So white would probably play cxd4, simply recapturing, giving black time to move the queen and play Qf7. If Nxd5, cxd5 by white and it's still over for black. Queen can't take on e1 cause it's checkmate (Qxf6), and if queen moves (say Qf8 to defend f6 pawn), Rxe8 and black can't take (Qxe8) cause of Qxf6 checkmate. Prolonging the game with Kg8 is pointless at that stage...
