Hello, Sci 11 brought me here. Laban lang, shout out sa classmates ko jan. Importante nakaon da ang isda kag kaguwa siya sa traffic and fresh from the shower. Fighting!!!
+Steve Byers Did you know Antioch University in Seattle once had a master's program in Whole Systems Design? My adviser was Rodney Donaldson, protegee and archivist of all of Gregory Bateson's work. I felt fortunate to get that degree but I also felt way ahead of the curve having graduated in WSD 24 years ago!!! So glad to see Systems is getting out into the mainstream.
this is a great lesson .. but 90% of the world's population does not live with such privileges and leisure to do things. Close to 80% dont even have a garden to pick fresh vegetables from. I love it how the west creates these models of perfection, or shall we say near perfection. Systems!
Very very nice video, thank you for presenting complex ideas in a simple way; Could I translate it to Spanish to add subtitles? Not sure about the whole lisence things, thank u!
Do you mean natural systems like hydrological cycles? A farmer may have a goal of getting the right amount of water at the right time to crops, and that farmer is in a small way part of the hydrological cycle (whether they divert water sources, or develop soil with better water retention, or do nothing (their choice to do nothing makes them an active part of the system)), but other people have conflicting goals, and the system as a whole has no goal, whether or not we include the humans' goals. Is that what you mean?
Just saw these questions--gosh, there are infinite examples! Like two balls on strings knocking against each other. Or gas particles swirling on Jupiter. The first probably has a cyclic attractor, the latter a chaotic attractor.
@@marksman314 You are wildly wrong too, smartass. If they are repeating cycles, their goal is to maintain equilibrium. Not a human definition of a goal, but still a valid goal.
its probs more for the appreciation on things and recognizing the kind of impact u may have as an individual who is part of these systems,,, but uwu i digress

Wildly incorrect definition of a system: a system doesn't have to have a purpose or intent. Many systems just exist without any "goal."
Can you give us an example of a system without a purpose? Thanks.
