Shantel VanSanten is excellent. She's had memorable roles in The Flash, the TV version of Shooter, The Boys, For All Mankind (a top 3 Apple TV+ show for me), the FBI shows on CBS, and now this voice role. She was even part of One Tree Hill back in the day.
@@theaikidoka I was okay with the film, but it really should have been 30 minutes shorter and just focused on the popcorn flick parts of it. It almost felt like they thought they were making the next First Blood, but instead they didn't even make the first American Sniper.
@@Dunybrook It makes perfect sense for them to break up: even before their day off together, Amber voices her ethical concerns about Mark dedicating so much attention to her, and shirking his duties as a superhero. When she talked to Eve in a previous episode, she said the same thing: she feels lonely when Mark's not around, but guilty for having such feelings even though she knows he's saving lives. They're both in an impossible position that's not fair to the other. A breakup is painful, but it's the best option for both of them.
@@Dunybrook Mark cares more about Amber than he does about some random person. He admitted as much in this very episode. Amber (and Debbie and Oliver) can be used as a weapon against him in ways that no one else can.
Rudy is trying to relate to her like a robot. It's a different kind of "clueless" than Rex's. To a "robot" being "fixed" is awesome. Monster girl's struggle with her curse keeps HER from being empathetic to Rudy's innocence in his trying to connect. This is very clever character writing, imo.
I think he wanted to ignore the bad stuff and maybe say “but that’s not gonna happen with me” but he can’t really control that. At least now he knows he can’t control it.
And he took from that what he felt he had to fix, aka make time for Amber, so she didn't feel alone, give her his full attention and focus when he was with her. Showing that he does realize that it takes effort from his part. And I love that even though he tried everything he could, it still didn't work out
Amber and Mark are so good this season. No useless drama, no betrayals, no love triangles. They REALLY tried to make it work, but it’s just impossible 💔
Amber: Mark, I don't want to, but we need to break up because being with you puts me in danger. Mark: Amber, I know, and I'm sorry. I don't want to lose you but I can't bear the thought of putting you in danger. Let's break up. **later on, aboard the Viltrumite ship** Kregg: Alright, we need to check on Invincible's progress taking over Earth. Let's check his...social media to see what he's saying to the people of Earth. What's this? Mark's relationship status is single? He and that Earth woman broke up? Well, I guess she's off-limits now. Anissa: Sir, are you serious? He probably still cares about her; I mean, they probably only broke up because I threatened her life. We could still use her to get to hi- Kregg: Silence, Anissa! We are villains and as such we will abide by the long villain tradition of only targeting a superhero's _current_ partner! Targeting exes is just plain gross. Who is Mark dating now? Anissa: You said his profile says he is single, sir. Kregg: Touche, Invincible. Touche.
It never ceases to amaze me how people think that breaking up with a superhero or a hero "lying to protect you" make any sense. Even if a villain doesn't know a hero's secret identity...any random bystander could be used against said hero. If the hero actually cared about people. Omni-Man didn't have to threaten Amber, Eve or William to traumatize Mark. A subway car full of strangers sufficed.
The explanation about animation taking a long time was such a nice and funny little addition. 😅 Ohh and that moment with Donald speaking to Rick was beautiful. The small things like that are one of the reasons I love this show.
I can’t imagine any good reason to give Amber any more slander after this. She may have been annoying about the whole secret identity thing back in Season 1 but she has done nothing but be a very supportive girlfriend and really did try to make the relationship work. The way they handled the breakup was very mature and mutual. Even though they didn’t want to stop seeing each other, they both understand the consequences just by being involved could bring. Poor Amber got mixed up in all this and almost died to someone Mark doesn’t even know just because of who he is, and it’s no surprise that was the last straw.
"I don't think you're supposed to like her, right ?" Yeah but... I kinda do for now. Incredible voice performance from Zazie Beetz during the break up scene. She made me feel for a character I didn't care much about. And the break up itself was well written, far better than whatever they did in season 1.
I understood amber in the first season but didn't like her. They made her side way more sympathetic in this season and I came to really appreciate her character.
@@mertc8050The character still hasn't made any sense until this point. They both are ending the relationship at the point where it should have started. How do you not know the danger of being with a superhero? They literally exist in that world, as well as the comics they star in. Mark should have never put her life in danger, and she should have been capable of figuring out why his secret identity was important.
@fredwin so i assume as a teenager you listenend to all the logical advice your parents and authority figures said and never made mistakes because you just thought it would work out differently for you?
I've always liked Amber, but I'm really liking how they're handling the break up. Her character has been done so much better in the series, than she was handled in the comic.
I feel for Rudy tbh. Growing up the way he did has to make understanding communication really hard. They don't teach communication skills to tube people.
47:17 I haven't read the comics, but I hate that fans are trying to spoil by hyping and heavily hinting at character traits. It's spoiling. They really don't care about those who haven't read them. They just want to ruin it for us. Just like every adaptation of a popular source material. Critics are guilty of this too.
@@TheKonkamanIt's not so much comics fans as it is emotionally stunted children that have been raised without spankings. They crave attention in any form because they never bothered to learn or do anything to make them interesting enough to interact with, so they seek out interactions of any kind to make themselves feel special. They just are not that fun or useful of person in reality off the internet, so they try to ruin everything they can where they can. Call them whatever name you choose, I don't know which names are banned to say here on youtube, but they are just immature little shits that will never grow up because they never made any effort on their part to work on themselves so that others might like them.
I get that spoilers are annoying, but her introduction is something worth talking about among the comic readers. Like are comic-readers never supposed to discuss the show at all, or make videos aimed at others in the know? While getting pseudo-spoilers about some characters importance to a show might bother you, you have to understand that constantly having to creep around all the most exciting and important stuff whle constantly being yelled at is also obnoxious. I feel like most channels are doing their best to appeal to the comic readers without spoiling the important stuff. Is the fact that an obvious villain is hated really that much of a spoiler anyway? I think dealing with some minor spoilers is just a hazard of watching an adaptation of something that has existed for years.
@@ConcreteLogicVideo Why not just start the spoilery comment with “SPOILER”. People can then choose whether they want to read it and comic book readers have a place to discuss what they want.
Fun Fact: the conversation with the creator happens in the comic as well, there is a whole page that is just the same two panels back and forth with the comic creator explaining to Mark how it is cheaper than having the artist draw every panel
I've been frustrated with Amber and Mark's relationship for a long time. I've never thought they worked that well together. But I really appreciate how long the show let them be together, because that's how difficult it is to get away from someone you love. We've all been there, trying and trying to be with someone even when we know it's not going to work out. I guess it's just a way of spending the most time we've possibly got together before the relationship inevitably ends. The problem is the longer it goes, higher are the stakes, tougher is the blow. Plus, the writers demonstrate again and again how much knowledge they have of their own show and audience. Relationships are complicated. We don't resolve them in an instant. It takes time and maturity - maturity we're not supposed to expect from youngsters like Amber and (especially) Mark. And the writers pushed through our frustration and impatience and eye rolling because they knew they could deliver a well developed bad relationship.
I'm so glad they brought Octoboss into the show, he's my absolute favorite bit character from the comics. He's so earnest and dedicated about learning the English language, even if he's not the best at it!
I don’t think it’s selfish with Rudy/Robot. He said it last season when he got his new body. He was able to overcome his “prison” and wants to help monster girl do the same. He just also has zero social skills so his words come across wrong, like “let me fix you”
Yes i dont blame rudy at all, he loves her and wants to help her.. but it is difficult to help someone you love when that person doesnt want to face their own issues to begin with.
Not quite fair to Mark suggesting that he saw his mom's pain and went on with Amber anyway. Remember his mom said she didn't regret meeting him, and that the worst portions were when Nolan was gone -- but that can apply to any job that takes one half away for a while, it's whether the time they spend together is enough to make up for it. In Debbie's case, it seems it was -- remember that their relationship at the beginning of the first season, before Nolan's betrayal, almost seemed like 'couple's goals'. Mark's situation isn't quite the same though, as Mark obviously still hasn't reached the level of power Nolan had, nor the level of ruthlessness that I assume Nolan had throughout, so Mark's involvement with a norm is a lot more dangerous. I'm sure had anybody even threatened to mess with Debbie they would have found their head shoved up their grandparent's behind.
I love anytime they have a Viltrumite show up. You can tell Mark is getting slowly stronger, since he got OBLITERATED when he fought Omni-Man. He’s not getting absolutely battered around like he used to, and it seems like his fighting skills are getting a lot better - since he can’t just use raw strength anymore because his opponents know how to use theirs infinitely better. Still a long way to go before he can contend with Viltrumites consistently though.
I think another aspect is that Anissa isn’t trying to win exactly, if she was really going full force she would’ve been hitting like Nolan and destroying cities, she was purposefully keeping it in the sky and along that beach because she wants Mark to get she, and by extension viltrumites, doesn’t want to hurt humans
@@KilvinTheOdd @stsamurai_ Also, remember that Mark is holding back. A lot. It was very explicit during the fight with the old Viltrumite chick on the insect planet, who he absolutely demolished after he stopped holding back so much (he still held back, and so got stabbed). It's also hinted during this episode, with Mark telling Amber that he felt anger, but didn't want to give in to the darkness because he didn't want to be like his father (I'm paraphrasing). I still don't think he could have taken on Anissa, but he certainly could have given her much more of a challenge.
Honestly, I see Mark and Cecil kinda like Superman and Batman. Cecil is Batman, looking for ways to keep Superman in check if he ever turns evil. Cecil just wants to protect people, but has that government shade going on.

I don't think Rudy has selfish intent, just control issues. If Monster Girl keeps deaging, she'll eventually become a toddler or a baby, and will lose mental faculties. She needs to do something about it, or she's going to have to stop being a hero for a few years to regain speech.
No, I think Rudy’s doing it for selfish reasons. He literally created himself to be the same age as monster girl. He created himself to look like Rex, whom monster girl kinda had a crush on. And he doesn’t want her to de-age anymore because then they can’t be together. All of which he asked zero people permission for. He stole Rex’s DNA, and he assumes that him and monster girl are a thing, even though she’s directly told him that they’re not. he continues to pursue the idea of “fixing her” when she never asked him to. He’s overstepping boundaries left and right and everyone still thinks it’s OK. It’s not.
@@funnylilgalreacts I *never* said he didn't cross boundaries or that what he has done is right. It is wrong, and he's shown his disregard and detachment ever since he suggested nuking downtown New York to get rid of the Flaxans. He struggled to empathize and connect. But there is a difference between being mildly sociopathic and socially disconnected, not realizing that people don't want to be "fixed", and having actual, malicious, selfish, wrong intentions. You're reading that into him, when his actual *intentions* are good. Making himself young to better connect with Monster Girl is selfish, but he never intended to cause harm. She expressed to him that she felt alone, that no one could understand what her life was like, and he decided to "fix" that problem for her. Rudy is all about logic. To him, if there's an issue, and you *can* fix it, then you should just do it. Someone refusing to let you help out of pride or fear or even a sense of autonomy or genuine self-acceptance seems irrational and illogical to him. He struggles to understand people, but he *does* want to *help* and do *good things*. That's why he risks his life as a superhero to protect the world. He's done some fucked up things and he's acted in ways that are controlling, egocentric, and unethical. But he's never been malicious. He's acted thus far with good intentions. And yes, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. But I don't think it's fair to extrapolate from that that Rudy's worse than he is. Amanda has a genuine, possibly life-threatening issue, one that will at minimum jeopardize her ability to be a hero eventually, and she seems content to ignore the issue, and Rudy struggles to understand that.
In my opinion Monster Girl needs to let go of her ego and actively find a solution to her problem. Nothing good comes out of her aging backwards each time sooooooo yeah, she does need some fixing lol
In the books, Anissa does some pretty unforgivable stuff to mark that lead to some permanent consequences between them... The books are much sillier but much more brutal as well.
Honestly, I'm still not sure i like how they're handling Monster Girl's curse compared to the comics. If I'm not mistaken, she and Rudy had already agreed he would keep try to find a way to prevent her from ageing and she was more frustrated that nothing was working.
Yeah. Amanda was a bit freaked out by Rudy's actions at first, but quickly went all in to try. Feels like they are adding to it to put more drama in the relationships to me. However. I am delighted to no end that they are giving Rex attention and allowing him a bit of his redemption arc on the show.
In the last episode, when you asked if spider-man's hand sign being used by Rex was okay i would totally disagree, but i guess Amazon did pay Sony, so that they let this kind of things happen. There were rumors of a crossover since there is a comic with Spider-man and Invincible, Doc Ock too, but i guess Sony didn't let them use the actual look or names related to the popular Marvel characters in this show. Maybe Amazon didn't want to pay more to put the actual Spidey in it. But the hand sign or this spidey character they created and Prof Ock were not the only things related to it, if you didn't notice, Monster Girl looks a lot like the Ultimate Green Goblin from marvel comics, since day one. I did notice it clearly when Rudolph did make a robot body version of her monster transformation for her. So with that said, it is totally okay.
nolan struggled against the monster because of writer choices. in the comics nolan is way stronger, almost none of the Guardians saw death coming and he finished the monster pretty easily
I thought getting shot in the head will be the end of you until my friend had me feel the entry and exit wound in the back of his head. Holding your friends head like a bowling ball will defiantly change your opinion about it real quick, lol.
I honestly think they'll still include "that event" in some form, maybe sanitized, but only when it makes sense in the story, after Mark has proven his strenght to the Viltrumites a bit more.
Although I don't entirely see why Amber doesn't just go work for the GDA. Like I guess if I was in love with a superhero and we were trying as hard as we could to make it work, I would try to go get a job with the GDA, especially considering it would align with Amber's interests wanting to genuinely actually help people. I don't know. Maybe that's not the right direction but
I laughed very hard when we got that conversation at Comic-Con. Such a good breaking the fourth wall. And as long as I've wanted for Mark and Samantha a relationship, Mark's and Amber's breaking up was hard to watch. And Anissa's voice actress also played Butcher's wife in "The Boys". Also I'm gonna start the comic book series to catch all the diferences and be ahead of a storyline.
Just like every adaptation for a movie/tv series look like. I've read "The Walking Dead" comic book series and I've watched tv series, so I'll be aware of differences, but thanks for advice.
@@pawea1347 Yeah, don't worry I'm not one of those people who are like "It's different, so it's bad!" lol I read the comics first so I was surprised by how different the animated series is, but I also think it's great! It keeps things fresh for me.
No, I don't think you can trademark an arm cannon, no matter the design. I'm sure neither actually came up with it but if that was a thing Capcom and Marvel would have locked that one down a long time ago.
I love how the villains in this show are basically completely right saying that humanity will destroy itself unless we help intervene. Not saying I would want to live under a fascist government but if they could fix the majority of the problems in our world than... I'm not really sure why everyone is refusing it so hard
The thing is, it feels like everytime Mark gets beat up, he heals stronger, if they keep beating him up and letting him live, he will be strong enough to fight them. And really I think he kinda is already, he just pulls his punches too much.
Yeah for real. No spoilers but that’s a pretty common thought if you read the whole series. He just needs to stop holding back and think about the stakes
26:00 1Q - Anissa wishes to see how strong Mark is 2Q - You say Omni-Man had a rough go of it against a Kaiju 1A - Nobody gets to see how strong Mark is; he keeps fucking *holding back* 2A - He had a rough go of it against a 'roided-up, upgraded Kaiju. Also, not all Kaiju are the same. Kaiju racist.
I'm wondering if Alan's whole possum plan is to get in and extract Omniman. IDK, I remember enough of the comic to recognize Anissa's name... well that and other stuff I'm obviously not going to mention... but I know she's BAD news.
I actually don't think Rex is dumb. To me he is a young immature person who lacks wisdom. He is growing. He is definitely a little wiser a little older and a lot more mature than he was. I think this is true of most young people.
Okay but like, what is the Viltrumite healthcare policy? How is their infrastructure? Their public schools? What is the day to day life of a the average citizen under Viltrumite rule? Because TBH it might just be better than what we've got now.
@@funnylilgalreactsI have seen nothing of Viltrumites to indicate that they see the people they conquer as equals. Viltrumites had a massive war with their own people to cull the weak. I don't think their idea of "helping" lesser races quite fits in with the human version of "help'.
Yay! New video! I love that we're getting to see more from Donald. His story is getting really interesting! I... I'm sorry, I really hate the Rudy/Monster Girl stuff. This isn't some "I'm not broken" kind of a situation... She literally has a curse. He's not trying to change who she is, he's trying to *cure an affliction* . Granted, he does have feelings for her and that makes it weird, but... It's like if you went to the doctor and they found a tumor... and then you get pissed off at them for wanting to remove it.
If you tell them not to they won't keep trying dumbass. By all means, try to convince her, but he's literally breaking boundaries she's set up constantly...
That's a terrible analogy. This is not just an affliction to be treated. There are negative and positive aspects to it. And she did not go to him about it to begin with. He decided it was his job to fix her issue without any input from her at all, and then ignored her repeatedly telling him to cut it out. If he would quit trying to force it on her she'd probably be way more willing to accept help.
A tumor isn't part of your identity. Remember that for Monster Girl, he's talking about changing a part of her that has been all she's known since the beginning. It's closer to telling someone, "You know, you see more colors than most people, that's why you get headaches. We can fix that for you, but you'd lose that sense of color you now have.."
@@Voidheartd It's not a perfect 1-to-1 analogy so therefore is has no meaning? That seems like a silly argument to make. He is quite possibly the only person who *can* help her. He's recognized for his intelligence and problem solving capability. She has made it clear she doesn't want to date him, and that's totally fine. But she could easily set new boundaries and approach him like "Listen man, I don't like you like that. But I still need your help. And afterward, the only thing you'll get from me is gratitude and possibly friendship, nothing more.". I'm just saying, it's absolutely idiotic to accept a horrible death sentence just because this non-threatening love-sick man-child is being socially awkward about it.
@@sproo6412 Did they confirm that she'd lose her powers? That last solution he presented was for her to be able to use a mech suit instead of transforming, so she could age at a rate that's closer to normal. But yeah, I do see the point you're making. And if that's right, I really wish they'd focus on that more because at least it makes logical sense.

That’s why I ask people to post “spoiler“ before they say something, so I can just skim past it and everybody else can have the conversation. I don’t think that’s a hard ask. And I definitely want people to talk about things that they love about the show or something that I said, I just don’t want storylines ruined for me.
Are any dance movements copyrighted? that's the closest comparison, maybe the thumbs up for Hitch Hiker's Guide, but you can draw a different thumbs up icon.
We still don't know if there are actually any downsides to being a part of the Viltrum empire. No more hunger, cancer or crime is such a huge benefit but what do they ask in return? Anything? We dunno.
Anissa is a problem, wow! Question, for the most part it seems a lot of your comments are respectful about not giving spoilers, but how much of a task is for you to avoid spoilers from other sources that might pop up randomly? I just asked cause I was on RUclips today and some recommendation’s came up and spoiled a few things for me. (I was a tad annoyed)
The hand symbol is great considering Spiderman appeared in the comics, but that's not gonna happen in the show. I don't consider that a spoiler cause no way would Marvel, Disney, or Sony let him appear in this show.
While I understand where you are coming from concerning robot's attempts to help monster girl, I have to disagree with you. Monster girl is choosing "freedom" over her own good. If she comtinues to use her powers she will eventaully cease to be Monster Girl, just like she stopped being Monster Woman. . It is a form of self harm, and if the Guardians of the Globe cared about her at all, they would give her an intervention.
@@nihlify She was terribly written. Literally the only character changes that were worse than the comic version. Even Robert Kirkman said they screwed up how they wrote her in season 1, so unless you know better than the creator of the character then you're just being weird.
Amber had a monumental patience in dealing with all of this throughout the time she and Mark have been together. I'm a little bothered by the way certain reactors roll their eyes (and trash talk) when they [Amber and Mark] are together but I think it comes down to the writing and character development. Between a more realistic and perhaps even hardened character/romantic interest and an "easy to please", bland one, I usually prefer the first. Or someone in the middle. Ballanced, perhaps? I haven't read the comics, so far they are not on my list and I have avoided spoilers but hope remains here that they'll be okay and happy - although the show has already made it clear that it might not be a good idea to get too attached to certain characters!

Debbie also talked a lot about the positive aspects of her relationship with Nolan, which is clearly what Mark took away from the conversation.
**later on, aboard the Viltrumite ship**
Kregg: Alright, we need to check on Invincible's progress taking over Earth.
We could still use her to get to hi-
Kregg: Silence, Anissa! We are villains and as such we will abide by the long villain tradition of only targeting a superhero's _current_ partner! Targeting exes is just plain gross. Who is Mark dating now?
Anissa: You said his profile says he is single, sir.
Kregg: Touche, Invincible. Touche.
Now I kinda want Kregg to be comical like this.
The design for Filip Schaff (the author of Seance Dog) is based on Ryan Ottley, penciller for the Invincible comics for most of its run.
Everyone who has read the comics all simultaneously shit their pants upon seeing Anissa. Few characters invoke such fear and rage in a fandom.
ngl when i saw her standing on mark i was like aint no way they do it now lol
I love how excited you get whenever you see Allen because I get that way too 😂 it’s so wholesome ❤
The explanation about animation taking a long time was such a nice and funny little addition. 😅
Ohh and that moment with Donald speaking to Rick was beautiful.
The slander will continue. I’m looking forward to seeing her in a future episode.
I won’t say how but the end of their relationship played out Very differently in the comics.
@@antkempwill it tho? 🤔
@@masemboross4996 yeah they had to let her save face in the show compared to the comics where she was a total bitch till the end of her panel time.

"I don't think you're supposed to like her, right ?"
Yeah but...
Yeah what they did in season 1 had a lot of woke influence for sure glad they saw the error of their ways
11:15 honestly the most wholesome intro and I love it 🩵
I feel for Rudy tbh.
Yeah it makes it hard to read the comments
Comic fans are notoriously bad for spoilers, they love to do it because they are superior for having read comics 🤷♂️
Another fun fact they changed the design of the comic creator and he kinda looks like Kirkman this time
I've been frustrated with Amber and Mark's relationship for a long time.
Donald is an amazing character. Cecil is the brains of the GDA. Donald is the heart.
I think Rex is allowed to make that hand motion to activate his wrist gun. But he better not say "THWIP!" while doing it...
I know right?!!
@@KilvinTheOdd @stsamurai_
Also, remember that Mark is holding back.
FUN FACT: Ezra Miller didn't reprise his role as D.A. Sinclair

They really Mr Feeny-ed Mark's high school principal 😅😅

I thought the writer was voiced by Robert Kirkman too, it would have added an extra layer of meta to it, but he was voiced by Tim Robinson
same LMAO
In my opinion Monster Girl needs to let go of her ego and actively find a solution to her problem. Nothing good comes out of her aging backwards each time sooooooo yeah, she does need some fixing lol
OH GOD SHE'S HERE!
That Anissa is insane !!
Nolan struggled because he had just been hit by 2 space lasers, 3 reanimen, Donald's explosion etc...
46:08 i think that convo or a convo like that was also in the comic too lol

Although I don't entirely see why Amber doesn't just go work for the GDA.

I replied this to someone, but I think it bears repeating. Dealing with some minor spoilers is just a hazard of watching an adaptation of something that has existed for years. I mean, is the fact that an obvious villain is hated really that much of a spoiler anyway? I think you just have to live with some level of spoilers because you can't just force everyone who has read the comics to sit quietly in a corner for the next 5 years.
That’s why I ask people to post “spoiler“ before they say something, so I can just skim past it and everybody else can have the conversation. I don’t think that’s a hard ask. And I definitely want people to talk about things that they love about the show or something that I said, I just don’t want storylines ruined for me.

Amber had a monumental patience in dealing with all of this throughout the time she and Mark have been together. More than that, it is happening because she s choosing to change. She is actively engaging in self destructive behavior.
That’s her choice. People are trying to justify boundaries being crossed by saying she’s harming herself when that’s not really what’s happening.
@@funnylilgalreacts I could give you spoilers to prove otherwise, but I know you don't want that.
A prison that likely has Nolan.
I love your channel. You are very pretty and entertaining to watch.❤❤😎😎💯💯👍👍😊😊
Dean Winslow needs to ease up off Mark; on top of possible Viltrumite invasions, he’s got his own family matters to handle
Fun Fact: Angstrom Levy wasn't even in this episode until you asked about him. You're a wizard!
Wasn't he at comic con, how did he not see Mark there?
Anissa already in my top three. Love her.
You won't for long...
You wont 💀
^why do people leave comments like that. shit is so cringe
