No re5 deserves a remake because some gameplay elements didn’t age well coop and the partner AI can be vastly improved, inventory system, adding a merchant or something instead of a shop menu, and improve the level design to be more open like 4 remake or village probably my biggest complaint with the original was that it was level based and not connected kind of just broke immersion for me a little
Being real i didnt think re 5 was all that great but not because of an "obvious racial conflict" i just didnt like the ammo sharing and forced 2 player and im worried about further remakes due to three-make
That'd like saying Dying Light, one of the greatest Zombie games of all time, didn't age well cause half the zombies are black in a game where it's location is obviously a 2nd world country

Resident Evil 5 is one of my favorite games in the series for many reason. The story, the characters, the gameplay, the Merc mode being one of the absolute best in the series, and it just genuinely being one of the best co-op experiences I've had in any game. The game is extremely fun and I find it so dumb that we're still having the exact same conversations we had when it released. I grew up with Sean's content and still watch him from time to time but this take is absolutely ass. It is far from a racist game. That is a generally agreed upon statement. The cast of the original backed that it wasn't racist. God forbid anything takes place in Africa for a setting. Unbrella is an evil company, you think they give a shit about who they hurt or what country or continent has to crumble to get what they want? If amything, a remake gives Capcom even more opportunities to tell a message of just how taken advantage of and abused Africa as a whole has been to corporate demands, both in game and irl. The enemies are victims, hostile victims who have no control over themselves. And quite diverse as well. And I can see arguments for the tribespeople being a little much but even then, there's still plenty of primitive tribes who still live that way to this day. And not only that, but Sheva, a black half-African female protagonist that you play as, is CRUCIAL to Chris's character arc for the game and is a good character in herself. And the biggest argument? If RE5 is racist, then every other RE that takes place outside of America is racist too. RE4, 6 and 8 are all also racist because 'white man goes to X and shoots a bunch of scary Spaniards/Chinese/Romanians'. So why aren't those games considered racist? Because they aren't. So 5 isn't either. You absolutely cannot pick and choose. Thw game has aged perfectly fine. And I hope ad pray that Capcom sticks to its guns for a possible remake and making it the best it can be. It's an amazing game and it deserves to be done good.

I personally came across one such article while reading a magazine at a dentist office when I was a teen (I feel old now). The tomfoolery wasn't really called out back then, and, instead, had been allowed to fester. This is the result. That said; I do think it's kind of odd that Jack's opinion had trended over a full year after he talked about it in his run of RE4 Remake.
