I use a mix of potting soil and perlite for all my plants. Drains well and makes it nice and airy. I also water the plants from below; so I put them in a saucer with water and let them soak it up a little. All my Alocasia's look great so I think this work great. During the summer o think you could give them a soak once and a while
that is so wild all those roots were of no use! i i have a small one in my care that’s doing amazing! so i figured why not get a huge one .. found a huge one but it’s so drooopy. i usually wait about a 3-4 weeks before repotting but after a water, it looks so sad and it has so much new growth. thank you!
I always get my plants out of that Nursery Mix. I have had more plants rot in that mix than I care to talk about it.The mix is that way so they dont have to water as much. Plus with having a pot inside a pot you always risk rot. I hope your Freydek is well🌼🌼🌼
Thank you so much. I have exactly the same problem with my frydek at the moment. I suspected root rot and now it is confirmed! I will repot it in the morning. TY
1:10 - this might have fooled me.. I like the way these roots look..... But then you start pulling them apart...and I see no roots around the bulb....there is a problem... Love the video!
This happened to me recently. All my frydek’s leaves droop and start to turn yellow. Had to remove all 5 leaves except one because I saw there’s a new sprout. Fortunately my frydek is starting to bounce back and she’s growing out new leaf :)
So sad :I , next time just stick with your usual water/ soil method. I always repot the shop soil, because its too wet. Replace it indeed with good drainage. One time i even found maggots in soil with herbs i bought at grocery 0_0.
I bought an alocasia lauterbachiana a few days ago, one of the leaves (just the leave not the whole stem) was kinda drooping and I just assumed that the leave was damaged on its way to the store. But now a second leave is drooping too. Any tips and or ideas what could be wrong with it?
OK SO I HAVE A VARIETY OF ELEPHANT EAR THAT IS THE TYPICAL REGULAR BRAND. HOWEVER, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY BUT HAS SO MANY STEMS THAT IT ALWAYS LOOKS RUBBERY. IT DROOPS! HOW CAN I CORRECT THIS? THE ROOTS APPEAR TO BE HEALTHY BUT UNLESS I TIE EVERY SINGLE STEM UP, THEY ARE SO LONG THAT THEY WEIGHT THE LEAVES DOWN. HELP!
The pot I had my alocasia metalhead in wasn’t draining so my plant was sitting in water for like 12 hours before I noticed😔 I’ reported it immediately and am hoping the leaves will perk up
i can't imagine these plants shipping well. I would pot it up and give it some time to recover. I wouldn't worry too much about the droopy leaves, they will probably go but new ones will emerge with the right care. In case you missed my alocasia care video, ruclips.net/video/Bw8EUP495BE/видео.html. good luck! =)
not intentionally, water roots like to be in water so its better to have water then not but its also important to keep fresh water so i change it every week.
I forget what i used now but if its pons, thats because pons, the size is more ideal for roots, i feel like retains enough moisture and air flow while leca can be too much air and not enough moisture.
Hi! My wandering dude has started getting shrivelled leaves. Kind of randomly, but also a number of the "tentacles" are shrivelling from the soil out.... too much water? Not enough? Needs a re-pot? If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it!
Here's a quick update on the plant. It's doing great! 💚 ruclips.net/video/a67Q3xtA50s/видео.html 💚

Thank you for posting the update! I wish more "planty" content creators did the same. I'm in the middle of an Alocasia Stingray rescue. Wish me luck!
This video was soo good. My frydek is currently pretty droopy too, but I have it in the proper soil medium. Thanks for sharing!

Love the video!
Exactly the video I was looking for! Time to revive my Frydek! 😍 Thank you
same
You might have just saved my new frydek. I heeded your cautionary tale and went and repotted it immediately.
😊
Please adjust your mic volume. The audio is terrible!
Love your personality! New subbie!

alocasias are really resilient in that way. my frydek is slowing coming back as well!
Please keep us updated! :>
I just had the same thing with my alocasia stingray. Initially one of the leaves turned yellow. Next day all leaves became droopy.
So I recently got an alocasia frydek and it's been in sphagnum moss and has gorgeous roots but the leaves are drooping. Haaalp

They were probably fungus gnat larvae
4:59 Bad idea give fertilizer directly in contact with roots that are not ready, can burn the roots
that would be true but the Freydek as well as my RT propagations haven't suffered from burns?

Nice share, My Friend. Very nice share.😊😊🇨🇦
Any updates how your frydek looks like now?! Would love to see it☺️
Hi Maricel, thanks for watching! It's doing really well! I made a short about its progress a few weeks ago: ruclips.net/video/a67Q3xtA50s/видео.html
@@BotanicalWoman Great!! Will be watching it right now😊 Thank you so much!!
Is it okay that my frydek has no bulb in it but it has roots when i repotted it

ruclips.net/video/a67Q3xtA50s/видео.html
Wow! Good save! 👍🙂
I hope it makes it
@@BotanicalWoman Me too! I have a feeling that it will do great. 😊
@@BotanicalWoman , you are overreacting , that alocasia just need water 💧 that's why it's droopy , it happened to my alocasia once :)
HI. what happened to using PON ? Did it not work out for Alocasias?
Hi! My amazonica just arrived from shipping and it looked droopy, i guess because it was not ok when it was uprooted for shipping

Your mic volume is totally blowing out when you get excited 😆
Do you give the plant a break between refilling the water?
not intentionally, water roots like to be in water so its better to have water then not but its also important to keep fresh water so i change it every week.
I see you use leca, why didn't you try to move it to that?
I forget what i used now but if its pons, thats because pons, the size is more ideal for roots, i feel like retains enough moisture and air flow while leca can be too much air and not enough moisture.
Do these plants leaves come back or do they drop 1 they that make a new leaf?
if that happens it cause it needs more fertilizer
What type of soil do you use for your Frydek?

Please help what to do, thank u
it hurts me to see that fork in that root ball, so don't tell me plants don't feel pain, if I can feel their pain
Ure straight f*king up the roots using forks like that I hope you realize
I got one the same size for 8$ at Trader Joe’s!!!
nice love TJs
Not enough water and no light from above....that's all!
did you watch the video?
