Lyrics:
Pull the car over
The wildflowers
Cut them with scissors
On the side of a road
There is a closeness
A flower that open
And it surrounds us
Wherever we go
I can’t imagine the world without you
I can’t imagine the close
You are like sunlight
First thing in the morning
Behind my closed eyes
I feel the gold
Flooding like peach
And warm like bathwater
And it surrounds us
Wherever we go
I can’t imagine the world without you
I can’t imagine the glow
You are like springtime
The warm air arriving
The start of a season
The end of the cold
The last in a long line
A softer horizon
And it surrounds us
Wherever we go
I can’t imagine the world without you
I can’t imagine the glow
I can’t imagine the world without you
I can’t imagine the close

“bathwater” as an album title comes from this line in the title track. Poets and philosophers often describe the experience of love as something between people. But to me, unconditional love is something all around us. It is panoramic, atmospheric, enveloping, and all encompassing. Warm like bathwater.
It represents a feeling of love all around you, and in my personal interpretation, a very feminine love.
The title track song was inspired by (and is dedicated to) my mother, from whom I was separated during the pandemic, after she survived breast cancer just a few months prior. Lyrically, it’s a poem that touches on anticipatory grief and childhood memory. I have never before attempted to write something that encompassed a whole lifetime. I approached this daunting task by focusing on specific, seemingly mundane memories - like a childhood memory of her pulling the car over to the shoulder of the road to cut some wildflowers that she thought were beautiful. While the visual imagery contains some of my specific memories, I hope that listeners will be able to assign their own subject to this song though - someone who fills them with an overwhelming feeling of love - whether that love be familial, platonic, romantic, or creative.
They say that when grief strikes, your life flashes before you. The coda (ending) of this song is supposed to be a sonic representation of that feeling - it suddenly abandons its metered, gridlike structure and becomes totally formless, as it swells with the comforting lows of cello, while loop-like thoughts of loss swirl all around the stereo field. The sound design is intended to mimic memory - miscellaneous foley sounds (atmospheric drones, voicemails, car sounds, etc.) weave in and glitch out to symbolize a musical congregation of memories, fluttering and departing as quickly as they appear.
tl;dr: “bathwater” (as an album title) has many possible interpretations, some of which include: unconditional love, ritual, memory, femininity, renewal, and rebirth.
My mom is a breast cancer surviver and I had my own cancer scare a few years back. This song is healing I didn't know I needed. Beautiful album from beginning to end.
so glad you are both ok and that the song has brought you some comfort 🌸
One of my absolute favorites that captures so many beautiful moments in time, thank you so much for this song.
This is still on repeat for me. Absolutely beautiful song, struck a chord with my soul. Aroha Nui Luna 💗
Beautiful chord progressions 💜
I hope you remain original and not become mainstream ever. Your music style is different, & I mean it in the most positive sense! 💛
I found you a year ago walking in Walmart when I heard Waves playing over the speakers. Since then I fell in love with your music because it has such a unique and calming feeling. Waves is still my number one because of the memories now ingrained and attached to it.
I just only recently got my vinyl in the mail and somehow ended up getting a signed one and I'm so grateful I did because you are such a small artist but you deserve so much recognition. I praise you and your music to literally everyone and anyone that I can.
There isn't a whole lot of artists I can say have actually helped me through some tough times but you are one of them.
You and your music are amazing and I hope you go far. You have a talent and it really needs to be spread to more people ❤
Thats a cool creative concept for this song.
hi luna, I have my favorites on the album, great work
Gutwrenching masterpiece! And I hope you get to keep her for a very long time!
