Excellent video! Always like the alarm sound here - glad they haven't been changed like the barriers and lights have been. 👍👍 I've been here tonnes over the years, and it's a real treat seeing videos of two of my childhood crossings being uploaded by you on consecutive days 😊

Good video, shame about the weather, maybe we'll get a summer soon. ❤️
Wonder how annoying it must be to live that close to a rail line, nevermind a level crossing. 😏❤️

Thank you 😎 I think most people get used to the sound after a while. I probably wouldn't mind living next to a railway or crossing

Just curious, as a simple American...why is there such a delay between the crossing activating and the actual train?

It is to do with the signalling and how these types of crossings work. They are known as full barrier crossings and are manually controlled and monitored either from an on-site signal box or via CCTV (which is the case for this crossing). As barriers cover the whole road, a train is not allowed to proceed over the crossing unless it is confirmed clear of obstructions once all barriers are down. So when all barriers are down and its clear, signals for a train are set to proceed. Sometimes these signals are a fair distance from the crossing, and also the train is likely to be travelling at speed, which is why a crossing is lowered a few minutes early. This ensures the signals can be changed for the approaching train so that the train can maintain its speed and not stop at a red signal. I hope this helps 😊
