I was very impressed with how he was handled, there’s even a scene of him gently, rejecting a female character’s crush because of being gay, and that’s treated as totally understandable and not out of the norm. It’s so refreshing, I can hardly think of any anime that do it Then again, I am not surprised at the good gay rep, this is made by Junichi Sato, and he has a great track record with that, he directed the first seasons of Sailor Moon
@@auralunaprettycure right?? The way they handles his character was done so beautifully he became one of my favorite characters in anime. There aren’t a ton of LGBT characters that are done well in fiction and am not surprised he was handled like this, seeing that not only is Junichi from Sailor Moon, but even the art director Ikuko Itoh.
@@artisthonyajta OHH Ikuko Itoh worked on this? That explains so much, I was sitting here this whole time, thinking that this art style reminded me quite a bit of Princess Tutu! Heh. That also is a lovely coincidence since I’m pretty sure the protagonists from both shows are performed the same actress in the dub (or at least, it sounded that way to me) I’m so happy to see that User’s Club is still being remembered all these years later, this was one of the first anime I bought w/ my own money (along with Cardcaptor) I believe I was about 12 when I first watched em both
I just got back from my first anime convention in New Orleans, with my con book which has this anime on the back. I went to that convention this morning. Best day ever.
Miss this show. man...the dvd release for this back in 01 was GORGEOUS!!
This series has a fond place in my heart.
This has such a happy summer vibe
Wow! The animation on display in these episodes is just so, so fantastic
i cried like a big baby when i finally found this!! :"3
to think that cute guy is openly gay is very progressive for 90s anime

It's a novelty, just that
This opening song has a lot of nostalgic vibes
Just like the beginning
indeed a forgotten anime but one of the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s been years! Damn time flies
The purple haired gay guy (Aburatsubo) actually has the same voice actor as DIO from JJBA. He's also prob my fave character of all time xD

Ikuko Itoh did a wonderful job animating this. She worked on Sailor Moon S and Super S, too.
