So happy you planted the Julia Child tree roses-one of my favorite rose varieties and one I like to gift others. I’d like to find a glorious tall tree rose too! You may know that Julia Child herself selected the rose developed by her longtime friend and rose grower who asked Julia to choose among several unnamed varieties. Julia liked that the yellow rose “looked butter and smelled like anise” so reminded her of cooking!❤
Your property continues to evolve in grand beauty. The brick patio, the Hartley, the rose garden, the orchard with the cut flower shed, all magnificent!
Girl-❤😂l-l-l, you’re just a work horse. You make up your mind as to how you want your place to look and you just go for it. Everything is looking so beautiful and I can’t wait to see it all grown in. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You’re going to have quite the showplace!
There is a recap video from years ago when someone asked what were her most treasured dreams for her garden.?....she said three things, and they all came true! The cut-flower garden was on that list. Wow, none of us knew what would transpire, become realized! An entire dalhia bed overwintered! A complete rose garden ordered by favorite colours! A perennial bed. A self-seeding annual bed. How wonderful when dreams come true. I feel very blessed to join in this beautiful journey. Thank you Garden Answer Family and Friends!🌷
Laura, I just want to say a huge THANK YOU! On one of your recent posts, you talked about Willow Balm. I have endured pain in both of my legs for years. I figured I didn't have much to lose, so I ordered the Balm, pain patches, and bath set. I put it on my knees and legs last night, and when I woke up this morning, I could get out of bed with no problem!🎉❤💐
Beautiful! That Wollerton Old Hall is a perfect candidate for "pegging." When it sends out those long canes in late summer, you gently arch them downwards until the tips are touching either the ground or the base of the rose. Then you'll secure the cane in place with a landscape staple or rubber coated wire. New side shoots will pop out all along the arch you created, and each one will have a flower! This greatly increases the yield and creates what looks like a massive shrub rose.
Oh Laura, you’re Tulips are glorious! 🌷 You have transformed your property into a wonderland. I can’t wait to see your Roses fully matured. It is going to be a beautiful sight! There is no doubt about it. You are a master gardener. I have learned so much from you. Thank you! 🪴🌷🌹
We have watched Garden Answer (with coffee) for a few years and are so impress with what Y’all have accomplished. So looking to the garden tours this summer and fall. Going to be beautiful. Congratulation on your success.
I appreciate seeing you plant with a shovel occasionally. I pick up so many little tips watching the videos, and good shovel technique is no different. I’m sure it just seems common/basic knowledge to some, but not all of us grew up learning these things. Thanks for the variety of techniques in your videos!
I love hearing the birds and wind and the shovel digging into the dirt. Such a beautiful sound. It’s like a pleasant surprise when you switch it up with music. Good job edit person.
Laura, you can’t believe it? Well, your followers are in the same boat! The changes you have wrought on your property are spectacular. Everything you have done speaks to quality, taste and beauty. It is so inspirational to the rest of us, even in making small changes on our own property. Chose beautiful products that fit, and hold out for what you love. It’s just wonderful for us to come along for the ride.
Having been on this journey with GA for many years now it is SUCH a lovely feeling to watch as things settle down with projects being buttoned up and planting evolving.
This video was like watching a movie today. I could sit and listen to you plant rose trees all day. It was so great listening to the shovel break the soil, the sprinkling of the bag of the biotone starter fertilizer, kids playing in the background, birds chirping.... pure perfection! Everything is just coming together. I bet it's more fun facing a year of building patios then it is digging Up structures and trenching...😂. Just lovely.💗
After watching you for many years, I still can't get over how you can work with roses and raspberries bare-handed! I ALWAYS wear gloves when gardening and still get picked and poked EVERY TIME! Kudos to you!
The brick patio is looking great. The tulips, ranunculas and the muscari/grape hyacinth in the orchard are beautiful. Such a great tour, Laura. You work so hard and the fruits of your labor are spectacular! Thank you
Thank you for letting us see the fruits (flowers 🌷) of your labors! We see so much of the time you spend planting, it’s nice to revel in the finished product. Lovely! 💕
Benny and his crew do such an amazing job! The work looks fantastic!! Laura your visions of what you and Aaron want for your property is spot on! You do such great work.
Good morning Laura. Another great video of just plain old planting made interesting and informative with your unique welcoming style. Give yourself a pat on the back girl, you start all our days so brightly!
Oh my goodness the hartley area is really shaping up to be outstanding! I can't get over all the stuff you guys are doing. I would be so overwhelmed at this point lol.
It’s such a privilege to come along on Laura’s garden journey. It’s amazing how she went from a country garden to this more formal approach. Both are so beautiful.
My mother loved tree roses. One year, my father surprised her with enough tree roses to line the sidewalk from the street to the house. Our sidewalk was super wide. When in bloom, we would have many drive-by viewers to check out the roses. It seems that tree roses are now becoming quite popular.
I would like to ask about the demands of pruning? Two or four tree roses might take a bit of time. More roses will take more time. If you can offer me any information, I am grateful. Merci!
Brick patio is going to be gorgeous. Did I see a new fountain sitting beside chicken coupe? Seeing you dig the holes for your roses makes me so happy to have my DeWalt drill and Power Planter auger. Use to have to wait on my husband to dig my holes but now I (79 year old grandma) dig when I get ready to. I only have the 3 inch auger, looking to purchase the 5 or 7. You are such an influence! Love your videos!
Your Hartley looks outstanding, beautiful. When you showed the 4 corners with the tulips all in bloom, it took my breath away, a slice of heaven. I'm sure you are so proud, way to go!
I love that Laura's passion changes from year to year. Dahlias or roses, we get a chance to follow her lead and emulate these in our areas also. You are a very good gardening teacher.
11:32 - Laura, be careful with that David Austin Wollerton Old Hall Rose! It’s definitely a climber and will grow far larger than 8x3. I have 2 in my garden (in the UK) and it easily reaches 12ft in a season! Also it’s named after a beautiful rose garden in the UK that you should check out!
I love hearing the excitement in your voice when you were talking about all your flowers that have bloomed and about all the flowers that you are/have planted. Watching you in your rose garden, me cry .My aunt used to have a rose garden, and one of the roses you planted in your garden is her name,Imogen. When we would visit her, you could smell her beautiful roses in the air. I can't wait to see all the bricks in place and see what you put in the center! I think the tree roses look beautiful where you planted them. I am also excited about the hayracks that Aaron wants to put back out!! I am just excited about all the plans you have going on this year!! God has truly blessed you and us with your special talent. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Your garden center always has an excellent variety of David Austin roses, it’s totally worth the thirty minute drive out of the way. It’s fast becoming my favorite garden center.
I'm off work today, so I go to watch this in the morning. It was fun to be able to watch right when I got the notification. I want to try gold raspberries now!
The addition of the rose trees made such a huge impact, how gorgeous! ❤ Laura is a machine, and I am so impressed by her work ethic and endurance. Bravo
I don't think I would ever be indoors. Your gardens are so fun and beautiful. Daily changes to each area would be so much fun to watch. Thanks Laura for sharing your gardens.
The garden is really coming along! Can't wait for the veggies to come in. Would love to see an updated tour of your mom & dad's garden too. It's so lovely and inspirational to see the various levels.
Yay, so excited that we get to see the efforts of your planting all of those tulip bulbs. Just stunning. 🥰❤️ I just read the comment below mine. That’s exactly what I was going to say. The birds with the doves singing is so much better than any music.
Stunning!! My favorite part was hearing the kids voices in the background. Laura & Aaron you have built an amazing life. I feel like I am walking down your lane ready to help 🌸
I loved learning about the roses! My mom asked me to plant a rose in a very shady part of her very already shaded yard. It died, but I think you’ve helped me enough to try to add the grandiflora o her front yard knowing they need more sun. Thanks for all you do!
Laura, as much as you love terra cotta pots, I am surprised you haven't utilized some of the bigger bottomless terra cotta pots. The rose trees would be perfect for using some gorgeous bottomless pots. Still gives the beauty of the pot, but allows the roots all the room they need below to grow and thrive.
The rose trees are just perfect for the Hartley area. The view from the brick patio to the Hartley looks like a fairy tale. I’ve never had good luck with roses but I think I will try a couple again. Thanks for the inspiration! BTW, your background music is wonderful, just right for what you are doing.
The Julia Child roses are beautiful and fragrant, like butter😊. The mourning doves sounded lovely and l do miss that quiet alone time in the garden with the birds singing and hands working to make a beautiful space.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous new rose garden. This will be spectacular. I think you're going to be thoroughly surprised when they are in bloom Laura. There's something so magical about seeing roses planted en masse like that. You are definitely creating something that's romancing the ordinary. From a beautiful Cape Town South Africa. BTW. The high desert seems amazing to me. Don't ever move.
I wish those of us in Denver, CO could grow our roses again…the Japanese beetles arrived a few years ago & they decimate any rose they see! I guess I’ll have to live vicariously through Laura’s rose garden until we can get a handle on those ‘buggers’!
When we bought our last house I inherited about 30 rose plants. I told my husband I could always change him out and that I didn't want that many rose plants. 22 years later when we sold our house all the rose plants were still there! I loved them cared for them and shared their bounty. When we moved back to our 1st house the only rose plant I brought with me was the one that my husband gave me on my 1st Mother's day. That rose plant had originally been planted in the house we moved back to.The only difference is that now it's in a container before it was in the ground. The 1st rose each year has been and will be in honor of my best friend sandy who passed away a couple of years ago. I don't know if I will get any more rose plants But I'll keep this one as long as I can. Dave almost bought the Chrysler rose at your parents nursery when we were there last week. Love sharing time together! 💜💙💚💛🌷😎
Your tulips are so pretty. I love all the different ones you have! I have learned so much from watching your RUclips channel. I want to thank you for being so gracious and talking with me and taking a picture with me today at your parents nursery! We really enjoyed visiting it’s such a beautiful nursery!
I don't know what it is, but watching you plant with the pleasant music warms my heart first thing in the morning. I sure hope I can find a Julia Child rose - she is one of my favorite ladies, she was an amazing woman. Fingers crossed I can find one.
How you have so much energy and work drive, it baffles me! I so wish I could work at your pace cause yesterday I thought "I'm going to garden like Laura today" and so I did... I got A LOT done... But... Boy was I EXHAUSTED by the end of the day and slept like a baby!! 🤣🤣🤣 Feeling slightly sore today too. Don't know how you are able to accomplish so much in the garden in a day!!! Everything looks absolutely beautiful, so your hard work pays off! Thank you for always being inspiring ❤️
Boxwoods , weeping evergreens, tree roses......etc..... aren’t my style in my garden but they are absolutely gorgeous as you work them into your design. You are creating a lovely bit of heaven. I enjoy seeing the evolution of your space and take a lot of inspiration from manyof your selections. ❤
Can't believe you already have 80's temps! We pretty much still have 50's daytime highs with an occasional 60's. Inland they are have some low 70's. Here on the coast in Massachusetts, we are temperate. Not too cold in the Winter, and not too hot in the Summer. Just 5-10 miles inland they get much hotter. So no complaints from this woman.❤
what a beautiful morning! love those rose trees, loving the patio, too... the changes always amaze me - so much work has been done on your gardens since 'move in' day 🥰 cannot wait to see the rose garden blooming... i bet you're out there first thing with a cuppa and energy to get out there and have some fun.... thanks for taking us along!! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Such a lot done today! Thanks for the birdsong and the rose explanations. Of course color and growth habit are important, but I’m always seeking the scent of rose like my Grandmother had. Some roses don’t even seem to have a scent at all these days! I’m wondering why that is. Has the scent just been bred out? Oh, and I’m glad you’re back to your leopard shoes. Even saw your helper sporting them as well. Thanks again for always sharing your knowledge.
Everything is looking so gorgeous! Just beautiful! You sure did get a lot done today…rose trees, raspberries, planted roses, and campanulas! I would have done just one of those, and then called it a day! You’re like an energizer bunny! Lol! And that brick patio!! There are no words, but WOW! 🙌🏻❤️🙌🏻❤️🙌🏻
I have no idea how this works or how much work it is but you should make a “virtual walk around” tour where you could click around and give yourself a tour. It would be amazing!
Thank you for explaining the difference between rose type, I could never work out the difference between them. You explain everything so we’ll clear and precise, fantastic. Love watching your garden grow and change over time. 🥰🏴🇬🇧
Julia Child roses are my absolute favorite! When in bloom you get a light creamy yellow, medium yellow and a deeper yellow all in one. Plus they make awesome rose hips. Beautiful choice!
That rose garden is going to be amazing! Someday, perhaps I’ll try roses again. But the fall gold raspberries are definitely on my to do list hopefully next year. I have to create a space first, and I really like your idea of a waist high strawberry garden! Thanks again for all your hard work, inspiration, and all you do!
Wow! The brick work looks perfect! I have been watching since your first new house tour… I can say I felt your pain when you had the whole place torn up running irrigation among other things. You kept going and I watched as you took a barren powdery dirt land that seemed to go on forever ~ and turn it into an oasis. It was worth the wait! This new brick patio next to the Heartly green house is my new favorite site line already! Simply beautiful! I love your garden adventures! Thank you for allowing us into your world. I can’t wait to see how you design this area. Especially, what will be in the middle of the brick patio/walk way!
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸 Your Garden is so inviting. So many little areas of interest. And you're just waking up. Central Florida is already 🔥 in the mid-day. My Garden time is early morning. 👩🌾💗👍 HAPPY GARDENING EVERYONE 💚
After 7 days of rain, sitting in the sun dreaming of spring flowers....so much fun to join the GA journey and share the hope of gorgeous flowers for the season.
I love all your videos! But this one especially! With the calm guitar music in the background when Laura planted was soooo soothing!! 🥰 and then Laura’s nice voice in between made me watch the video 3 times because the fact that I fell asleep the first 2 times because I was so relaxed ❤️😂😂 Thank you for that!! I needed that!
Oh I really love seeing all the beautiful plants going in the ground. The garden looks so pretty. So exciting. I love watching your videos every day. Thank you and have a blessed day
Today's update and projects were extra fantastic! The patio, tree roses, rose garden, raspberries and campanula, are all just 😍😍😍. Every year with Laura is great, but this year is just extra special! (Also, that new veggie sunflower area is 👏👏👏).
It's incredible how quickly the garden is coming alive with colour now that Spring has sprung!!! We are so privileged to be part of the process and to share in the beauty. My daily dose of happiness❤
Love the color of the new bricks over the old patio, much more refined and fits better with the Hartley. The Tulips behind the Hartley are the best color pink!
Omg! You got a Julia Child!!! I’ve been wanting to get one. My father was an avid gardener and his favorite roses were always yellow. I wanted to plant one in honor of him. I saw pictures of it online and I just knew it was the kind of rose he would love. I feel like this video might have been my sign. I’m in happy tears Laura. Thank you! You really made my day.
I have two red tree roses in the front of my house that are so heavily budded and flowered, that they have to be staked not to blow over in a big wind. They are spectacular and I can cut bouquets for friends all the time.
I have six David Austen roses. By far the one that preforms the best for me is the Olivia Austen Rose. Then Harlow Carr ( although it’s very thorny). The four years I’ve had my Lark ascending I’ve had two blooms 😢. Fun facts roses don’t have thorns they actually have prickles!!
I think my favorite aspect to view tulips is when the sun comes through the petals. They glow, it's amazing! I can look out my window by the computer at my tulip row. I have some red ones (Lalibela or Bonfire, not sure) that just glow with the sun. So crazy pretty to see.
When I literally just got into gardening as a total noob, I bought an Italian ice rose tree from J&P and I tried my best but what do ya know it died the following year. I’m a little hesitant still to try again but man are they gorgeous! I LOVE those tulips in front of the Hartley omg ❤
I love watching Laura doing her thing planting things while the birds chirping in the background. honestly it's better than any music.
hello
I couldn't have said it any better.
Agree!
Yes! I heard morning doves and redwing blackbirds among others.
Oh you are so right. Love the little sounds.
Great suggestion. My son has one, and it is very prolific. Lots of canes and roses from the first year! He is training as a climber.

The birdsong in this video is awesome! I love to see the tulips in bloom. Kudos for Laura for noticing the patio bricks were off.
The birds are music to my ears, and the garden is so pretty! I enjoyed this video so much!

I was thinking the same thing! A little something for everyone. 🎶 🕊️
The fact that Ken left "rose treeses" in even though you did another take just made my day! 😂

🥀 I can only imagine the gorgeous arrangements we will see made from all those roses.. ❤
what a beautiful morning! love those rose trees, loving the patio, too... the changes always amaze me - so much work has been done on your gardens since 'move in' day 🥰 cannot wait to see the rose garden blooming... i bet you're out there first thing with a cuppa and energy to get out there and have some fun.... thanks for taking us along!! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
I agree with the birds !!!! I noticed them right away!! We have them for our background music and the wind chimes!!! So peaceful!!!
I can’t wait til you start having events at your gardens. People watching will be great.
It would be amazing!
hello
They started last week. She took us everywhere
Such a wonderful video to watch and listen too. Someone always picks the right music to go with the natural sounds around you! Amazing as always💗💗💗
Laura, you can really see your dreams coming to fruition!!!
Goosebumps!!! 🌼🌼🌼
The birds and the wind is so much more beautiful than music
So much beauty in one video. What a wonderful way to start the day! 😍
Thank you for explaining the difference between rose type, I could never work out the difference between them. You explain everything so we’ll clear and precise, fantastic. Love watching your garden grow and change over time. 🥰🏴🇬🇧
Wow, that Matchless Mother, omg how beautiful.
Hi Laura. I love that you did not edit out when you said "treeses" you made me laugh by your reaction 😆 🤣 😊 Everything looks so beautiful.
7+ pm here in Malaysia. Hello everyone!
Good morning in our Garden.
Thanks Laura for sharing.
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸
Your Garden is so inviting. So many little areas of interest. And you're just waking up. Central Florida is already 🔥 in the mid-day. My Garden time is early morning. 👩🌾💗👍
HAPPY GARDENING EVERYONE 💚
After 7 days of rain, sitting in the sun dreaming of spring flowers....so much fun to join the GA journey and share the hope of gorgeous flowers for the season.
Such an incredible life! Ive learned so much from u!
Can I just say that I love the structure and winter interest in the South Garden? I absolutely aspire to that level of gorgeousness.
Thank you and have a blessed day
Good morning you all 🌞 Have a wonderful weekend ❤🤗
Septer'd Isle is really beautiful. I guess it will be also good for flower arrangements.
The orchard is fast becoming my favorite spot in your beautiful garden! 💚💚💚💚💚
Explaining the different types of roses was so helpful. I can’t wait to see what that rose garden looks like in five years 😍
Today's update and projects were extra fantastic!
Thank you for all the information and listening to the beautiful music while you plant is so calming.
Love all the tulips. Your berry bed is all filled up. Beautiful rose trees.
No me aguanto por verlas grandes y floridas, serán un espectáculo de rosas 😲😍🤩🥰
You are my ray of sunshine every morning. I look forward to watching what you have planned for the day. You are my inspiration. ❤️🌿🌱🌳🪴
You are so generous and giving. I loved the music while you were planting the roses. Great video and informative. Thanks.
