Great channel Claus. Loads of other channels will show you licks and practice patterns and explain what various techniques are, but you do something different and really useful when you dig into the psychology and anatomy(?) of playing and developing skills. And something else - every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to pick up the guitar and do more practising!
Keep plugging away at the videos and eventually you'll make a great player out of me!

The biggest issue I'm having to overcome is getting relaxed. If I try to increase speed, the left hand fingers seem to tense up like they are making things deliberately difficult! However, I have seen enough of Claus's videos to know that all that means is that I haven't practiced at the lower speed for long enough :)

I had the same problem - you have to tell yourself consciously out loud to relax. It works

It's all in your mind. You tense up because you think I'm going to play fast now, I need energy, power.
Just stay relaxed, tension actually slows you down.

Thanks folks - It's heartening to hear that this does happen to other people and can be fixed! I just need to stop myself and just relax the hands. WIll give Cazzie and Dan ny's tips a go :)

It's true, and one day you'll pick up the guitar and you'll FLY through something you meandered through before. THAT is the most inspiring moment in my opinion. Don't give up!

Another trick is to fret a note and as you pick slowly release the pressure on the string until it starts to buzz. Then slowly increase the pressure until it sounds clear again. The moment it stops buzzing is all the pressure you need. Do it with each finger to train yourself exactly how hard you need to press. I used to practice scales twice. Once normally and once using this technique to train that feel all over the neck.

    Thank you for this Claus!
I am using the 1st pedal tone of Yngwie's "I'll See the Light Tonight".
Currently at repetition 14,000 of one million 🤘🏻
After I'm done this pattern's million I'll move on to the next similar shape in the same solo.
Of note my 10 second sustained speed of the sequence has gone from about 80bpm to 125bpm!!!

Right! I can go from the extraordinary speed of 200bom when playing my fingers in order to only 130bom when playing out of order with my fingers. I need this ability to keep the arpeggio on strong beats. I am making quick progress through daily exercises though. One of my favorites is to play the pinky as a pedal tone arpeggio and then place the other fingers as alternate non arpeggio tones. then reverse the whole thing by using the index finger as the arpeggio tone. still at 130. so for a trick I pick in a triplet pattern playing the arpeggio twice, but careful to play my fingering at the same tempo with the metronome. I'm good enough at 130 to do this, but not to do 32nd notes. I alter back and fourth between triplets and straight 16th notes this way pausing to record it when I think I've got it. then, using my daw, I slow everything down until I can clearly hear every not I played. mistakes are now glaring. It's quite a fun and addictive gameplay that beats the check out of videogames.

As the mind blocks decreases, the efforts lessens and there is control in what can be perceived as a less dense place.

I'm convinced that Claus levin should be teaching psychology of learning. *Selfnote I need to purchase one of his packs and support the circulation

It would be cool if you could give us some more ideas for sequences. Learning and combining them was a marvellous hint.

Another great video! I can really relate to ClauseLevin. Good guy, down to earth and real. If you can think deeper than dumb, than this guy can teach you if you listen and just believe in yourself.

Its tuff cus i think my mentality changes at gigs. Its like the vocalist cues me and my left hands like oh crap! Tense up! But i go home after and can play whatever at my faster velocity, but i gotta be under little to no preasure. So frustrating cus who doesnt wana show off on stage lol
