  • The all new 2021 Moto kite from Cabrinha has been supercharged this year. Thrust is now generated more effortlessly and the kite’s ability to ‘climb’ upwind has been greatly improved. This all translates into an infinitely more crisp and direct kite performance free ride kite with immediate response and control.
    To aid with the forward drive, the second version has had a redesign not only in its unique profiles, but also in the arc shape where we reduced the coning to allow it to fly faster through the wind window.
    The final stage of redesign in all the Moto's, is the bridle. Cabrinha took a balanced approach to allow and maintain the lighter bar feel, while giving more control through varying angles of attack. All in all giving a far more refined and versatile kite this year.

    Riding the FX a lot, now riding Moto 2020 in many conditions (foil/wave/freestyle/power hooked jump, megaloop). I just love this kite. less agressive, less nervous than FX, not as good as FX for unhooking for sur, but better hangtime and power, much forgiving, easier to land jump. This is a calm FX! Loops are less powerful but safer. Awesome strong wind behavior. Pretty stoked how far I can go in the storm with the 8m. This is an EASY kite with a lot of performance for beginner as for very advance kiters. Lately very impressed by the drift capability of the 2020 10m! So can't wait to try the 2021 if the feeling is more even direct. Design and materials looks sick in 21.

    The moto 01.
    After a few changes of switchblade, fx and drifters, I switched in 2018/2019 to the newest kite in Cabrinha's range, the moto.
    During the very first session on this kite I was immediately sold. (but also had bought a set of 12/9/7 without testing).
    During the first few meters on the bike, it immediately felt familiar and I dared to go full throttle right away.
    That resulted in my PR on the woo.
    14.3m and that already in the first session with a new kite.
    I particularly liked the characteristics of the kite.
    The kite feels nice and light and direct.
    Being in light does not mean that you are constantly looking at where the kite is, on the contrary, you can fly this kite with your eyes closed.
    The kite gives good bar feedback without your arms being ripped off.
    Because the kite feels so nice and light on the bar, this kite challenges you to sail it in the high end and man what does this kite come into its own.
    I myself take the 9 from the 22 knots and sail it up to 40.
    Whether you want to jump high or just want to run?
    This kite gives you the confidence.
    You never have the feeling that you cannot keep the kite or that it does not catch you after a run.
    Everything with this kite is just easy and gives you the feeling that you can win the next KOTA.
    In the meantime I have come to my third set of motorcycles.
    This year, apart from the usual change of a new color, cabrinha has also adapted the kite itself.
    Last weekend I was able to test the 12m moto v2 on '' flat water spot '' rockanje.
    Normally I am of the opinion that I cannot judge a kite on a 12m.
    I prefer to sail my 9 and 7 personally.
    But with this new 12m motorcycle this is really a different story.
    Man, this kite is great.
    As Cabrinha herself says, the bridle and archshape have been applied to the motorcycle.
    The moment I have the kite in the air it still feels familiar, as with the previous motos, you could immediately see in the air that the bridle is different from the previous moto.
    The kite still feels nice and light and direct.
    After the first meter on the water in a paltry 17/20 knots, the kite feels more stable than its previous generation and the low end also seems to be a bit better in my opinion.
    After an hour on the water the wind picked up to about 26 knots.
    There came the smile on my face.
    That kite is not normal.
    Super stable and feels even more at home in the high end than before.
    What a top session, wonderful high jumps and even nice high kiteloops where I even make a down / heli loop. (and that at a 12m)
    Kiteloop transitions with hand drag frontroll kiteloops this kite gives kite you the confidence to empty your entire box of tricks.
    Who is this kite for?
    I say for everyone.
    The kiteschool at my local spot uses them for lessons.
    So whether you want to make your first meters or whether you are more advanced and want to freeride (jumping / running)
    This kite never gets boring and puts a big smile on your face every session!
    And to end my review I use my favorite phrase.
    Moto moto the name is so nice you say it twice

    Was thankful to get my hands on this rev Moto in a 12M which is pretty bread and butter here on Lake Michigan. I was coming off of last years Moto 12M so of course my buddy Marc wanted to know how it compared. I stumbled putting it into words...”Love it, it just works” was about all I could get out. Did not unhook, but on the hook I would say it feels like the perfect balance of kite speed, turning, and bar feel - the power is there, I know where the kite is and what it is doing, but not so much that it wears me out - SO GOOD

    I’m mostly into foiling (and some snow kiting) - today I have two Moto's and one Drifter 2019. I also watched your reviews of the new Contra 1-strut. I would be interested in the 1-strut 11m, but don’t really understand why they make the small sizes in 1-strut. Also heard that single struts wears out much faster. What’s your opinion on those two subjects?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  3 года назад +1

      We all believe the 11m 1 strut will be incredible! It has not landed in the US yet but the second I get my hands on it, we will make a video. The 9m is incredible! :) As for the 1 strut kites wearing out faster. I do believe that is do to flutter but I feel the 1 strut contra is minimal on flutter so think it will be like any other kite out there in life longevity.

    Thanks for the videos and the great advice. A Kind word can be everything to someone who is hurting.
    How do you compare the Moto to the FX. I have a relatively new 12m FX and haven’t spent a lot of time on it do to knee surgery. I need a 10m in my quiver so would you consider the new changes in the Moto a good pick over the FX.
    Next do a review on the 2021 FX

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  3 года назад +1

      Great question! I think the FX is a good kite friend for sure! Sorry about the knee surgery been there.... As for the difference well the FX will be a little faster to move and generate power.... Moto will be a little more pull and fly off the center lines a good bit. The FX will be a little better for sure for unhooked tricks and the Moto will be better for more all around. If you enjoy your 12FX I would go 10FX for sure! The 10m FX is really nice... You really can't go wrong though either way!

    Congratulations for your videos .. I just beginning to explore kitesurfing and I don’t know size and brand to buy!! I am tall weight 108 kg and I am 53 years old and still a lot energy . Can you advise on which one to go?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  Год назад +1

      Happy to try and help! 238 lbs you are going to want some power and volume. First question, before what is the wind conditions that you live at or my ride in at your area? You will want a larger board to make planing easy. A larger kite will help with power. I really think www.Cabrinha.com makes the top of the line kites and believe you can not go wrong with that brand. We can help with your gear at www.wingfoilprocenter.com. Let me know your wind conditions. Will help a lot.

      @@totococozza That is very light winds. I would recommend a light wind board for sure like a Cabrinha Stylus or some kind of light wind (door) larger with less rocker great in light winds. A 17m Cabrinha Contra or even a 15m Contra with line extentions will help with a little more power.

    How would it compare to a Switchblade for a beginner?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  3 года назад +3

      Great question! I believe the Switchbalde has more low end in the light winds and can generate more pull. The SB also has a higher wind range with more depower. The Moto will be a little faster than a switchblade for a beginner when they are first learning. The Swithcblade will be more predicable and the beginner will know where it is in the sky better vs the Moto will be a little quicker to the touch. Relaunch is great on both. Lighter winds the Moto will fly easier in the sky than the SB as it is lighter with 3 struts instead of 5, but has less power than the SB. The beginner would have to be more aggressive to generate power on the Moto in light winds vs the SB will be a more pull in and go a little more user friendly. There is no question a beginner can learn on a Moto but the SB can offer more in my eyes for a beginner.

      @@janstibor5952 Jan, The low end of the switchblade is hard to find elsewhere for sure. The Moto will be so incredibly fast compared to the SB though. You will not have the same low end on the Moto but can almost gain it back with speed... Hope that makes sense......

      @@DamienLeroyRUclips i have the switchblade 7,9,12 and the moto 2021 8 and 10. When i want to switch from the 12 m sb at +~23 knts the moto 10 gives me to less power to kite with a tt. And the the 9 sb is beter powerd up in this windrange. The 9 sb is stronger than the 10 moto. I like the moto s when you ride them powerd up. And for foiling also. They Dont have this constant pull like the switchblades.
