I was at piazza Venezia years ago but never inside or on top of the Monument. I heard that some people don't like the Vittoriano mostly for the historical connection with " that" period. I think it's a spectacular structure and in few weeks is going to be all mine. On the way down with my dear wife of 32 years we'll have a Aperol spritz. Thanks for your brilliant video, as always.

Giuseppe Sacconi, architetto e uomo polìtico, deve aver avuto molti detrattori riguardo alla construzione del Vittoriano, nonostante la sua bellezza. Roma moderna? Non credo. La sua massima atrazzione risiede nella sua antichità. Buon pittore Antonio Rizzi. Congratulazioni, Impero Romano. Sei riuscito ad entrare nel Vittoriano senza che una guardia lo vietasse. Salute!
I gabbiani che frequentano il Vittoriano sono molto spavaldi e si fanno avvicinare parecchio, devono essere molto abituati alla gente. 🙂 Nella costruzione del Vittoriano buttarono giù, aimè, un intero quartiere pieno di strutture d'epoca, alcune delle quali medievali, cosa che ha creato un infinità di polemiche, però il Vittoriano rimane comunque un monumento unico nel suo genere che abbellisce lo skyline di Roma. Известный персонаж того времени сказал, что статуй было больше, чем жителей, 😄 конечно частично преувеличивая, но древний Рим действительно был полон произведений искусства, гораздо больше, чем сегодня. Ce n'est pas tant l'imposante allure du bâtiment qui a retenu mon attention que l'ornementation des bas et haut reliefs, de la statuaire, des colonnes et des Victoires qui les couronnent. Le travail des sculpteurs est d'une finesse et d'une précision extrême. Et la blancheur nue des parois renforce cette impression. Pouvez-vous me préciser de quel matériaux est construit ce monument ( tuff, calcaire, marbre ?...). Peut-être auriez-vous dû choisir un autre moment de la journée pour votre "ascension" car le soleil aurait davantage mis en valeur tout les éléments de l'édifice.... j'arrête ici ma lecture pour la reprendre demain. Le marbre utilisé est le marbre de Bresciano également connu sous le nom de marbre de Botticino, dont les carrières sont en fait situées près de Brescia. Choix étrange étant donné que la Rome voisine possède de grandes carrières de travertin qui ont été largement utilisées depuis la Rome antique. 🙄 Le facteur lumière n'est pas facile étant donné que le monument est exposé au nord et qu'à un moment donné de la journée il en fait partie. Mais je dois dire que le contre-jour avait toujours son propre effet scénique. 😉 Merci Pierre, comme toujours. 🙂👍
Je termine la vidéo par la visite de l'intérieur du Vittoriano. Petite déception étant donné la majesté de l'extérieur. Ces monuments néo classique ont souvent je trouve, un aspect un peu lourd et ostentatoire. C'est le cas aussi chez nous à Paris: notre arc de triomphe (sous lequel repose les restes de notre soldat inconnu) voulu par Napoléon Bonaparte sur la perspective des Champs-Elysées ne fait pas vraiment dans la finesse. Ces bâtiments sont d'abord là pour exalter le sentiment nationaliste des peuples. Les peintures m'évoque celles du peintre Gustave Klimt, peintre autrichien ayant vécu à la même période. Et voilà ! Le Vittoriano n'a plus de secret pour moi !😆👍...
Eheheh, en réalité il y aurait aussi un autre grand espace à l'intérieur du Vittoriano, malheureusement toujours fermé au public depuis l'époque du covid, et utilisé comme musée du risorgimento, mais disons que vous avez une idée précise de l'intérieur . 😄 🙂👍
Maybe it’s not your style of videos but it could be nice if you make a video about Rome’s obelisks. You will need to crisscross the city though. That’s a great excursion for anyone visiting Rome. I went to see all of them. Pity I missed the Abyssinian obelisk

I know it’s part of Rome now but I really dislike the Vittorio Emmanuel monument. It has no good Fengshui, it interrupts the skyline. Mussolini’s Conciliatory Avenue and Imperial Corso are not that obstructive

If one thinks of the buildings demolished to build the Vittoriano, one certainly gets a stomach ache. The Torlonia-Bolognetti palace, the convent of the Ara Coeli and the medieval tower of Paul III, just to name a few, were splendid. 🙄

In realtà il Vittoriano fu costruito ben prima del fascismo.
It's not so well liked because its construction destroyed so much of this superb archaelogical site for something a bit banal.
