If you are a beginner and aer looking for a good cue - ABSOLUTELY IGNORE THIS VIDEO. Ask a local vendor or take a look at reviews of cues from Pechauer, Mezz, Cuetec, Lucasi
Whoever made this list has zero clue on cues.😂 1 out of the 5 are considered *good, and that's the P3. The other 4 are trash. I've been playing competitively for almost 30yrs, and I've played with just about every single quality built cue and a few not so great one's, and quality wins every time. Currently I play with a custom Joss/pechauer rouge 12.4 carbon shaft. But trust me when I say.., this top-5 list is a joke.
you ever heard of a Tim Monk cue? wonder if its any good. also, what makes the custom better? asking for real information. I'm torn between custom and something like a meucci or predator
@curtisnstacey What makes them better is the materials used and the quality of craftsmanship versus mass production. I have never heard of that maker. Predator. School and J. Flowers are probably the best outside of custom.
@curtisnstacey I play with carbon fiber, but if you're already using a low deflection wood shaft it's not worth switching. Noshaft will be zero deflection, or English would be incredibly hard to apply.
@@DrClawizdead my last question. i know this one is subjective to the user. but what tip do you use and/or recommend? im currently using a lepro tip, im just old school. i know there's so many new makers. im still with the old lepro.
@@robdetuinman2viking has very good shafts. The vikore shaft is probably one of the best wood shafts i have ever played with. And their CF shafts are some of the best on the market, but their $500 price tag and not being big at the professional level is why people don't know that. They don't have Cuetec or Predator money, but they are far from this garbage. When you talk about beginner cues, you're talking about Action, Elite, Players... which not to say they are bad either, but...
Lol he uses predator now, like what? He only used that stick for one tournament cause he didn't have one. He wanted a Meucci but could only afford a $20 stick.
While balance is important, feel, flex, hit, deflection, taper, and a host of other factors are just as important. A hand built cue built for the individual player is best.
@@guideandreviewpro I used to build pool cues. The single most difficult thing I have ever done. I worked with my maple shafts for up to 5 years before they became a shaft. Nothing plays like a really good maple shaft
Longoni, Cuetec, Meucci, and Lucasi completely suck. If you want a production cue to be seriously competitive you would need to look no further than Pechauer, Schon, or Mezz. And not necessarily in that order. More like M,S,P. A fourth would be Predator. 5th would be Jacoby. 6th would be Joss. Notice I said production cue, not custom cue.
I'm a beginner player, but I do know that no brand has won more championships than Cuetec. I was wondering what your thoughts were on that? Also, I've never seen any reputable list with Predator so low. Are you sure you're not speaking on preference? Again, I'm extremely ignorant of this subject. Do keep that in mind.

IF YOU ARE A BEGINER and you found this video because you are looking for your first cue, here you have some tips : The Fury awp is good for beginers, the other 4 are pure trash and the low cost carbon fiber shafts are not even playable due to their exagerated deflection. Trust me, I had one. You dont have good carbon shafts under 400€, it’s the reality… So for a beginer is better to chose a nice wood like the fury, mcdermott, buffalo, viking, etc. Then when you become more “serious” in the game you can chose a lot of good material like Lucasi, J Flowers or Poison (great deals) or Predator, Longoni, Mezz, Cuetec if you want to put the price. I don’t understand why people make videos like this if they don’t know nothing about pool cues…
@@Backhandlawzget yourself a cheap cuetec, or something around the $300 mark more or less. You will run into issues with a low quality cue that will make you not want to play. Especially with cues like these, the balance will be off, they may or may not be straight... save yourself the hassle if you want to be serious and spend the extra money for quality. People always say buy a cheap cue to begin with, but that's completely untrue. If you buy a POS cue, you're not going to want to play at all.
