- How to wake up early without using an Alarm
This is a simple but effective technique for waking up early in the morning. No alarm clock needed!
Step 1: Determine a time you want to wake up (lets call it X am)
Step 2: Just before you lie down on your bed (or whereever you sleep), tell your pillow 3 times, loud enough so that you can hear it in your ears "Wake me up at X am" [don't laugh]
This step is the key. When you say the command loud enough so that you can hear in your ears atleast 3 times, the command gets registered in your brain. [Note: Talking loudly as if talking to an external object or person is just a way of programming your own sub-conscious mind, so it doesn't matter if you say this to yourself, your pillow or anything, just say it loud enough so that your ears can hear three times]
Step 3: Lay down in your bed and goto sleep
Step 4: Your eyes will open at X am
Step 5: Get up and sit on your bed. Allow yourself to sit on the bed for 1-2 minutes, but not more. Otherwise you will go back to bed again
Step 6: Rub your palms togather briskly to generate warmth, and place them on your eyes
Step 7: Get out of the bed.
Give yourself (or your pillow ) a pat on the back to have successfully learnt to set your internal alarm clock!

Reference: This is an ancient Indian technique, has been used for ages by several othe cultures too.
Some tips:
1. You need atleast 7-8 hours of sleep (8-9 if you are a growing kid or teenager) to feel rested and refreshed. The technique will work even otherwise, but it is recommended that you goto bed atleast 7-8 hours before you plan to get up.
2. If you drink plenty of water of night, you might wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. you might need to reset your internal alarm clock by restating the command 3 times to your pillow if this happens.

I tried this technique to wake up at 6:30, but ended up waking at 5:55. Maybe it was because I said the words more than 3 times?

I had tried every trick using alarms but i used to just snooze it and go back to sleep. But this worked great! I wanted to get up at 5:30 but woke up at 4:30 instead!!

woah! day 1 and my pillow kindly woke me up at 4:58, with a 5 am target. that actually surprised me, as i didn’t go to bed until 10:30 and lately i’ve been rudely awaken by the alarm at 5:30-6 and pushing snooze until 7 or 8

An even better technique is going to bed earlier. You can visualize all you want, it's kind of hard to wake up at 5am when you go to sleep at 2am. If you've already gotten a solid 8 hours of sleep it's a hell of a lot easier to get up.
a few years ago, I was in Portugal and my grandmothers friend asked me what time I wanted to wake upnin the morning. OK said 11:00 am. she rubbed my hands and said I want to wake up at 1:00 a few times. the new morning I woke up at 10:55
I've been doing this for countless number of years, thank you so, so much. I always fall right back asleep when my alarm clock goes off, but for some reason even if I don't put my hands on my eyes and on the back of my neck, I still wake up and stay awake. So, thank you sooo much for posting this video, it really helped me!

I used to have a weird habit of talking to myself before I sleep, so I actually tried this trick before I watch this video... It does work... But when I asked to wake up at 4:00, it woke me up at like 2:59...

Great video it worked for the first 6 nights and then I had to change the time I wanted to get up at. So for me, I had to do 5:00am for 6 nights and then 5:15am for 5 nights and then I could wake up at any time and not have t change it. Keep trying it will work. Like any technique it takes practice before you can make it work perfectly.When you master it, you will be able to wake up at the EXACT desired time consistently. Keep trying, good luck!

I seriously didn't believe the video but I tried it and I woke up on about 6 hours of sleep! I said 5:15 and I woke up at 5:18, no alarm! Nice! (Had a back up set for 5:30 but it wasn't needed)

Yes, you can tell to yourself also....but that triggers the conscious mind instead of the subconscious and that's why some people keep waking up again and again and as conscious mind tries to figure out what time it is. Talking to pillow shifts responsibility to subconscious mind and you can enjoy deep sleep while the subconscious takes care of waking you up :)
