I feel like you should get some kind of award for mentioning Candyman with your review of Chevalier (brilliant!) So glad that you gave Bottoms a watch....really enjoyed your commentary on it. I saw it in the theater, and the audience was equal parts doubled over with laughter, and shocked!

Funny that most of the lesser movies I saw this year were either horror or comic book flicks, as I try to be selective with what I watch. So, since I don't want to bash those I found fairly decent, have five with an honorable mention: HM - Barbie. I didn't dislike it, and enjoyed some aspects, but it's still not exactly to my tastes. 5. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 4. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 3. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 2. The Marvels 1. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Mediocre superhero films are one thing, yet Dial of Destiny not only exceeded my notions of disappointment, but made Crystal Skull look good in comparison.

great list. glad you came around a bit on Barbie. I felt a little the same about the piling on men but after talking about with my wife and reading more articles i realized more what the message was that whether its men in charge or women in charge, equality is what works best. I still liked parts of Indiana jones and there was some potential there. But agreed on the old voice with the younger indy and yeah the god daughter was very annoying at times along with the kid but i still liked it okay not in the top 3 but tied with 4th one. but imagine if we could have had one last adveture with indy, marion and selah and they could have brought back adult short round. Oh well. i am one of the few who actually liked quantumania. i acknowledge the flaws but i had a good time. Havent'; seen the rest. i will check out bottoms, it looked interesting.

Say what you will about Indiana but I liked it, was entertained by it. It's not perfect but it's not terrible. Indy is old and he can't do what he used to of course and I was expecting that. Bro celebrate that Ford is still making movies value him while you can.😄 Just like Eastwood is still in action.😄 Expendables 4 is not great but it's an entertaining popcorn movie it's O.K. Great list. I thought for a moment there, that Barbie was gonna be your #1 worst movie of the year. Also, movies have been bad this year because of studios Medeling and hiring bad writers. It's either that, or they just don't care, like Disney. When it comes to Superhero movies, audiences want them to be close to the source material and not have too much humor than what it really needs. Nothing is funny about Thor or The Marvels. Those movies should have serious tones. Man of Steel leans into Superman: The Animated Series a little bit with some elements. It was serious and dark. The only thing it lacked was the lighter tone. Superman: The Animated Series is light and dark but serious and that's what I wanna see in Superman: Legecy. Good writing = Good movies.
Yeah sometimes I’ll give a movie another chance if it seems to be universally loved all around me. Sometimes it could be my mood that gets in the way. I had to give Barbie another chance and I’m glad I did.

I enjoyed the first hour of Killer of the Flower Moon, but it never jumped out of first gear. All the characters felt flat. It was one of the worst DeNiro performances I have seen.
Honestly I enjoyed Indiana jones 5 and expandables 4. Indiana Jones Dial Of destiny was a really really fun ride and expandables 4 was just mediocre even though I enjoyed it a bit better 2nd time watching it, the chroma key is sooooo visible and it’s ridiculous but it was a fun movie to me, haven’t watched ant man 3, Shazam 2 and the marvels.
I agree with you, HUGE fan of Martin S. but that movie didn't do much for me. It felt like he was taking his gangster setup into a different time. And keep telling it as it is, if something stinks to you then call it out, although nowdays the blame is mostly to be put on the studio execs and the powers that be who know nothing about the art.
The only movie on this list that I saw in the theater was Indiana Jones, and I was unfortunate that I saw it twice, the second time was almost unbearable, but it was a *date type* thing, I heard so many bad reviews on The Marvels, and I still want to see if that was justified, maybe for free at my local library.
Watching Dial of Destiny...I wanted to just up and leave before screaming profanities at how much (Good word btw) Indy was Steamrolled by Everyone in this movie. Besides Sala of course. Indiana Jones is one of my top favorite movie action heroes and to say how much I hated what Kathleen Kennedy did to him making him a Depressed Broken constantly put down shell of himself for her pandering beliefs would be a Massive Understatement. Indy Should NEVER be sidelined or constantly mocked in his film especially by a person as insufferable as Helena Shaw. Willie and Elsa are sweethearts by comparison. I wanted to see it just for Harrison's swan song as Indiana and he does the best he can in his health, but seeing him made me almost cry. This movie is so depressing. It was nice to see John Ryhs Davies return and I wish He was the one to go on this final outing instead of Helena. It exists, but as finales go..Kingdom of the crystal skull and The Last Crusade are Far FAR FAR superior.
Another drinking game you can do with the marvels is every time that Kamala Khan Miss Marvel makes a stupid face a shocked face or a super :-) and when I say shocked we're talking like Hillary Clinton 2015 election kind of shocked whatever but seriously she made so many dumb faces and made the girl in pray who always did shocked eyes every 5 minutes. Not really because Indiana Jones 5 was an entertaining good movie. The old Indiana Jones was shown to be a competent action hero, good action heroes, high stakes, an achievable objective, etc. The Expendables 4 is a freakin joke with Curtis Jackson, Andy Garcia, and other actors that aren’t action stars in an action movie. That works if it’s a Delta Farce style movie instead of an intentional serious action movie.
I have to disagree with you abou Leave The World Behind. It has problems but it was my favorite movie of the year. So cool how they dealt with the end of the world stuff.
I generally don't view a lot of movies during a calender year & haven't seen half the movies you mentioned Lee....but AntMan 3 & Killers of The Flower Moon:really disliked! I cannot stand the toxic positivity people. Yeah art it hard, so what, they are adults. Critics have been having worst of lists for decades. People need to grow up. When you are a kid, there is an argument to keep everything positive. That should go away when you are an adult. My biggest disappointment was Indiana Jones. I loved the first three movies and just the set up was such a downer. He is old, depressed, kid died, wife left, he is teaching at some lousy city college where everyone ignores him. Then even when the plot starts he is begging the god daughter to go along on her adventure, not his. I cannot believe they spent so much money on this, went through all this trouble getting Ford back, and they just make the main character who is an icon such a depressed sad sack.
No hard feel8ngs was just k, there were some funny moments but it was just k, it wasn’t a great movie but wasn’t. Bad movie it had heart in the end but I just wish it was funnier I did like raunchy humor Andrea moments though. Iron claw was a good drama about the families tragedies and brotherhood

When it comes to Superhero movies, audiences want them to be close to the source material and not have too much humor than what it really needs. Nothing is funny about Thor or The Marvels. Those movies should have serious tones. Man of Steel leans into Superman: The Animated Series a little bit with some elements. It was serious and dark. The only thing it lacked was the lighter tone. Superman: The Animated Series is light and dark but serious and that's what I wanna see in Superman: Legecy. Good writing = Good movies.
Yeah sometimes I’ll give a movie another chance if it seems to be universally loved all around me. Sometimes it could be my mood that gets in the way. I had to give Barbie another chance and I’m glad I did.
I will never touch Barbie. But that's just me.
I've given all superhero content a break since Infinity War. Looks like I haven't missed one thing
Yeah outside of GOTG3 and Across the Spiderverse the superhero movies of this year were pretty meh

Flower Moon went on FOR FUCKING FOREVER. Expendables 4 was sad for a series that originally started out as a big action stars Avengers type.
Yeah why even put out another Expendables after such a long wait, just for it to be the worst?
I enjoyed the first hour of Killer of the Flower Moon, but it never jumped out of first gear. All the characters felt flat. It was one of the worst DeNiro performances I have seen.

Honestly I enjoyed Indiana jones 5 and expandables 4. Indiana Jones Dial Of destiny was a really really fun ride and expandables 4 was just mediocre even though I enjoyed it a bit better 2nd time watching it, the chroma key is sooooo visible and it’s ridiculous but it was a fun movie to me, haven’t watched ant man 3, Shazam 2 and the marvels.

I agree with you, HUGE fan of Martin S. but that movie didn't do much for me. It felt like he was taking his gangster setup into a different time. And keep telling it as it is, if something stinks to you then call it out, although nowdays the blame is mostly to be put on the studio execs and the powers that be who know nothing about the art.

The only movie on this list that I saw in the theater was Indiana Jones, and I was unfortunate that I saw it twice, the second time was almost unbearable, but it was a *date type* thing, I heard so many bad reviews on The Marvels, and I still want to see if that was justified, maybe for free at my local library.

Watching Dial of Destiny...I wanted to just up and leave before screaming profanities at how much (Good word btw) Indy was Steamrolled by Everyone in this movie. Besides Sala of course.
Indiana Jones is one of my top favorite movie action heroes and to say how much I hated what Kathleen Kennedy did to him making him a Depressed Broken constantly put down shell of himself for her pandering beliefs would be a Massive Understatement.
Indy Should NEVER be sidelined or constantly mocked in his film especially by a person as insufferable as Helena Shaw.
Willie and Elsa are sweethearts by comparison.
I wanted to see it just for Harrison's swan song as Indiana and he does the best he can in his health, but seeing him made me almost cry. This movie is so depressing. It was nice to see John Ryhs Davies return and I wish He was the one to go on this final outing instead of Helena.
It exists, but as finales go..Kingdom of the crystal skull and The Last Crusade are Far FAR FAR superior.

Another drinking game you can do with the marvels is every time that Kamala Khan Miss Marvel makes a stupid face a shocked face or a super :-) and when I say shocked we're talking like Hillary Clinton 2015 election kind of shocked whatever but seriously she made so many dumb faces and made the girl in pray who always did shocked eyes every 5 minutes.

Not really because Indiana Jones 5 was an entertaining good movie.
The old Indiana Jones was shown to be a competent action hero, good action heroes, high stakes, an achievable objective, etc.
The Expendables 4 is a freakin joke with Curtis Jackson, Andy Garcia, and other actors that aren’t action stars in an action movie.
That works if it’s a Delta Farce style movie instead of an intentional serious action movie.

Keep in mind the first few movies I mention are on the like side of things. The bottom 8 are the "stinkers". I liked Iron Claw well enough.
I have to disagree with you abou Leave The World Behind. It has problems but it was my favorite movie of the year. So cool how they dealt with the end of the world stuff.
I'm definitely planning on giving it another watch. I do that with divisive films. Barbie is a great example.
I generally don't view a lot of movies during a calender year & haven't seen half the movies you mentioned Lee....but AntMan 3 & Killers of The Flower Moon:really disliked! But,on a positive note: No Hard Feelings was a pleasant suprise! Some others(I just knew) ;wouldn't be worth my time or money....Looking @ you: Barbie & Indiana Jones😐.

I cannot stand the toxic positivity people. Yeah art it hard, so what, they are adults. Critics have been having worst of lists for decades. People need to grow up. When you are a kid, there is an argument to keep everything positive. That should go away when you are an adult.
My biggest disappointment was Indiana Jones. I loved the first three movies and just the set up was such a downer. He is old, depressed, kid died, wife left, he is teaching at some lousy city college where everyone ignores him. Then even when the plot starts he is begging the god daughter to go along on her adventure, not his. I cannot believe they spent so much money on this, went through all this trouble getting Ford back, and they just make the main character who is an icon such a depressed sad sack.

No hard feel8ngs was just k, there were some funny moments but it was just k, it wasn’t a great movie but wasn’t. Bad movie it had heart in the end but I just wish it was funnier I did like raunchy humor Andrea moments though. Iron claw was a good drama about the families tragedies and brotherhood
