300g (10.5oz) - Spaghetti Or Pasta Of Your Choice
Parmesan Cheese To Serve
Fresh Basil To Serve
Cracked Black Pepper To Serve
Method -
1. Place a large pot of water over high heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, generously season with salt and cook the pasta for 1 minute less than the packet instructions. Remove and drain.
2. Add the pine nuts and toast in a pan over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes or until golden and fragrant. Remove and let cool.
3. In the meantime, place all ingredients into a blender or food processor and blitz until it forms a coarse paste and runny consistency. Check to season and adjust oil amounts if need be. Remove and set aside.
4. Place the drained pasta into a mixing bowl, add the pesto, and combine. Serve in bowls, and garnish with fresh parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves and cracked black pepper. Dig in.

Absolute legend! Thank you so much.
I really appreciate it 🙌
Pro tip: instead of grinding till smooth, pulse the grinder in short bursts until smooth. If you leave it to just grind, the heat of the grinder cooks the Basil which makes it bitter. This doesn't ruin the dish by any means, and may even be preferable depending on individual tastes. But it's something you should keep note of when making Pesto. This problem can also be avoided if you grind the pesto by hand with a pestle and mortar 👍
Ya I also wonder why he add the oil little bit then add more later after blended, is there a difference if put all in at one go
@osirusj275 Ik this is such a late reply, but no, all he did was realize that he didn't add enough oil, and all he did was add more to get a better consistency

❤I will prepare it for my kids. I will surprise them this weekend with something different and delicious to delight my family. thank you❤
For nut allergies and a fresh taste seeds are great. Sunflower or Pepito seeds.
Simple and effective 👌
This looks so tasty 🤤
Simple recipe.....can't wait to try it
I like this very much. Seem not too complex method n easy to understand thank you for this sharing I’ll try
Very easy to put together and takes the same amount of time to make as it does to cook pasta

In the UK that stuff ain’t cheap I’ll be spending £20 just to make this 💀
Came to say the same thing but I’m in Canada. I could get a great small steak for the price of making pesto
Pesto pasta is such a classic combo and so delish. Cheers mate!

Great recipe and personally I like things a lil saucy so I added a bit of Ragù and O M G.........
*So* *good* 😫
Sprinkle black pepper with hand is so satisfying 😂
Lovely recipe man I would definitely add some blackened salmon or grilled chicken to the mix
that is a great idea!
Definitely! That would be so good
What a tasty snack! But what's for dinner?
You’d be surprised at how filling this actually is
@@ChefJackOvens I was gonna say it has no protein but then I remembered that you put nuts in it. That amount would serve one though since I have such a big appetite
@@minksrule2196 fair enough
Add a protein and salad or veggie and it’s dinner!
I KNOOOOWWW CHEF JACK OVENS GOT ME COVERED FOR DAT PESTO!!
Probably an unnecessary tip, but if you want an emulsion with less oil, boil the pasta flat in a wide pan, so you have a higher starch to water ratio than you'd get if you did it in a pot. Then use that water when making the emulsion for the pesto.
That would definitely work if you wanted to cut the oil
This isn't cheap even in italy, just because of the pine nuts, but there are pesto variations you can make with cheaper nuts and/or leafy greens. Try cashews, chestnuts, arugula or spinach.
What kind of oil did you use? I use jarred Pesto, but they use mostly soybean oil.😢
Extra virgin olive oil
When I heard cheap and pine nuts in the same shirt I went straight to the comments 💀
Best tip: Use the italian basil pesto from costco. Tastes amazing and much cheaper. It also lasts you so long.
This is how to make pesto. Not how to buy pesto 🤙
@@ChefJackOvensHaha I know. But I am too lazy to put much effort into cooking. I'm sure your recipe is really good!
what type of pan is that?
Looks delicious! For a nut allergic, is it just to skip the nuts? or would you add something else instead of the nuts?
If you’re allergic, skip the nuts altogether
Can u replace the pine nuts with anything?
Any nut of your choice
Do you have the full recipe please

Where in the world are pesto ingredients cheap? Coz I need to move. Lmao.
Now say basil pesto pasta really quick 3 times ^^
Approved. Pasta ways too al dente though. 😁😘
I had my olive oil pull bitter and ruin the entire pesto batch! Any advice?
The extra virgin olive oil you’re using is too strong and possibly not fresh
@@ChefJackOvens how do I buy weaker oil lol. They're all labelled extra virgin olive oil!
They all have different flavour profiles and strengths. Usually the more expensive ones are a lot smoother than the cheaper ones
Cheap?? When i saw the cost of a pack of pine nuts the other day I nearly collapsed.
Its cheap in a few countries.
Use sunflower seeds
'cheap' and 'pine nuts' are not jointly satisfiable tbh
Calories?
Jesus Christ loves you my brother and has been wanting to hear from you! He’s waiting with open arms full of love! Keep up the vids I love seeing these cooking shorts I’ve been wanting to try some of them out! God bless you my brother 🙏🏼❤️
Use a mortar and pestle man, and it’s pasta to sauce not sauce on pasta it ain’t a fry up
Noooo...I'm Italian.. pine nuts do not need to be roasted please 😢 not lemon juice either😢 it ruins the real taste !!
Toasted pine nuts create a better flavour. They can be fresh if you like that and same with lemon juice. The acidity prolongs the life and adds flavour
Why are pine nuts do expensive
Can you write the exact recipe?

Bahsil
Nah I'm gonna need some meat does it taste good with chicken?
So good with chicken 👌
“Cheap” proceeds to make scratch pesto lmao
bro speaks on 2x
No way you got to add mozzarella cheese
Definitely not
This is not a cheap meal
It’s extremely cheap
That’s wrong on so many levels. Italians must be going nuts. You make pesto with a mortar and pestle and that spaghetti must be the cheapest you could find. Rather audacious of you to call yourself a chef.
