Sir using Auto level can we find the linear distance from staff to station point??

No we can't...it will just give a line of collimation, from that w can take only elevation of a point. Only from theodolite we can find distance by calculations.

If you take Top hair reading along with central hair reading, its possible. Distance = 2x(Top hair-central hair reading) x100 will give you the horizontal distance in metres.

For smaller projects we have to assume a point as BM and we have to designate a Reduced level as 10.00m or 100.00 m from mean sea level. While doing Surveying we have to use that BM as reference for vertical readings.

That point should be safe and that don't be demolished during construction process. We can use main gate pedestal or a permanent wall that exists throughout the project
