Another channel I listened to a lot switched to shorter form content exclusively in Japanese with voiceovers, which has unfortunately crowded me out of the audience a bit due to me being a blind American who unfortunately knows very little Japanese. I have always appreciated your content and your translations, as it makes videos like this accessible to people like me. It means a lot that you go out of your way to make your videos accessible to a wider audience in this manner. Japan is still at the top of my list of places to visit, as I love the rail system and how the people value accessibility and respectful treatment of people like me. The United States could learn a thing or two based on what I have learned from friends of mine who lived in Japan for a time. Keep up the awesome content.
Thank you for finding this! I wonder if they use an automatic subtitle reading function? The subtitles for the train announcements are all manually entered based on the voice, so it takes several days to complete. The conductor's announcements provide more important information than the automatic announcements, so I started them so that even people who don't understand Japanese can understand them. There are some trains where I can't hear them, but I would like to continue doing this in the future. Please note that the input is done in Japanese and we use automatic translation to translate into other languages, so the translations may be slightly different.
@@ys-train Thank you so much for doing this. My screen reader reads it just fine. I use NVDA on my laptop, and Voiceover on my phone, for reference. I can kind of make out some of the differences in translation. For example, I've heard the translation use the word plane instead of train at times. It does not bother me at all, because I can understand enough of what is being said, and I much prefer this to having nothing. Thank you for putting in all the work to manually enter the conductor announcements. You are right about the manual announcements containing additional information not provided in the automated announcements. Parser service is part of this, plus station arrival times and transfers. I feel like I'm there and can understand everything that is being said, even though I can't, and I'm happy for this glimpse into Japanese rail. Keep it up.
