They also did The Girl is Mine off of Thriller, and The Man, off the same album this song is from, together. McCartney also wrote Girlfriend from Off the Wall for him. Though they ended up having a falling out and didn't work together after 1985. When they were recording Say Say Say, McCartney apparently told Michael to invest in music publishing. A few years later, after Michael had made his gigantic pile of money, McCartney was planning to buy back the rights to the Beatles songs, and Michael outbid him for them. McCartney had already been getting farked out of the gigantic royalties for the Beatles, and Michael apparently kept on farking him afterwards, and he didn't like that very much.

    • @berniemargolis4288

I think it even went beyond that. He had specifically gushed to Michael about how excited he was to finally be able to buy back his own music. Michael told him that it was "just business" when he outbid him, but for Paul McCartney it was personal.

Definitely not an obscure song, was on the radio constantly when this came out and was a legitimate hit. The point of the scamming in the story of the video was that they were giving the money to an orphanage. Glad you enjoyed it.

I don't want to be rude. I'm a 31 year old from Europe and I essentially grew up with MJ's music and MASSIVE fame. This gentleman seems older than me and I don't get how he hasn't seen much of MJ (speaking voice and footage). How could you not come across him while growing up in the 90s and 2000s? The guy was literally everywhere. He was THE star.

    • @skylargray5642

As an American who grew up in the 90s/00s, it's an American thing unfortunately. Hearing more about Michael Jackson and seeing images rather than seeing him on video. After the mid-90s, the American media was disrespecting him, plastering magazines with untrue headlines/unflattering moments and encouraging scandals and parodies. They didn't push his newer music to the general public or show him on video anymore. America was trying to dehumanize him as a "freak" for their entertainment. All of that stopped when he died though.

MJ was first informed that the ATV catalog was up for sale in September 1984 by his attorney, John Branca, who had put together Jackson's earlier catalogue acquisitions. Warned of the competition he would face in buying such popular songs, Jackson remained resolute in his decision to purchase them. Branca approached McCartney's attorney to query whether the Beatle was planning to bid. The attorney stated he wasn't; it was "too pricey." According to Bert Reuter, who negotiated the sale of ATV Music for Holmes à Court, "We had given Paul McCartney first right of refusal but Paul didn't want it at that time." Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono had been contacted as well but also did not enter bidding. >>> MJ is too nice for his cruel friends, and a savvy businessman man!✍🏽👑✨🎯💯(Please React to Michael Jackson Ft. Paul McCartney “The Man” very underrated collaboration by these two Legends)

If you like any of his "major" songs then you should explore the rest of the catelog. Even if not reacting to it. Best listened to on great headphones or a great speaker/monitor system. His mixing/mastering quality IS the bar. Listen to the "HIStory" album for the ultimate sonic pleasure. "Earth Song" is epic. "Man In The Mirror" is a message for the ages and really shows off his vocal ability. "Wanna Be Startin Somethin" is just damn fun and impossible to sit still to.
Watch any live concert footage and you will see, that there were THREE who affected the crowd in a way that made them scream, cry, faint, etc. Elvis...The Beatles...and Michael Jackson. Period.
And shout out to the LEGEND Jonathan Moffett on drums. That is NOT a drum machine you are hearing, it is a human machine who goes by the given nickname "Sugarfoot".
BTW, skip the album "Invincible" st all costs. It's that bad. All others are pure gold though. Weird.

@@stephencarmack3939 For sure. And the sound quality is amazing, especially noticeable on Book1 which has all the songs you've heard a million times. It is a great "demo" disk for audiophile headphones or systems. I wish all CD's sounded that good. Reminds me of the more expensive "Original Master Recording", gold-ish colored heavier disks (from the late 80s/early 90s?) I had a few back then. There weren't many titles available and were cost prohibitive for mass sales. To spend $30+ on a CD back then you had to be more than a casual listener. Guilty.

@@ericbennett1253 absolutely! Not really comparable but my favorite album of MJ’s is Dangerous. I’m a millennial so the roll out of that album impacted me the most. Each generation can probably say that from young Mike as J5 through his later career. The Dangerous roll out of Jam, Remember the Time, Black or White, Heal the World… I mean 10 out of 14 tracks were really big to massive releases.

I don't get it, because OTHER reactors have reacted to SAY SAY SAY and DIDN"T have to blur it out or make it transparent so all you see is the background of the person's room. Same with other videos that he has made unwatchable, others have shown them no problem. If a reactor is going to do that, WHY bother putting up something the watcher can't see. Just listen to the recording and not the video.

MJ coming in for support elevated other people's songs so much!! State of Shock - The Jackson's with Mick Jagger, Somebody's Watching Me - Rockwell and Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin - Jermaine Jackson! After he bought the Beatles publishing McCartney felt betrayed and they never worked together again. McCartney is the richest musician in the world. Not MJ's problem that Paul was too cheap to buy the rights himself. 😳😳😳

He had to work with Lennon's widow Yoko to buy the rights to the Lennon/McCartney catalogue (which is just unbelievable that composers have to BUY their songs to own them. SHOULD be AUTOMATIC. You WROTE the song, it should be yours and not up for sale) so Paul and Yoko HAD to AGREE on a price, Yoko kept dragging her heels about it.

A weird fact though is the woman that’s Michael’s “love interest” in the video is played by his sister Latoya!! 🤣🤣🤣 Now that’s gross, but I still love Michael!!! 😍😍😍

During the filming of "Say, Say, Say," MJ visited Paul Mccartney who was staying at Sycamore Valley Ranch. A few years later MJ bought the Ranch and turned it into Neverland. MJ’s vocals are unmatched he’s Thee Greatest Music Artist Of All Time/Vocalist! For a great reason too simply cause of how versatile the man truly was/is he super soulful gotta check out more of MJ’s discography he’s done World Music,Pop,R&B,Hip Hop,Disco,Funk,Soul,Heavy Metal,Rock,Country,DubStep,Opera etc. he’s phenomenal and dominated the music industry from Childhood To Adulthood And MJ’s vocals are unmatched I prefer the MJ alternate version with most of the parts being sung by Michael himself Long Live The King Of Music Forever! MJ influences are James Brown,Jackie Wilson,Fred Astaire & Sammy Davis Jr. so his default vocal performance is to always go raw MJ is incomparable😇🙌🏽👑💖💕💫(And before sum sicko comments, yes that’s MJ’s sister Latoya who is playing his love interest in this Short Film it’s acting I wish folks would keep there sick fantasies to themselves also he was giving her a opportunity in the music industry being the lovely brother MJ truly was/is)

@ JayTooSavy, I think you need to listen to Paul McCartney''s Beatles catalogue and with WINGS and his solo works. Paul's vocals are also amazing because Paul has a 5 octave range. Compare these two songs, seek them out and listen to them....One is "HERE, THERE and EVERYWHERE," and then listen to "HELTER SKELTER." Paul is the lead singer on BOTH songs. But if I hadn't TOLD you that, you would NEVER GUESS it was the SAME singer. Paul's voice could sound VERY different depending on what type of song he was singing. The Beatles and Paul himself ALSO wrote songs in ALL genres. Paul also wrote 4 classical pieces.
I know Michael Jackson's music too, and he is a GREAT performer and dancer, but their are some things Michael doesnt do. On several of Paul's solo albums, he plays ALL the instruments on it. Michael isn't really a musician. I have never seen him play an instrument. Paul plays the bass, drums, guitar, piano, percussion. You also have to remember that the Jackson Five didn't have their first hit until December of 1969. The BEATLES (which Paul was a member of) had THEIR first hit in Oct of 1962, SEVEN years before the Jackson 5. The Beatles had their first #1 in 1963, both of these were in the UK and Europe. The BEATLES didn't become known here in the U.S. until late December 1963 when "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" was released in the US along with the album "MEET THE BEATLES"
The JACKSON 5 were starting just as the BEATLES were recording their LAST 2 albums before they broke up in 1970. Then McCartney when on to form another band WINGS, and in 1979 Paul became a solo performer using various band members over the years. He has been touring ever since 1973 and just finished a US tour on June 16, 2022, two days before his 80th birthday. Sadly and unfortunately Michael died in 2009, as you know. Who knows what else he might have done, if he hadn't passed away. Paul, obviously is still with us and has been in the recording business since 1962 at the age of 20, and he is now 80 and still performing and selling records, (including Beatles records) for 60 years.

From then onwards both artists would confide in each other, offer each other advice, and even talk business on occasion. Paul would even offer his song 'Girlfriend' up to Michael, though he eventually ended up recording it himself for Wings. But by then, the beautiful friendship had already begun
