Loved this classic back when I was a kid.. the music alone is very nostalgic 😇🕹👌 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= More from 1985: tinyurl.com/1985-C64-GAMES My Top Picks: tinyurl.com/CCGS-BEST-GAMES
This is - by far - problably the best ROBIN HOOD game, i have ever played on my Commodore 64. It is hard and complicated 😹, but it's actually brilliant 😺👍🕹️. The main menu music 🎵🎶 is cool 😺👍, but the in-game music 🎵🎶 definitely brilliant 😺👍. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 😺👍🕹️!
This is one of the most atmospheric games I have ever played. The dark, brooding forest & the haunting, sad, yet rythmic tune that went so well with the running... Having flowers in your inventory as the godess of the wood appears is just so suggestive. Herne the hunter, bishops and the sheriff is here... I completed it but still return to it. Just running through the woods, sitting down to catch your breath. [I work as the creative director for a software company now and if I could get a game through with just half of the atmosphere of Robin Of The Wood I'd be proud as can be. ] The game ends (you can continue) after you've collected the three arrows (not quivers) from the treeman, but don't let that distract you. Just run, listen and experience. Is hypnotic and completely absorbing.
Yeah I had the same issue first time around back when I was a kid... but somehow I ran past the giant Ent (Tree) with 3 gold bags and, by chance, it exchanged for a weapon... so from that moment on, I knew I was onto something 😇🕹️👌
I'd literally spend hours at a time on this game drawing out maps. Wish I would have kept all of my old note books from when I was a kid... Great game. Very memorable music 😇🕹👌🏹
One of my all time favourites and love the theme tune to this game too - had it as my alarm clock for a while but had to change it as didn't want to associate it with having to get up for work haha 😇🕹️👌
Awesome, that's what I like to hear. One of my favourites too... just so many memories flood back from playing this as a kid. The music instantly brings me back 😇🕹👌 nostalgia overload
I loved playing this game as a kid. I remember running around the forest collecting things. But, I never knew what the point was, or what I was supposed to do. Now that I hear the full set of stuff you’re supposed to do, I realize that I never had a prayer of completing this game. But it was still fun!
Never too late to give it another go. It's a rewarding feeling when you finally obtain the decent weapons. Absolutely love this game and I even have the music as my alarm clock on my phone 🤣🕹👌
Ent: Wait, this isn't Fanghorn Forrest! I knew I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque. Guess I'll just stand around in Sherwood and strike my fabulous pose.
Yeah precisely, I had the same issue with another classic "Starquake", where the mobs would spawn almost instantly... I think "Underwurlde" was another where this would happen. Mind you, as mentioned in the video here... sometimes I'd spawn on a screen and that darned hedgehog would wipe me out straight away 😇🕹️👌
It is interesting how strongly this game seems to be inspired by Robin of Sherwood TV series despite lacking the official license. In-game music is somewhat reminiscent of Clannad's soundtrack for the series and the "mythical" elements in the storyline are somewhat similar, as well. Even the player sprite has certain resemblance to Michael Praed. 😅

The Music is mesmerising and brings me right back to being a kid whenever I hear it 😇🕹👌

A great write-up, capturing exactly what the game entailed. Such a great game 😇🕹👌
Another one of those games where I wandered around aimlessly without really knowing what to do. But still, I enjoyed it a lot 😀

Exactly this. I found that tree by accident once or twice.
Robin of th Wood is a legend about Robin Hood and 8bit computers. It's one of the first games I played.
I'd literally spend hours at a time on this game drawing out maps. Wish I would have kept all of my old note books from when I was a kid... Great game. Very memorable music 😇🕹👌🏹
Absolutely one of my favorite games, I even learned how to play the tune on guitar, and I still do from time to time.
One of my all time favourites and love the theme tune to this game too - had it as my alarm clock for a while but had to change it as didn't want to associate it with having to get up for work haha 😇🕹️👌
Utterly loved this game, and still play it now :)

Haha that made me laugh - good man. Ahh you're a LOTR fan too huh, nice!! 😇🕹️👌 Same
Great game. Really prefer this to games like Sabre Wulf, where enemies constantly spawn out of thin air.

I don't know what it is about the Clannad intro to that TV show... BUt I absolutely love it haha. Rooooobbbinnnnn.... the hooooded mannnn haha 😇🕹️👌
Fantastic game with quite a lot to do
I'll be doing a livestream of this in the near future, one of my favourites 😇🕹️👌
Think this one passed me by. Looked interesting but frustrating. What is it with those hedgehogs. One from the archives indeed.
Yeah those darned hedgehogs are lethal! 🤣🕹👌
good game and soundtrack
Great soundtrack, good memories this game 😇🕹👌
looks great
never played it
Give it a whirl, it was one of my favourites back in the day 😇🕹👌
"Double Bitch", I did not see that comment coming hahaha! Another great and fun review, and a game I look forward to trying.
Haha I try to keep them light-hearted wherever I can 😇🕹️👌
tried this once but didn't understand it. like the graphics and animations
Such a great game when you get the mechanics of the game with the gold bags. Love it 💰💰💰👌
The only game where you can get gold from bashing the bishop 😅.
Bashing the bishop for gold is the way forward huh! Haha 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer lol
thank god i missed this one Cheeky! lol does not look fun for me
Its worth playing though, you might enjoy it! only problem is the labyrinth style map that can get you lost, very quickly! 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer I will give it a try.... i guess... lol
What is that overly gory knight game?
Are you thinking of 'Moonstone' for the Commodore Amiga? That's on the channel in the Amiga playlist - see if that's the one you mean 😇🕹👌
