Not since growing up watching Malcolm Douglas have I enjoyed so much watching a series of videos. Thank you so much to you and the traditional owners for allowing a glimpse into this amazing world. Much respect from a born and raised Perth boy.
You most definitely are providing content that only he could bring and for that I thank you very much as Malcolm to me was an absolute legend and inspiration for how much I love our fine country and respect the traditional owners way of life like I do today.
Thanks brother for your time documenting this, your patience and understanding goes a long way towards the Indigenous Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. Second to none no doubt! Love this we need more people like yourself in Australia 👏🏾💯
Went dugong n turtle hunting last week with the darumbal mob from rockhampton for a kup murri, an what a experience it was, being native to aotearoa new zealand and learning from the indigenous people of Australia will stay with me forever.
Hi Nathan, I'm watching your channel literally from the other side of the world, couldn't be farther away! I've always been interested in different cultures, specially that of indigenous people. I knew a bit about their history and culture, read some books but nothing has drawn me in as much as your channel, been binge watching older episodes now for days and can't get enough of it. I can see how much you respect and appreciate them and in return how they do the same with you and welcome you with open arms in their midst ... It's a beautiful symbioses and also very important i think, specially for Australians unaware of the beautiful culture of these people. It struck me when you talked about cruelty's they have endured since us white folks arrived there and how they don't carry a grudge and welcome you. I'm Dutch and we did horrible things in Indonesia wich I visited two times, the same there, no hard feelings only love and smiles... very humbling to be honest.... sorry for rambling on, just wanted to let you how much i appreciate your work! keep them episodes coming bro!
Man, this series is mind blowing. Really really enjoying it so far, these legends are just so cool, my kind of people. Listening to the old fellas talk is absolutely mesmerising, I could sit and listen to them forever. Dude, that turtle looked amazing, I’ve never tried it like that either, sitting back bloody drooling, haha. And the fact everyone gets together and just bonds and gets on with it and shares it al around is what we all should do more of. I can’t wait to get back up that way, very soon hopefully. Thanks so much legend man. Truly loving it mate.
That was my takeaway from the day too mate, sharing all that time together. I learn so many valuable life lessons out on country with different mob, lessons that i then bring home and try to implement into my life and this one, being more present and making time for friends and family was a big one.
Wow.......what an amazing thing to watch......no difference to a farmer killing its stock to feed their family and ours......all meat we eat was once alive n kicking....Well done Nath n the boys !!
That made me hungry and looked delicious, what a process also they really are natural conservationists and have a lot of respect for the environment. Once again great videos
What a honour nath ❤️thanks so much for sharing this amazing mate 🤙🏽 the hunt the gathering the work and share it with us 💙 and thanks to the local lads❤️🖤💛 Safe travels much love and respect 🙏🏾
Thanks for having us along to share the longest living culture, great to see the teamwork to prepare this feast to eat and share with there families back home ,great work Nate Thanks .
It's that sort of understanding and respect for the elderly and community spirit that you have and those lads have that everyone else needs to have. Your vids are always on song Nath ❤ much respect mate.
Wow. What an experience. Yes that's right, It's their cultural practice & right to be able to live off what the land / ocean provides that they have been doing for a long time. Thanks for the journey & incite into the cultural ways Nath 🙏🙏 I've had Hangi with the Maoris & Fijians before, & that looked epic Cheers
Interesting similar to a Maori hangi cuzzies,Would love to try some hearty food like that gonna try croc soon had kanga bangers they are different lol Bara is one of the best fish n one of my faves i've ever had.Aus kai is good but not the pies haha
I remember my dad and grandpa was roasting turtle for us and showed us our way the island way my dad was named David Mills we always called him Millsy and my grandfather named Kenneth Sam he was from PNG I still remember them god bless them and they always in my heart ❤️❤️❤️
Good Afternoon 😊 Awesome to be with the locals , sharing knowledge and experiences 👏🏼 Its a great to see culture and heritage from the Tribe👌🏽Have a great time & Cheers 🍻 Mate from South Africa 🇿🇦
I whould call this Torres Straights Islanders feast hence different cooking, different language, different identity , different people with a different indigenous flag ...!!. Different from Aboriginal feast and Aboriginal people of Australia....correct me if wrong!!.... Good video 👍
Aboriginal people and Torres strait Islander have been mixing in the Cape York long before the white Man came it's different up in far North QLD because their culture is a mix of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal in hunting, dancing, eating etc. Just try Go up and tell them Blackfullas up there that they're not Aboriginal. You'll be in for a shock!I know for a fact you've never been to North Queensland!😂😅
This is brilliant and informative. Its actually good to see indigenous Australians hunting, foraging and cooking in the way its been done for many, many centuries. 49:08 Are these Mantaray or Stingray skins? It's the shape of them? If so, their huge!! Im probably real wrong here but, that gut feeling 😂 Great viewing.
not all humans share the same culture. we as humans should respect these different cultures even if we don't fully understand them. after all a little mutual respect goes a long way.
Meet so many lovely ppl 15 yrs ago. When I was in injinu Sardis bamaga. Need to get back up there. Fishing of jetty in bamaga watching locals spear squid as they drifted under the walkway so many great memories hunting in swans meeting too penny and his boys out on scrub bull pig hunt. Then getting invited to his house. Just best memory of my trip
Fantastic Episode Nath ... just quietly I am a Black fella ... but i had no idea until the last few years LOL i love what you do and the way you share it with us thanks Mate
Another ridiculously good video Nath, just missed you yesterday headed north from Childers! Safe travels on your journey, if you ever need somewhere to pop the rooftop in Tully drop us a message
Absolutely amazing Nate, I would love to know before bottles of soy/ etc what they used in the old days. Love hearing the old guy's with their knowledge of what you take and how much. I (as I'm sure many have) am coming a long way to understand this culture through what you are doing. From a natural born "white" fella I really appreciate what you are showing the world. Cheers Mate
@34:00 more like the title ur boys harpooned has swam off with the tip of the harpoon in it…. The boat pushed the stick with the turtle on one end and the brother on the other end… either the brother had to let go of harpoon/spear, or the turtle had to break off, or the spear would’ve broken…
This was so special! Nathan, my fella is waki waki tribe, but has never did this, the fact,, no women there, can I ask if them fellas take a brother for a trip, it would mean a lot to us, as 28 years marriage, he’s a good fella, he would love this shit, he 47, pretty fit
@@MICKMAKO13 Ignorance is bliss! There will always negative feedback lmao but the thing is Nobody cares about them because they have no CULTURE 🙄 When outsiders look at Australia what do they think about ? The union jack ?? That's the white culture this the ultimate difference between our culture and whatever their culture is...
Not since growing up watching Malcolm Douglas have I enjoyed so much watching a series of videos. Thank you so much to you and the traditional owners for allowing a glimpse into this amazing world. Much respect from a born and raised Perth boy.

Is that Waka waka? Gayndah area? I’m not sure but I imagine if he was up there and showed some interest they’d be happy to take him out.
I love with cultural history every piece of the animal is used. Only recently as a society are we so wasteful
True that.
I’d be interested in what the boys think of the Voice
What’s happened to Dan, Dane different path taken to old days in the Wenlock
