Star Wars Outlaws had a rough launch earlier this year - we check out Ubisofts big update to the game to help you decide if Star Wars Outlaws is worth a second look. Give us your measured and completely reasonable takes to this video in the comments below - we want to know if you've started Star Wars Skelton Crew yet? I was really surprised by it and have nothing but good things to say about it so I'd love a natter about that if you fancy.
I think this game definitely has the Cyberpunk issue, but in different ways. Cyberpunk was primarily attacked for it's instability initially and that the choices were played up a lot more than the impact they have (debatable imo though). In the end, I agree it is a fantastic game. As for this one, I'm interested to dive in but may wait a little more as waiting for Cyberpunk payed off for me (smooth experience and very deep customization was welcomed). However, this game seems to lack a lot of the customization and since we can't even create a character, I think that is one huge mistake that will always hold this game back from being what it could've been. As much as I love Jedi Survivor, it's my main issue with it as well-I understand Disney wants there to be protagonists so they can milk the characters and build them into lore and other things later on possibly if well received, but it's holding back so much of what a lot of people want from an open world star wars game. At least Survivor gave us permanent weapon variety-I'm still confused on how weapons work in this game. Do you get to keep them or not? Carrying a gun up a ladder is good I guess but is it still useless once ammo is gone? You can't find more ammo for it or anything? Just a bit sad honestly if that is the case still. BUT, I hard agree that in the past 5 years or so I have noticed a larger than necessary hate towards games, esp if Ubisoft makes them. I do get people are frustrated with the AAA mindset of push game out, fix later mentality and believe that is where the low tolerance is increasingly more common, justifiable in some cases but still often blown out of proportion. It's almost like if a game isn't a 9.5/10 out of the box, it's trash-and heck people even called wildly successful (GOTY even) games like Elden Ring trash because it was just not what they wanted from the developer (but those people are delusional clearly). At the end of the day, I've enjoyed the past AC games, Survivor, Starfield, Cyberpunk (before the DLC), Stalker 2, and many other games elitists have at one point or currently still consider "subpar". Probably a case of the angriest being the loudest as with most anything, so I appreciate your honest opinion from someone clearly level headed and a true gamer like many of us who just want to enjoy a game and be sucked into a created world-monologue over haha.
Finally positive feedback. I got this for Christmas by my wife. At first the game was alright, but as I invested in the game I became extremely attached to the game. I have nothing but great things to say about this game. Sure it can be buggy, but the exploration, attention to detail, environments, gameplay loop(gameplay skills instead of skill tree) are all incredibly good. This game did not deserve all the crap it got
I bought this for a reduced price at £37 and i am really enjoying it!!! I am doing all missions contracts etc. my advice is to not compare it with the jedi games and take it for playings as a clever but non powered space hustler and it will be fun.
I got it for $30. I’m glad I waited for the update and sale because it’s definitely not a $70 game. I am enjoying it though and it’s much better than people have tried to make it out to be. I think if you skip certain gameplay aspects it’s more enjoyable. For example, I have disabled lock picking and hacking mini games because they just seem to take me out of the actual game itself. I also don’t try to go completely stealth fully and have more fun shooting people. Hearing the game had forced stealth. Missions was my immediate turn off but it’s been fixed.
I like the main character Kay very much. Compared to other female heroes lately (like Rey) she is not a Mary Sue but must work her way up from nothing and in a believable way. It makes her character much more believable and likable. Erverything she achieves she worked for.
Like 99% it does have problems and issues but honestly I love being in the Star Wars universe. I think people today just love to hate and for things to fail if it isn’t 100% of what they wanted.
they pulled a no mans sky but way sooner and way better. gg ubisoft. although i dont trust you, I'll give where credit is due. please keep goin in this direction

People are stupid, they complain Assasin Creed is not stealth anymore, but when Ubisoft make a stealth Stars War, they complain again. Geez, I am glad I didn't choose game development, corporate clients are picky but never like gamers.
This game is hardly stealth. The classic Assassin’s creed games had mechanics like crowd blending and dedicated hiding spots. It also utilized parkour so the player has multiple routes. None of this is seen in Star Wars outlaws.
Yeah then there’s probably a bunch of people trying to play the game in a way it wasn’t meant to be played, they do bad, and then hate it because of it.
Unfortunately, on hardware from a lower price segment and from a different GPU producers, this game is very badly optimized. the first location even positively surprised me, and later is worse, FSR 3.0 instead of 3.1 is probably not the best solution either. DLSS Enabler mod changing dlss to fosr 3.1 performs better. I am not against SSR. There are titles in which it looks good. Here the reflections without ray recon are ugly. Almost as ugly as anti-aliasing. In my opinion, which I think can be supported by objective arguments, this game from the technical side is at this moment (02.01.2025) unacceptable. A bit like experimenting with new technology rather than preparing the game as best as possible for as many players as possible. With all due respect to developers, I believe that from testing new technology, there are technology demos, not games we pay for. Pure rasterization in many new titles, still gives great results and can be enjoyed on lower hardware specifications.
Got the game while it was on sale after the bad reviews, about 14 hours in and just decided to finally leave Toshara. The game is very good, the updates from what I’ve seen on YT, have completely changed the gameplay feel. Not a Jedi, but a short haired, female Han Solo basically. Would recommend.
AHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAH, OKEY. Yeap. A chance. Thay have a chance to make game with: - less pay walls, - less bugs, - less "alphabet people" culture (sorry don't know how to call them/they/xin/xon to that just won't offend them prematurely) - JUST DO the good games like it was before But for now we have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, kingdom come deliverance 2, Elden Ring, Marvel Rivals and ect. Why do Ubi need a chance? Maybe Ubi just need to make a normal game?
I just recently managed to get it in sale for about $30. To be honest I I’d ended to wait longer but I had an itch to play something new and saw that most of the worst of this games issues have been patched. (Most). As a regular guy who’s been disappointed by about 80% of Star Wars content the last few years, but still loves Star Wars itself, I can say that I’m mostly enjoying the game so far. It’s got some issues. -There’s still a little bit of jank in the gameplay, but not near as bad as what I saw of it at launch. -It’s very apparent that this is Disney Star Wars. I’ve got no problem with female characters when they’re done properly, but Dear Lord, you can tell this was made to fill a quota. At least I’ve unlocked five of the “experts” so far, and four of them are women. It’s to the point where I just have to roll my eyes and say, “Of course the tough-as-nails mercenary is some lady in her 50s...” “Oh, of course the fastest gunslinger in the west is some old lady dying from emphysema…” You can have interesting women in your story when done naturally and in a way that makes sense. I’ve always thought Qi’ra was neat as a character. The Ashiga being a queendom is just fine. But a lot of these others feel forced. -Some of the writing is terribly weak. There are some quest lines that are totally fine (in fact, most of the main quests have been pretty engaging and well done) but then there are times when you start a quest where you go up to someone and say, “I need you to help me,” and they reply with “sorry, I won’t help you… okay I’ll help you.” It’s like they wanted some tension or some depth there, but they just didn’t know how to do it, so they made it up. But overall, I can say that for what this is, I’ve enjoyed my time with it and am looking forward to finishing it. I feel like a lot of the criticism was probably warranted early on, but for what it is now, it’s not the horrible game people make it out to be.
This came across as, 'ignore all faults and flaws because it's Star Wars, just be happy because it's Star Wars.' Unfortunately, Star Wars no longer has that magic where simply existing is enough. There are too many games now where settling is no longer necessary. Besides, even in your footage, nothing about this was appealing, not visually, and not gameplay. It all just looks and feels so bland. But that's just me, i hope you have fun.
Speak for yourself. The gunplay feels so satisfying, and while it is disappointing it focuses on the pistol it feels more Star Wars like than any other game I’ve played. Traveling by speeder and starship is also extremely satisfying, and I can loose myself immersed in the universe. It’s not a perfect game, and is by far the best Star Wars game, but damn it’s fun!
@jasonkeane133 indeed. But it is also true that the game over promised, under delivered, is like every other 'cough, open world cough' Ubisoft Game since Far Cry 3, has massively regressed in terms of enemy A.I, is a buggy mess, has the universally hated mechanic of fake DLC that is already coded into the game, had functionally identical versions for eye watering amounts of money, deliberately made a hot actress butt ugly to tick the DEI boxes, further buried the Star Wars IP, has kindergarten level 'stealth' and last but my no means least had the gall to call itself a Quadruple A game. Voting with our wallets is the only way to fight this tidal wave of crap that masquerades as 'fun' nowadays, and giving Ubisoft one cent more is just asking to be bent over with the next 'masterpiece' they decide to foist on us.
