  • Official Simple Little Life video of: Make - bottle opener/screwdriver/pry-bar thingy. How to make an EDC bottle opener/pry-bar/screwdriver/thingy. I always have shop scrap that I can't bring myself to get rid of after cutting out a knife blank. Here's one of the ways I put it to use.

    About Simple Little Life:
    This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
    Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
    Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

    So as a journeyman electrician one idea is a small cable striping knife, the blade is a about 3/4 wide and a inch or inch and a quarter long, Klein makes one called cable splicers knife. It is one I'm working on as my first knife attempt, but seeing as you have flat stock would be perfect to weld a handle on too.

  • @ambsquared
    @ambsquared 6 лет назад

    One thing you could do on your next one is make the lanyard hole a hex wrench. If it is 1/4", could use it as a bit driver. Also the bottle opener could be another sized hex wrench.

  • @MrKaffeGrums

    Looks beautiful. The only real problem I have with it, is actually the lanyard - a tool with that amount of polishing, deserves a more symmetrical knot on the lanyard. Other than that, it looks great. You could easily sell those.

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  7 лет назад +3

      Tom's Dreamshop Worx no, I didn't heat treat this. I figured since it never really has to "perform" and it's quality steel, it'll probably do what it's intended to do without concern for years to come.
      (That and the fact that I'm lazy:)

    Can you try to make something out of titanium? Sheets of it are expensive, but if you search "titanium stock" or "titanium scrap" into eBay and go through a few pages, you can find nice chunks that aren't that expensive ($10-$30 range).

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  7 лет назад

      +- A13X - I never knew you could search titanium scraps on eBay. That's an awesome tip! Especially the part where you have to sift through a couple of pages. I'm gonna check into it for sure. Thanks a lot for the tip!

    • @-a13x-75
      @-a13x-75 7 лет назад

      Simple Little Life They have a lot to choose from and the price is right. There's this one seller that takes pictures of the titanium against a red background. His stuff is usually the most reasonably priced. My only problem is that I don't have a proper metal band saw so I can't do much with the bigger pieces.
