i've learned that it's often doing other things outside of photography which then inspire me for a photo. thanks george, the videos this year have been such a joy to watch!
Hey man, all your music video content this year has inspired me to make my own stuff with local artists. It makes a difference. Your videos this year have been incredible. Fantastic direction for the channel.
You know, I’m in my 30s and I only picked up a camera in January and as we move into a new year I need to realise I shouldn’t be so hard on myself. Ive completely changed my life path and I’m at college studying photography, put together a website (thanks for the squarespace discount) and I’ve had some good feedback from model test shoots/couple of commercial shoots. Moving forward this year I need to take medium format film off the pedestal and invest in good optics for my dslr and become a more well rounded photographer. I appreciate your honesty when it comes to being burnt out, we can’t be on all the time.
Hey George. This year I managed to make my first pay-what-you-can mini photozine with all the money going to Cancer Research UK. It raised way more than I expected and I really hope to make more zines or different formats to help support other charities aswell, I've been thinking a lot about trying to support charities to help the homeless as Im very aware of this issue living in London. Thank you for your videos which are a constant source of inspiration, really enjoy the video styles you've been experimenting with this year and I hope 2022 will bring loads of awesome oppertunities your way! Take it easy, Rich
The one thing that I learnt over the year is that, as much as I really love photography and aspects around creating images, it's definitely the people that I meat along that way that always motivate me to continue doing. If it was without those people, I'm not sure photography would be my choice of expression, which is probably why I took up another hobby during lockdown and still continue to peruse that hobby even now as it's always good to step back to recoup.
I have absolutely love the talking head scenes you’ve created in your videos. It’s immersive into the scene you intentionally frame. The angles, the distance, the moodiness, the where’s Waldo blending into the scene is really refreshing compared to most RUclips videos with “talking head” shots. Love the execution to a thoughtful shot.
I likewise have found portraits to have become my main interest in photography. It started with the first lockdown, I was mainly doing street photography in Dublin beforehand. Then with lockdown, I was living outside the city so I began to wander around and take portraits just to try something different and to engage with people. Now, portraits have become, I think my strongest images and my favourite to make.
This year I went through a major creative crash in my photography, completely losing enjoyment. Come summer, I graduated from uni with my BA in professional photography and moved home for a sabbatical from "the grind". During this time, I reignited my passion for photography by taking a different approach to portraiture, one that was much more enjoyment focused. Next year, I will be moving to Glasgow and getting things going on a serious level and making it the best year of my life so far!
I generally sit down at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Sometime before Halloween reviewing the shifts in perspective, the shifts in desires, and the constants that are worth doubling down on. Before Thanksgiving I’m already into the new ‘flow’ and discarding the excess. It’s allowed me to circumvent crash and burn roller coaster 🎢 cycle most people find themselves locked into. Love your insights and work.
I never set goals on a set date. If i want to do something, I’ll start right away. It didn’t matter what day. Setting a new year’s resolution is a failure bound to happen.
This year I finished studying a master (which was such an awful thing to do in a pandemic) and then I realized I didn't need to dedicate my whole existence to just one thing, I'm kind of taking a break from what I studied because I also realized I enjoy photography more and maybe I could go further away with it
Hope you have a great new year. This year I DPed a bunch of projects and commercial work also did a ton of editing since covid still exists but overall had a busy year. Love your content and I kinda wanna get into creative directing as well if you have any tips on that i'd love to hear them. Anyway love the videos been watching for years. Keep it up and if you are ever in the USA you are welcome to have a place to crash man. Happy New Year.
I have also been finding myself enjoying group effort projects more. I used to like being a "one man band". But when a project is executed with other creatives you respect, the outcome is way more fulfilling IMO
Happy New Year 👍 2021 gave Very little obvious progress But assembling the skills and tools ready to make a move in the right direction was important. Clearly you have been making steps forwards👍
I kinda feel like I should have done a bit more photography this year but otherwise the year was a success for me and over the whole year I enjoyed watching your videos
i also prefered the darker one. Was planning to go out around London tomorrow and take the last street photos, sunrise/set of the year but I've just tested positive so that's a no lol... looking forward to trying new things with my photography, cant wait to see what you get up to in the new year! have a good nye
New Years resolutions are often misguided. They always put the resolution into numbers- “I will smoke 0 cigarettes, I will work out 3 times a week, I will lose 25 lbs, etc.” Instead of tracking goals using numbers- look at the goal itself and decide what habits you can create to get closer to the goal. Once that habit is created, start to develop another habit that accentuates or enhances the first habit. Tracking numbers will just leave you chasing the goal, making habits will create lasting change.
definitely the middle one of the three photos, I feel like the fog and the woods add a lot too the mood already, and a lot of the time I even try to push a mood but I kind of overdo it? because I'm really trying to push it and every step of the way I get a bit more acclimatized and used to the image and stop feeling what I wanted to feel, so I push it even further? I dunno tho that's just me. like the message about balance for sure, really feeling that, in a big libra mood kind of way. big q: do you feel like you shoot less film bc the rz is heavy af and you've gotten better with playing with those raws?
George will you please do another run of the dog shirts? I loved mine so much and then I lost it at a gig. still think of it all the time and got very jealous when I saw yours in this video.
I finally started my RUclips channel for film photography. I only have one video out right now, but its from my first trip to London shooting 35mm. i actually gave you a shoutout at the end, if you wanna check it out :) keep doing you George, hope you have a great year!
I’ve learnt that I don’t need photography to be my full time job in order to be happy or even have a creative job as my career. I have also learnt to except my style of photography and not push into looks that’s are popular just to get noticed or likes on Instagram.
My New Years resolution is to go into the woods for a day and build cool stick house
i've learned that it's often doing other things outside of photography which then inspire me for a photo. thanks george, the videos this year have been such a joy to watch!
It’s giving … Where The Wild Things Are

Awesome! Keep it up
I don't like new years resolutions too, it means it's that time of the year when Kodak increases their film prices
Lol
😂

Made with love
You're not the only one who's burnt out, thats whats happened to me with photography.
This year I focused less on seeking paid work and took more picture that I really wanted to take and that inspires me

Thank you George for being honest and vulnerable with your work, even if you felt burnt out. Have a great New Year everyone!

diversification is key.
Leveled up to that NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND POV
You've matured, I'm at similar moment in my photography life.
Lovely reflection, one thing I did this year was start a youtube channel!
I am pretty sure you will do some cool stuff too. That's all you need for a new years resolution. Do some cool stuff!
what was that strobe! looks like exactly what i’m looking for!
What I've done all year is tell myself I'm not jealous of your beanie. Turns out I've been lying to myself

You look sober. Keep it up!
Hey Negative Feedback, I was wondering if you would share what kind of flash were you using?
George will you please do another run of the dog shirts? I loved mine so much and then I lost it at a gig. still think of it all the time and got very jealous when I saw yours in this video.
or honestly another of your 6x7 photos, but at the same scale and on the same silhouette and fabric. it was a great design
me neither. thinking in years isn't productive at all. i try to think day by day now.
I like that
