TY thanks for sharing this amazing story. I was absolutely captivated from start to finish. I have watched many of your videos and your playing is simply mesmerising. Thanks for sharing your gift with the world!
I play a Luis Fernandez de Cordoba. He’s local to the DC area where I live and I was lucky to pick up his Torres style guitar early in the pandemic. Waiting for him to complete a set of double top guitars with arm rests and raised fretboard so I can get a modern style guitar, too!
Loved the video, very interesting Stuff...not only for guitarists but for Luthiers too. I play sometimes a Fernando Mazza and a Miguel Sandoval... Both lattice
I played my teachers Smallman. He bought it after staying with JW and trying all his guitars, it was an amazing instrument - but I didn't like it. The guitar did too much of the work, I felt like it didn't want me to play it, like it was a piece of furniture or something. It was a very weird sensation. It was then that I understood Wagyu I prefer a Fleta or Torres or a Hauser, the wood selection and craftmanship imparts more timbres character to the note. This is why a Torres will always make the best melody when compared to any other guitar.
What guitar are you all currently playing?
I’m playing a beautiful cedar top made my Canadian Luthier Douglass Scott
Carsten Kobs spruce double top, Jim Redgate lattice bracing model and another one kept as a secret.
Thank you Ryan and Xeno for inviting me to share my story!! I had a lot a lot of fun in making this video!! Go GFA!!
We were so thrilled to have you on GFAtv again! Thanks for sharing your story!

What a great combo that will be when you have both options! What are the woods of your Torres model vs. what will be on the double top?
Torres is a spruce top. The double will be cedar outside, balsa middle, spruce inside.
Amazing video!! Should do more of these videos please!
T Y : you're right in all of what you say, it's the best instrument one can have, only many guitarists dont know that ...

Never mind coffee and chocolate, try whiskey
JW uses normal tension strings too, I suspect that Smallman has tuned his instruments (and his sons in the art) for the Daddario EJ45
Very interesting
Why you didn’t play it for us?
Guitar God
So what guitar does Xeno play...?
That is a question a future episode will reveal!

It's interesting to find out what guitars, what styles, and what woods work for what we each need (and prefer) as players!
