WALKING TOUR OF THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF MONTERIGGIONI (4K) - WITH SUBTITLES - MAY 2024

We visited the small castle of Monteriggioni, founded in 1213 by the Republic of Siena to defend themselves from their enemies, the Florentines. The castle was never defeated militarily and still today retains the appearance it had 800 years ago. Some of its 15 towers that surrounded the walls have been demolished or lowered but today it still retains all its medieval charm
The castle is crossed by the Via Francigena, a thousand-year-old pilgrims' route from Canterbury to Rome and pilgrims are still hosted within the castle walls today
