Reminds me of my black Mk2 I had for Christmas 1978 aged aged 13 and just wish I had kept it. At the time in 1983 I bought a second hand Raleigh Europe 10 speed racer for cycling to college but it was not the same as riding my Chopper. Bought my first motorbike later that year and just not enough room for all three. I bought a speedo and an electric horn for the Chopper and used to race around on it like I thought I was Barry Sheene wearing out the edges of the pedals. Once flipped it going over a speed bump on the local park and managed 35 mph on a local hilly road. Great fun but too heavy for long distances. Just wish I had kept it and managed to get hold of the mag wheels off the 1977 special edition.
I got a white chopper as a kid for xmas and rode the whole place flat with it including to school every single day come rain or shine, it had a narrower chopper handle bar with a cross bar on it and other than that it was the normal 3 speed planetary hub type like most others, when I was called up for my South African deffence force service after my schooling in 1979 my younger brother started using it against my will and it disappeared lol, I realy looked well after it and it was in perfect condition when I left it, well the other day I was told by a guy here on RUclips that I had a verry rare one that was only found here in South Africa in the white color with the narrower handle bars, there wer others around at the time but not one like mine, other guys complained about speed wobbles at higher speeds but mine was rock solid in stability and never once did I ever incounterd speed wobble at top speeds on it, I looked up for sales online last night and one guy here in South Africa has one hese selling for 26000 South African Rands and its not in the best of shape though not too bad, and it was like the one you have here, it makes me think how much mine wudda cost these days as it would have still been in perfect condition because that's how I am, I like all my things perfect and scratch free and so on lol, also always wondering what in the heck happened to my chopper and can almost bet my bottom dollar my brother pawned or sold it for a quick buck 👀, whenever I asked him bout it he just said he dunno 🤔, anyways peace from South Africa ✌
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman yeah I'm sure it wudda bin worth a good bit these days though I would never sell it had I still had it, that was my first and only bike I ever got from my parents because they wer poor, after my military service I started my aprentiship as a boilermaker/welder and got myself a Raleigh Bomber semi fat wheel that I used for many yrs to work n back even though I've always had a car too and currently have a cool fat bike that I absolutely love and still ride at 61 yrs old, it prolly be my last bike too lol but i still realy miss my chopper to this day, it's such a classic and if I wer you I'd hold on to that one for dear life deffo... cheers bro n keep safe ✌
Thanks Nicola, I certainly will keep it now. 😊👍 Just always think it's a shame to have it tucked away in the shed but I guess if I sold it that's all that would happen to it with its next owner anyway so I'm better off keeping it. 👌
Nice! Have a look at the Raleigh Chopper Story on “Little Car”, on RUclips if haven’t already. And yeah, it was a racing incident. And it won’t be the last. Whoever is ahead in championship just takes out the other guy.
Oh I haven't, I shall check that out thank you. 😊👍 Yeah it was a racing incident, I think had the sausage kerb hadn't been there they would have still clattered into each other but could have maybe kept going. I think it's going to boil over again and then some serious words will be said to both of them. I just think we all need to appreciate what we're witnessing rather than bickering, this is for a Championship battle and in 20 years time and more besides this season will be remembered regardless of who wins it! ❤️❤️❤️

Nice one buddy, I think we've all got something we wish we'd kept during childhood or first cars etc. Just one of those things. 😊
Lovely bike ...
Thank you. 😊

That horn 😂🤣
You could do with having the horn from the Mercedes Grosser that Jeremy drove once on Top Gear
That would be ace! 😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Yeah would be
2008 the year that episode was, the same year Martin Brundle said 3 words I'm not going to say!!!! 🙄🤣

3:48 not like you will ever see on in real life Josh… or Dave and Will for that matter😂🤣😂
😂 😂 😂 Brilliant!
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Imagine if KD takes off the y in his current name on this 🙄😂
Oh dear
DO NOT KD!!!
I knew a bloke in the 80's he had a massive chopper..........
Sadly that bloke wasn't you.... 😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman 😢😢😢
😂😂😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Nor is yours last time I saw Josh😉😂😂
Did you ever manage to sell it 😂
Yeah bud, got £800.
Wowzers a bicycle
What would you do if one day you went to go out on it and it was painted pink? KD to blame 🤣🤣🤣
If that got painted pink, someone is getting a slap! I wouldn't be happy! 😂 😂 😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Even if it wasn't me or KD would you still blame us? 🤣🤣
I would now yes! 😂😂😂
@@willf1sv5 You ruined my plan😂😂😂 guess I’ll just set it on fire then😂😂😂
Or drop a paino on it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brings back many happy and painful memories. Not the most comfortable bicycle to ride. 🚲 🚲
Yeah it isn't the most comfortable but it does look cool so I'd say it's worth it. 😎😂
Yes, I’ve heard that Josh is quite unusual to ride… at least that is what Dave told me😉😂
Just too heavy imo but built up the leg muscles for playing football! Even now 44 years later still feeling the advantages.
Where's E.T.!!🤣
He already phoned home before I recorded the video! 😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Good looking bike btw and that horn i've heard it in Pingu years ago!😁

It's not gayer than the Matiz, I have to put my foot down on that one! 😂

Oh god, what crapheap has the git went and bought now…😂😂😂
