(20:44) "It will catch up with you someday Trimble, it always does somehow." Best line of the whole episode. (Trimble paid for Grandby up a little big horn in June 1876) One of my favorite episodes.
@@princeharming8963 especially after the bass drum clincher right after he says “Custer”. I expected to hear the famous whistler whistle right after it!
Good episode, but the title is slightly misleading. Custer is only mentioned at the very end of the show, in fact the last word spoken is "Custer" by the great actor John Dehner. Still a good story about an army deserter arrested by Marshall Dillon for suspicion of murder and horse rustling.
Gunsmoke's episode titles are often unhelpful. Many seem unrelated to the story, and many begin with the name Matt, Kitty, Chester or Doc with the rest of the title too ambiguous to distinguish one from another.
William Conrad was a god. Check out "Cannon" for his later television work. Outstanding.
"Looks like you run into the wrong people, fella."
Cracked me up the way Chester says it."

This is the kind of twist ending The Whistler would do.
True and well said.
I was thinking the same thing!

Whirlpool a uil
Dillon decided that Trimble was guilty even though the law found him not guilty, or at least not proven. So he is not an impartial lawman then?
SPOILER ALERT: The title itself is a spoiler because it has no relevance to the story except to give away the surprise ending.
Not one of the best episodes for sure they didn't say sure enough usually sure is in every other line sure it is in the later episode's anyway
