It’s not “strawberry pie” per se. It was “strawberry daifuku” pie actually strawberry flavored mochi and red bean paste. It’s basically a rice dough and beans.

for people who has had mochi and red bean paste since forever they will appreciate the strawberry pie, but for people who are trying the mochi red bean combination for the first time, it will be a disaster. please also note that the red bean in japan is worlds away from what they sell in the states.

Due to livestock not being a very popular industry in Japan due to space limitations most of their meat is heavily heavily processed unless it’s a fish. Almost everything has to be imported. The easiest way to compare it is American bacon versus Japanese bacon.

McDonalds here has seasonal items which fits Japan’s seasonal culture. They generally bring back the popular items, but only around the season/holiday it is for. I think most people come in spring, when they have sakura style items. My personal favorite is around October when they have tsukimi (moon viewing) themed items. Other places do have some seasonal things, but not so much.

My favorite things to gwt from McDonald's in Japan is (what they call) the bacon lettuce burger, which has this yellowish sauce thats really good, the spicy burger also is good it's basically just the patty and spicy sauce, and I get the Shaka Shaka chicken seasoning and put it on my fries!

@me • 5y ago Actually both are real meat. However, American McDonald's meat is heavily processed and ground up to the point where is a goop, If you search up McDonald's Pink slime, you'll understand, It's also where the common misconception that American chicken nuggets aren't real chicken comes from. Chemically, the Pink goop is 100% real chicken, But the process it's made with, in my personal opinion is pretty disgusting, and it causes the meat to be a lot softer. Japan has more strict health regulations and just uses genuine peices of chicken breast for their nuggets rather then grinding it all up.
