Power plans do nothing for in game performance while also wasting extra energy. As a content creator you should at least do the bare minimum to research the topic rather than just regurgitating advice that doesn't work. I don't know where this power plan myth came from but it takes less than 2 minutes to look up a performance comparison to see that there is zero statistically significant difference between balanced and high performance.
Bro what? When doing videos like these I benchmark whenever I change settings to see what works best for me. From my testing on my build, my FPS AVG and FPS MAX were slightly higher on Ult Power and FPS MIN was 50% higher. If it weren't for this I wouldn't have included it in the video (just like I mentioned with windows visual effects as there wasn't enough of a change to warrant it for me). I would never just "look up performance comparisons" and repeat people's info untested unless I could see exactly how someone has run their testing. I do sometimes do this if I want to see how thing performed on different builds. Which I have done for power plans and is why I said in the video "I recommended for most people, they should use balanced". I'm just sharing my results and what works for my build. I understand that using Ult puts a lot of stress on your PC and if not cooled properly is not a good idea. My PC is however very well cooled and I did see a difference. I don't know where you're getting your info from or if you are actually testing builds using these settings but as mentioned above there is not "zero statistically significant" at least in my case. If you can point me to where my testing may be wrong or why there was such a difference in my FPS MINs that would be great and super helpful! But just assuming that "As a content creator I should at least do the bare minimum to research" when you have no idea how I have been testing/gathering results and assuming I'm just saying this for the sake of it I don't think is fair.
@@wyldcs What are you referring when you say "FPS MIN"? 1% lows? 0.1% lows? Or just the lowest all time fps in the session? High and ultimate performance decreases how much the cpu clocks down when it thinks it doesn't need maximum performance. The biggest difference you will see in the lows can probably be explained by less important moments in the game where fps doesn't really matter to begin with like round start, after you've just been killed ect. And as for the AVG FPS if your 1% lows are increasing then obviously your average should too, albeit not as much. The only thing I don't understand is why your highest fps would go up, even on balanced if the pc is getting pushed hard then it should already be using the cpu to it's full potential. There will be little to no difference in actual gameplay for 99% of people. The only exceptions are on laptops where the power is a lot more limited due to improving battery life and heating problems. The source of my info is that I've A/B tested the power plans myself and noticed no difference, and performance comparisons online seem to have the same result. As for why you didn't experience the same thing I honestly have no clue since it's kinda hard to figure out without any info on your specific setup, but the first place I would look would be your bios configuration. I haven't tested anything like this so take it with a big grain of salt but I could see something like PBO (which I have enabled) potentially overwriting the windows powerplan. Every brand of motherboard also has different bios settings and defaults to an extent so if you have some brand that came preloaded with some goofy settings that doesn't optimize power usage by default that could be a potential reason.
