This happened on my block, I wasn’t affected thankfully, but my friends houses were destroyed, and when I helped cleanup it was devastating & traumatic to realize that could’ve been I who needed a new home, or lose everything, I still pray for those families and victims
I remember this crazy storm. I live in sachse(the town over from rowlett) we weren't even in the path of the storm, and my house got destroyed by softball size hail.
My sister's home comes into view at 1:25 in the video. It is the one with the black roof just to the left of the water tower. It has a bright green Comaro in front of the house. They were in it when the tornado hit. They got out without a scratch, but basically lost everything but the clothes on their backs. All three of their vehicles were destroyed. God was protecting them. The things can be replaced.
genuinely glad they made it through; not lovin' the simple-simon "god logic" logic, however, for what does it insinuate about those that weren't as fortunate?
I live in Rowlett, the siren went off at 7:30 pm, I heard tornado coming, it missed my house about 1/4 mile, I did not get any damage on my house. I watched from my front yard as it crossed hwy 66 east of the Walmart grocery store by Dalrock rd. We were without power for 4 days. It tore up lots of homes, it's a miracle no one was killed that night. One man from Rowlett died of the injuries he received that night about two weeks later. Would not wish this on anyone, it was a nightmare, I will never forget.
I used to live in mesquite along north galloway blvd my nephew and his family and a couple guests survived the incident... one of their dogs was sucked out when the front door of their house got blown... miraculously the dog was found alive a few days later my thoughts and prayers for the 11 (last reported) who perished, and their family who survived
I've seen so many tornado videos and documentaries and I'm very surprised that I hadn't heard about this particular tornado! The damage is incredible, and so scary to think about this thing plowing through the city in the darkness, utterly terrifying!
I dont know if you will see this but i remeber this a lot, we knew it was oddly warm and it was gonna rain and we went to see star wars the force awakens after we ate lunch. What a way to finish dinner. My mom got slapped with a reef. If that tornado did not turn due to the lake. I dont think me, my friends and my family would be hear today. It hurts me every day to think of all the loss that happend in my town. And after that day i remeber it was just the warmest winter and spring and wr just had flooding rain and large hail storms every week. Now we are gonna have the coldest 2021 and 2022. Ice storms now. Texas and global warming is no joke. We fucked up the natural weather pattern of the earth.

This only captures the F3 portion of the tornado's path. It starts in Rowlett and doesn't show the F4 devastation in Garland prior to where this video starts.
Such a silly comment. Our house was a direct hit. Biggest house right on the water... Paid a forensic meteorologist to do a report of the path... Was F4... Insurance company denied it was a tornado...

This event, gave me the inspiration to learn n share any news from storm chasers of storms coming with this potential or anything like it. I still have dreams about it and what might have happened if my wife had not been there to keep me safe and calm. I wasn’t used to tornadic weather but she was.
+Leeematty RS it's really hard. We had to stay at our grandmas house for a little while. Usually you'd rebuild and something like that and live in it but that's not what we did. We rebuilt the house and then we sold it right away. We built a really nice house and we sold it within 2 weeks. It's terrible Bc you have to sift through what was left of your house and try and find recoverable items. Feel free to ask more questions:)
Dylan Strilko Jesus I can't even imagine :( Like I guess alot of people lose their valuables like baby photos, electronics, photo albums ... I can't even. So where did you move to? :p You are strong person for getting through it through :)
I feel so bad a b out the kids and families that spent ed Christmas then had their lives or house ducked by a tornado still a merry Christmas and a new year hope you are safe and build a new community 😢😢😢😦😦😦😭😭😭
Yes, it hit in Garland first were most of the deaths occured on George Bush toll road by I-30 were cars were picked up, and thrown off ramp and fell 40ft, then crossed lake and then hit Rowlett.

Actually I don't believe anyone lost their life in that neighborhood so that says a lot.
oh my... my heart goes to all the victims of tornado. Let's pray for them to recover soon.

There were people killed. Mostly in their cars on the I-30/George Bush interchange which took a direct hit

You can see the path as it hit where no houses were. I prayed for the families there.

I leave in Rowlett and I went to the damaged area to take pictures.
The view is really sad and a heartbreaking.
I literally just got to my grandma's house, in an other state, when we heard that there was a tornado near my friends and family.

3 houses away from our house, blown away. Surreal! at about 1:47 is where our neighborhood and house is.
Very devastating. North Texans are in our prayers.
الله يحفظ اخواننا واحباءنا وكل الناس بدلاس وكل امريكا العظيمة
At about 0:39 my house is the one in like the middle, it's the left one with the roof basically destroyed
+Dylan Strilko Sorry to hear that bro :( If it's ok to ask, how does everyone recover from something like this?

This tornado maintained an EF3-EF4 status for most of its life but only Hit EF5 rating 3-4 buildings.

My friends also moved two years ago from somewhere nearby. The old house is fine.
