The audio ducking is called audio automation - if you use the pen tool (P) and then hold command (ctrl on pc) you can convert the points to bezier to have more natural curves in the automation. Another tip, holding shift and dragging while you have multiple points selected will allow you to move them all together horizontally or vertically with out moving the other way so you can easily drag your points to a different spot in the clip with out risk of changing the volume, or it will let you change the volume without risking moving the point left/ right (this works for one or multiple points at once). Also taking a still and adding scale/ motion is known as the Ken Burns effect.
The audio ducking feature was one of my favorite things from Pinnacle Studios, which I used to use. Thanks for letting me know how two finally get it working on Premiere!
Cool stuff dude. Another powerful tip for Premiere and After FX users is to LEARN common shortcuts. Speeds up your process and actually makes editing fun, almost like playing an instrument when you’re in flow.
You can a get lot of these effects on various softwares but mixing sounds on Premiere Pro is on another level. It creates a big difference in your video quality.
Dude the audio ducking was a game changer. I HATE keyframing audio and I am super used to working with DAW that allow me to add points just like you’ve shown. Since I’m new to video editing that was on my list of things to find. Thanks so much!
Jack Stolz - Just think of it as audio automation like any other. This one (premiere) happens to be clip based rather than timeline based though. I'd recommend experimenting with using the automation in combination with the drag and drop fades/ crossfades to give you more options. Also Justin doesn't mention this, but you can make many automation points by simply switching to the pen tool (P) so you don't have to keep holding command to make points then switch back to arrow with (V). Even further (since you're an audio person) if you hold command (ctrl on pc) while the pen tool is active you can convert existing automation points to bezier (curved) and drag the handles to create more natural sounding fades as you probably know from working with audio.
very technical for me as a beginning beginner, BUT the ease in and ease out is something I can start using now as I incorporate photos in my video. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks Justin, the trick you showed about audio ducking could keep you from having to export the clip to Audition. The gotcha to this technique for me is that this technique uses keyframes, as opposed to checking a box in Audition. This is a great technique to use if you only want to duck the audio and nothing else. I've got to try this out as this is a great tip.
Hi Justin. I am searching for ways to improve my travel videos, and I have seen a lot of different expects on youtube, that are telling me what to do. However I think some of them are wasting my time and talking and talking without making me smarter. So thanks for getting straight to the point, I have subscribed to your channel!
Hey Justin :) almost five years later, here I am watching your video and it has been soooo helpful! Thanks for creating this video and going straight to the point.
Before I graduated in film school, we only had books and each year the softwares update frequently. So watching these even after school really helps sharpen my knowledge because the software is just so big and I would use 4-6 NLE. RUclips barely had any tutorials for things like these so I am thankful people make these videos This channel is a really great start. Keep up the work.
Thank you, Justin. I've been watching your videos for years. They are by far the most helpful, the most clear, and offer the most value of any other editing videos out there. Truly, thank you!
Overall I love your videos but there are two things that bug me as an editor: 1) use keyboard shortcuts. CTRL D for default transitions, things like this saves you hours which is money in the long run. 2) Use the tabs at the top. Premier has set up tabs to show you better windows for what youd need, to stay on the "All Panels" tab just makes no sense when you then have to bring the things you need in and out.
Hey thanks for the tips! I do know about Ctrl D and should use it more and I just find myself working in all tabs for most projects but each editor has their own workflow quirks I suppose!
So you are telling me i can literally take 10 seconds going to each point and clicking CTRL + D for a transition instead of keyframing opacity on each clip for hours... Thank god i found this comment.
Thank you so much!!! I have no idea what i'm doing. my videos are just so lame. So thank you for teaching in a way that actually made sense. I just started out. I don't have pro yet just elements, but other people are so confusing with their videos... SO THANK YOU!!! I hope you have more learning videos for me to check out!!
justin odisho is the youtube king of editing tutorials and has been for the past 4+ years. you have taught me very much and helped me make many dollars. LONG LIVE ODISHO ⚡⚡⚡
Love it ! I love how you go straight to the point and demo it out for us. I think there's lot more to learn from you. But definitely will want to start improving on the sound design portion for my video. Thanks for the great content Justin!
By following this tips, I think my video became more interesting and I can now let the viewers focus on the text rather than on the background. Thanks for this. It's very helpful!
i love videso like this because im new to editing and things liek this helps me utilize this stuff in ways others wouldnt expect because its almost considerd a advanced technique but used in a newb way and because of that it makes my videos better and gives me a bit of a dopemine hit to make me like learning it even more
Thank you for this! We are new to video editing and this really helped understand some of the capabilities within Premier Pro. My favorite was the sound dubbing. Thanks again!! Coming to your page from here on as we build our own.
5:00 Wow, just WOW~ thank you for this one, I didn't even know how to search this tip and just stumbled upon your video now and here's the answer 😢 thank you!!
@@JustinOdisho You are very welcome, Jus. Keep it comin'. You're a wonderful Educator. That's an appreciable charismatic quality to possess. Thank you for your consistency, as well.
That blur technique with the text was class
You save my life on the frustration that editing a video being a beginner gives you... so i'm forever grateful.
With all the soft soft tutorials that exist on YT, yours just created that "light bulb illumination" mont in my head. Thanks for taking the

Thank you Justin

You are a very gifted teacher. I've been teacNice tutorialng soft for over 50 years and really appreciate your video being a beginner in soft soft.

such a solid video man
Thanks, appreciate it!
solid not good?
You can a get lot of these effects on various softwares but mixing sounds on Premiere Pro is on another level. It creates a big difference in your video quality.
I've already used some of these in my videos and they make a big difference, can't wait to try out the rest. Thanks dude!!

Jack Stolz If you have a DAW you can always import the two audio files in your DAW and just sidechain the audio of clips with your voice
pikasfed323 that’s true! I guess just having everything in one spot excited me haha

It’s perfect for intros and outros, makes the video seamless!
After a while,
you will like keyframing because you get to control things. Go to Adobe learn section and it will help you get the basics down.
Never knew I could add keyframes directly on the audio track. It's so much faster and easier than using the Effects panel. Thanks!
back in and recently got soft soft again, it felt strange and i had previously just taught myself the software. Finding your videos is helping
4 years later and the video is still solid. Thank you, man!
It worked for my 64-bit PC. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the tips Justin!

Yes audition definitely has more advanced and automated tools but this can be nice for simple ducks
3 years later, this video is still solid info. Thanks for the tips Justin!
