Lol I started this video thinking "well, I know how to do this one" and then mine's literally the most basic basic version that a bunch of layers and groove get put on top. Great video, always learn a lot
I noticed the exact same in new music , D.O.D , gorgon city, Mau P, etc. All using the rolling bassline. I enjoyed your tips on how to improve it, will defo use that in my next track 🙂
Im so glad I found your channel. I have a lot of teachers here on youtube but your mixes and sounds are the fattest and absolutely beautiful. Super inspiring. Looking forward to taking your class.
There are teachers and more teachers and then there s BIG Z...how can one cram sooooo much information in a 7 min video..Pure Geniuss... Love from India ❣
Funny enough I was watching another YT'er yesterday who was talking about the same things (and other stuff). This was a really nice refresher and actually helped bring some clues together about where to take it from there.
This was beyond helpful man. Can you please make more videos breaking down different kinds of basses or patterns in EDM? Or just the genres in general. A lot of times I find myself unsure what layers to build or instruments to use
Gr8 video as always! Hoped to see more on how you get the bass to be nicely sidechained, and any other sounds that go along with it to get the flow of the rhythm
i love Rolling Basslines but actually mixing them with kick is a Big challenge , but after years of experience i figure out an oscilloscope will help you ALOT , so i strongly suggest it .
Awesome! Release it! Can you show how you mix in the kick so it punches through and dont Clash with the bass?? I have a hard time mixing kick and bass…
Just the same as any other bass. You can effectively duck 100% of full kick with the likes of kick-start or shaperbox because you have 3 other hits per beat to hear.
i suggest you to use an oscilloscope like occularScope which is free to monitor your kick and bass and phase relationship between them , then use 3 layers as mentioned in the tutorial , for sub bass you can sidechain it harder but for mid and high bass you can take it easy so you don't loose punch .
How did you process the main bass in terms of side-chain compression and other fx to make it fit in the volume range described at 2:57? Does one of your courses go through this? Thanks for great content!
In our language (Pt-brazil) we can this as "somzeira" it means, something like what a big sound bro! its like a expression! ahahaha your vídeos is amazing, thanks for share!
So rolling bass came back from trance music of the 90-2000s and from progressive Swedish house of 2010-2013.. nothing to do the old styles never die 🎉🎉
Guys. A rookie question. How do you split the notes into 16th notes (hope i’m right) How do you basically create din pattern of notes with a shortcut? Thanks upfront. The video is amazing, thanks Big Z
In Logic if you have the long bass notes of the chords and want to split them into 16ths you can select the Scissors tool, and Option Click on a 16th from the first note, it will split the entire note into 16ths :)
Should I release this track??
Definitely
Go ahead mate,, let's do that!
For sure, this is fire!💯🔥
yes go ahead!
YESSS

Funny enough I was watching another YT'er yesterday who was talking about the same things (and other stuff). This was a really nice refresher and actually helped bring some clues together about where to take it from there.
I’m just gonna roll with this vid and have a go at it
This was beyond helpful man. Can you please make more videos breaking down different kinds of basses or patterns in EDM? Or just the genres in general. A lot of times I find myself unsure what layers to build or instruments to use

okayy im so glad I found this video. currently struggling to make a great dance beat, thank you!!!!

Just the same as any other bass. You can effectively duck 100% of full kick with the likes of kick-start or shaperbox because you have 3 other hits per beat to hear.
Yeah for a rolling bassline I would do very heavy sidechaining so the bass is 100% getting out of the way of the kick
i suggest you to use an oscilloscope like occularScope which is free to monitor your kick and bass and phase relationship between them , then use 3 layers as mentioned in the tutorial , for sub bass you can sidechain it harder but for mid and high bass you can take it easy so you don't loose punch .
Great video, I would love U to explain your use of shaperbox on this one it is a plugin hard to master!
Nice! Can you give a short tutorial how to sidechain the bass from 0:52 second. Sounds very good. Greez from Austria
Retrowave/Outrun is a great genre if you like rolling basslines and driving fast at night.
So fire! Did you automate the white noise to open up towards the end of the bass line or is that something else?
Wowsome... Great stuff man❤❤🔥🔥 more power to you
I learned mad stuff just checking this video thanks !!!
these tracks are so fire
This rolling bass trend makes it sound like progressive house but with different sounds lol. Miss those times
