    My life changed too when I started doing this and putting money in stocks. The first few years it as really great, but this year I haven't felt like my portfolio is doing well. I have lost more than $40,000 from my portfolio the past four months, and it's now very worrisome.

      The year has been really rough for everybody. But I've been able to cushion the effect though. Have you thought of using an investment advisor? They can make you good money especially during uncertain times like this.

      Oh, really? I have never thought of that as an option. Can I ask who it is you've been working with? I bet I could use some help myself.

    I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for....

    I don’t know why they call it the golden years. The work on this never stops as information with retirement changes constantly. Not to mention the constant uncertainty of how bad American government has become to its people. Unless you have two solid incomes from a marriage, pray a lot.

    Please do not push annuity too much. It carries heavy fee and/or front load charge by insurers and/or sales agents. Unless it is extremely low fee based, most of them do not qualified as sound financial planning choices.

    • @Markrtsoon
      @Markrtsoon 6 месяцев назад +3

      You probably need to study the modern day annuity. Many of the index annuities protect the downside and give you good upside with 6 years commitment.

    • @alalfred3474
      @alalfred3474 6 месяцев назад

      @@Markrtsoon You are right that there are good annuity policies out there. But I hate to point that the majority of annuity policies remain pretty traditional in their fee and benefit estimation, maybe with slight adjustments for marketed thru advisors and money managers.

    • @seestuff09
      @seestuff09 2 месяца назад

      This is incorrect. Many people confuse annuity products. A single premium income annuity is a very low fee product as opposed to a variable annuity which is fee heavy.

    Good video. Does the withdrawal rate matter if you never touch the principal? I realize that requires an ultra conservative portfolio but for argument sake let’s say RMDs and SS cover expenses. Other than inheritance why would I care how the rest is invested as it’s just numbers on a piece of paper if I never use it.

    In general, this was very good information and I realize there is a finite amount of information that is practical with a broad audience. I would like to have seen a segment in addition to the other income sources, asset drawdown which could significantly add to the other income sources. This is the down-side of retirement advice coming from sources that benefit financial to not have clients drawdown assets. It's a classic conflict of interest.

  • @johnc4789
    @johnc4789 6 месяцев назад +2

    The graph shows that 4% withdrawal makes your money last, while 5%, 6%, and 7% make you run out of money. If you follow the rule that 4% is a safe withdrawal and you now have hired someone to manage your money for a 1% fee, you now have to pull out 5% to also pay your money manager. You see where that takes you.

    Is it OK to move my fidelity company account to an IRA during my retirement transition???

    • @Fidelity
      @Fidelity  4 месяца назад

      Hi Felix, thanks for reaching out, and congratulations on your retirement transition! I'm sure that is exciting.
      It sounds like you are interested in moving a workplace account, like a 401(K), to a Fidelity IRA as you prepare for retirement. Contacting your current 401(k) plan administrator is a great place to start, as plan rules vary by employer. Since you mentioned your plan was with Fidelity, you can reach the Workplace Retirement team Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 12 midnight ET. Please say "401(k)" when prompted by the automated system to be connected to the right group.
      Fidelity Contact Information: www.fidelity.com/customer-service/contact-us
      Keep in mind that before funds are accepted, you will need the appropriate IRA to receive them. If your 401(k) is pretax, this is usually a Traditional or Rollover IRA. We have a step-by-step guide on transferring an old 401(k) to a Fidelity Rollover IRA linked below.
      How to move your old 401(k) into a rollover IRA: www.fidelity.com/retirement-ira/401k-rollover-ira-steps
      If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
