I like sneaking onto the civil war battlefields. You game maybe a couple people and have a couple lookouts and using detectors where they don't look for the stuff. I've hit half a dozen. Like to hit Gettysburg in a couple weeks. Then Antietam and then head south.
alrighty-then..... I'm a part timer at & I retired from Baltimore City Parks, Have All Area Access..... Sure would like some help hunting Leaking Park this fall when the camp close up..... there are a few other places (park prop) that have always been off limits to detectors that I'm gonna hunt too....Ill see if I can find some others to hunt with.... in any case, thanks for the reply and best of luck to you
the chain..... sounds like it is either 10 kt gold, or possibly silver. (silver will turn baby blue with the 18 kt. acid). Thats a trick you can keep in mind ;)
I have used a DFX for about 20 years. The chain is probably stainless steel. Stainless has a little weight to it and it often reads under 10. If it was silver it would ring up way high like at least the upper 60's to mid 70's and higher if it is bunched up. I bet that tiny sterling earring read much higher then the chain being it nails silver really high. To this day this detector can give these top end detectors a run for the money if you master all the setting on her. For it's time when it came out in 2000 in was well ahead of technology so people struggled with it from the learning g curve but if you stay with it for 2 years it's a mean contender. I have so many amazing bucket list finds from this detector I could never get rid of it it's paid me many times over. The D2 10" DD coil is great for heavy iron but the concentric coil is deeper co pared to s coil of the same size. It's a shame they never upgraded this detector when new computer technology came to the market
I think you could do better where there was pirate ship wrecks of North Carolina and Florida or search for old civil war encampments, because you could find the big time, but Ocean City has been raked over so many times.
Some days you do good and some days you find nothing. You just don't know what your going to find. If your out to get rich forget it that wont happen. I do it for the exercise and hunting with other people to have fun.
Heck of a nice hunt!!!! Awesome job on the gold and silver!
Nice finds bud. I just got the same detector and am seeing what it can do 😁🤙
Congrats on the nice finds.
Nice vid. Really enjoyed watching.

also.... silver will turn a black color, sometimes mixed with green gobs attached.
