7:14. That nice little closet is actually a 'bedstee'. It's where people slept. They were very common in farms, even up to the early 20th century (1900). Its advantage was that it could be built into the wall of a living room, removing the need for a separate bedroom. It's too short to lie down in as it was believed sleeping in a more or less sitting position was good. Also, people in the past were shorter.
Nice video of Zaanse Schans, my playground as a kid. They made a highway through my village and saved the old wooden houses by transporting them to Zaanse Schans. So I still walk there and see them. What a pity there was not enough wind for letting the mills operate. You missed the views and sounds of turning large wooden gears and hearing the rattling sounds of the wooden parts and the groaning of the whole construction.
Morgen is actually "tomorrow", not morning (ochtend in dutch). But we duchies like to shorten goedemorgen (good tomorrow/goodmorrow) to morgen so you're half right hahaha
Thank you so much! We’re trying to learn so this is a great tip. We have Duolingo but we’re making slow progress haha. Whenever I try to speak German in stores, I usually get an English response 😂
Incomplete comment you gave and you are wrong. "Morgen" not only means tomorrow, it also is synonym for "ochtend". Dutch and English are sibling languages together with German and Frisian. Morgen also means morning, the same word is also used in German, Gute Morgen and in Frisian, Goeiemoarn.
@@dikkiedik53 As I said, we like to shorten goedemorgen to morgen, so she's half right. We use the word to say good morning, but the translation of morgen isn't morning, it's tomorrow
thank you so much! We are Canadian grandparents going to Netherlands with our older son and 2 granddaughters from Germany!!! Going on a road trip!!! I can't thank you enough for your imformative videos 🥰@@FowlerFamAdventures
There’s a car park located at the entrance which is pretty large! We arrived when they opened and it was easy to find a place but I don’t know how it is later in the day.
Small supermarket ?? The specific shop might be, but as such it is not exactly Albert Heijn, is a major chain. Nowadays part of the Ahold-Delhaize group (Ahold = Albert Heijn Holding), is international.
Yes! We saw more whilst in the Netherlands! This particular one was just one room and themed with old fashioned candies and weighing scales. It made it even more special
How beautiful! I loved the look inside the windmill.
Thank you for watching!! It was certainly interesting

Your communication with your kids is excellent. You ask them their opinions and what they think. Well done mother and father !
Oh this is such a wonderful comment to receive, thank you 🥰❤️

@@FowlerFamAdventures Hahaha it wouldn't be strange to get an English response if you speak German in a Dutch place
