I really want to get an amazon tree boa someday and I was suspicious about the bad rap because most snake aren't too bad defensiveness wise after you work with them a bit. Really loved seeing all of yours.
I got mine at one month old.. naturally nippy. I just let mine pop a nitrile glove on my hand.. and it hasn't offered to even strike anymore. 🤷♂️ my guess, nitrile tastes like shit.
Bad reputation for biting or not, should not be the reason not to get into them, some day ppl will realize the hobby is more fun when you have reptiles that actually have some attitude. They assume it’s mean, no it’s just scared and protective, enjoy it, they are all awesome. Unless you want to buy another pretty, yet booooooring ball python geeeeezus.
There's one at the reptile shop here that is having a really bad she'd. I asked the girl behind the counter why they don't help it out and they pretty much say oh you can handle these type of boas... I'm thinking about buying it... Should I?
How long do you keep them in tubs? And bout how long till they need their full sized enclosure? Thanks looking into get one of these I have e a 24x24x36 tall pvc but think that be too big for a baby. Or no.
This is wonderfu, and I just subscribedl! I love to see those who challenge the stereotypes about snakes. You have some real beauties in colors I've never seen before! Those bright orange ones with light and dark blotches are magnificent!
Question. I recently got my first ATB and hes housed in a 18x18x24, how big does he need to be before I put him in my 36x24x24? Hes about 20 inches at the moment. Thanks
I love the reds on Kal and cleanness of Fogo. Question, do you own any that are WC and if so, how do you treat for parasites? I generally like CBB ATBs, but sometimes I see WCs in shitty conditions and want to give it a better life, but I have no clue how to go about internal/external parasites. Great video!
I own only 1 WC animal. She has been treated with Panacur. But be careful when treating, because snakes, just like people have good parasites as well. So wiping everything out in the gut will totally throw off their GI track. That's why it's good to know what you're treating. Get a fecal done by your local vet before dosing any animal. My .02.
They can be kept communally, yes. I just don't really like doing it because I like to observe my snakes without the risk of getting it muddied up with two snakes in each cage.
I have two amazons, one is an adult male and he is extremely nippy (and that shit hurts), while I have a pre-adult female and is extremely tame. My female also likes to wrap her tail around money if its on the bed or in our hands lol
The thing is, under bright light, look how small the pupils get, they rely heavy on sensing versus sight in the bright sun, my green tree pythons pupils almost vanish in sunlight, crazy.
They say the same about carpets and over the last 22 years I learned with any snake it’s how you treat, raise and house a snake. Of courts there is individuality with any species on earth but what I’m saying is the majority of all snakes. Of course I’m also eliminating cage and food aggression that’s common and normal for a wild animal. I was strictly referring to handling snakes..
Mine is evil! It doesn’t matter how much I hold her. She got out of her enclosure and came into my room, climbed up the wall and was hanging out on my guitars, she was striking out words my face. She hates me. I have no idea why. She doesn’t try to bite anyone else and everyone BUT myself are scared to death of her. I have over 200 ball pythons and boas. She is the only snakes that try’s to bite me no matter what.

Nothing better than a atb giving you a kiss on the cheek😂
I know I'm late to this video, but thanks for sharing. Not sure I'll ever go this route, but they are some gorgeous animals. Love those eyes!
Hello again - Do you know a good source for ATB's? I can't seem to find any ATB's for sale.
Hi - Did you ever do a PART 2 of this episode on Amazon Tree Boas ?
There's one at the reptile shop here that is having a really bad she'd. I asked the girl behind the counter why they don't help it out and they pretty much say oh you can handle these type of boas... I'm thinking about buying it... Should I?
The calico is beautiful 💗 all of their colors are!
How long do you keep them in tubs? And bout how long till they need their full sized enclosure? Thanks looking into get one of these I have e a 24x24x36 tall pvc but think that be too big for a baby. Or no.

At what price should I be looking for one like Cal? I don't really care if it's calico or not, but I just love that red and black patterns.

Your Amazon Tree Boa family is awesome - I love the names!
How do you tame them out they want to strike at you every chance they get especially the wild caught they aren’t used to human presence
not a lot of videos on these guys, considering getting one myself n this definitely gave a good feel for what they're like
very cool collection of ATBs! Nice video too.
That yellow and orange was insane

L_ Corso an 18x18x24 is plenty big for an adult IMO. Especially if it’s a male.
Thank you for quick response!!
L_ Corso you got time pal, you will know when it’s time.
Nice reptile channel
Best breeder/website for ATB’s?
Are they picky feeders
Not at all :)

That was for internals by the way. Externals, can be treated with Prevent A Mite or Reptile Relief. Usually those are for mites or ticks.
Communal right????
They can be kept communally, yes. I just don't really like doing it because I like to observe my snakes without the risk of getting it muddied up with two snakes in each cage.
when mating , should you leave the male in all day /night or should you take him out after a few hrs ?

They aren't aggressive, they're defensive. There's quite a difference.
