I actually really like the price integration in the video itself. It makes it really easy to price out a deck, and it really helps with people who would be only looking to pick up a few of the cards that they might need. All in all, a great idea and I hope that you guys stick wtih it!
Shambling Vent should probably be in there too. At least 2 of them. Being able to put +1/+1 counters on the vent itself via the serene steward seems pretty good.
Love this deck! I've been playing it with a splash of Mardu red for Munda and painful truth. I play it now with Gideon and Drana and a Ob Nixilis. Also play it with Bloodbound vampire which is pretty solid, too. Totally stoked to see this deck-tech. Good stuff.
I run a version of this deck that goes all-in on the life drain. So, out go the envoys, healers and bladewhirls. In comes painful truths, unified front and retreat to emerias. Also, the land base includes 4 evolving wilds (instead of caves of koilos), a forest and a mountain (for converge). 12 fetch lands means tons of retreat triggers that make more allies (even on opponent's turns) to broaden the board, make chump blockers and drain life. I also have a copy of ruinous path main decked because it's hilarious when awakened.
I like that you put the list ready to click and buy. Much move convenient that just saying, "oh and by the way you can buy them here." Super Cool. Like.
DO THIS MORE!!! when it comes to watching a deck tech, i think its good to have the price of each card shown as you talk, and TCG mid is probably used by most players
I love allies. I've been playing a R/w build that uses munda to dig for resolute blademaster to kill them, but I've been thinking of adding black to it as well.
I made a similar deck but with a slightly higher budget. I made a B/W ally control that was pretty fun. Used the healer, cutthroat, and emissary along with retreat to emeria and 2 Gideions (pretty much the whole cost of the deck) to generate those lovely ally tokens. Duress, despise, and pacifism were my control cards. Try to get rid of the threat before it had a chance to come into play. I think I'm pretty much just missing my encircling fissures to fog any damage I didn't want to deal with. I've since made it a little more aggro by sizing down some of the control for captain's claws, stoneforge masterworks, and stonehaven outfitter. Pretty fun casual deck and only spent about $15 tops for everything other than the two Gideions. This deck has been slaying my Vizkopa Loop deck which was probably my best deck until now. Little hard to say though since I typically don't care about my life on my VIz deck but with the drain from the emissary and healer I can't really afford to cast read the bones back to back anymore
+TheManaSource Thank you so much for yet another amazing deck tech, as always your true passion for MTG is always appreciated, just finished building my b/w allies deck, just need a Gideon or two to finish it off! Happy Holidays Wedge!
+Boozamooz I believe that since the deck is trying to be more aggro than combo, it doesn't want to use too many big game ending spells, since we only use two march from the tomb.
I personally love adding the Archangel of Tithes. They have to pay to attack and block, and it drives removal away from your emissaries, gideons and Dranas
I didn't think the TCG Player integration was too obtrusive. If it can help bring revenue and inspire you folks to do more deck techs, I'm all for it. However, one thing that I would like to change is the lack of decklists. A budget decklist and maybe also an upgraded decklist would make considering the deck easier. Not that I can't do this myself, but it would make things easier.
I did a draft tourney a couple of months back and I ran black/white ally and it did fairly well. I didn't have everything that I needed but I saw that the deck had a ton of potential. :) lots of fun to play with.
I've been thinking about putting 4 Valorous Stance in the main board for my Mardu allies because it gets rid of Siege Rhino, you can respond to your opponent combo-ing off in Atarka red with Become Immense and Temur Battle-Rage, and the worst thing that happens if it resolves is you save one of your creatures from removal or save it in combat if you need it. Can't really go wrong with it.
My friend made a five color ally deck at prerelease and still uses it. It usually beats us with brute force after aggravating us with sadistic orzhov shenanigans.
I Have been using TCGplayer for ordering singles for a long time, Love the integration into the video! would love to see some legacy deck techs even though they wouldn't necessarily be "budget"
Made something like that, but put in Bloodbond vampire over Lantern scout. Higher on the curve, but with a Kalastria Healer on the field it enters as a 4/4 that gets bigger each ally even without the steward.
Ive been brewing with a similar sort of deck, its nice, im considering the sorcery speed heroes downfall and the relevent retreats for ally trigger, life drain, and power boosts on landfall
I'd love to see you splash some red into this deck tech. I feel like the rally (haste and double strike creatures) could make it even more offensive. Double strike is also good for the late game. Also, if you integrate red to make it Jeskai instead of Orzhov, you could add a couple of Mardus
I'm playing an abzan variant with tajuru stalwart and warcaller. along with veteran warleader. the bigger bodies really help with keeping yourself alive and closing out the game
I will have to let you know on Friday after FNM how this deck works, I've been playing a modified version of this deck which includes Hero of Goma-Fada for the indestructible effect. I feel like there are very few decks(even tho most of the creatures in this deck are 2/1, 1/2, 2/2, 2/3 or whatever) in standard that can actually overcome this deck if you play the cards in the right order and your draws are good. Also, since OGW, what do you think about running a playset of Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim? I'm going to be running a playset of her for the first time in my B/W Ally deck and even tho she's not an ally, she's ridiculously powerful in her own and even, it seems, in the standard-legal B/W Ally deck. Any thoughts you'd like to share with me on this b4 FNM?
TCG Player what a combo with TheManaSource. Definitely will enjoy the option of deck ordering in a easy button like this especially with occasional updates on what the newest and best cards are in the new standard format.
Love it all wedge. U did a great job. I thought of building something like this along the lines. For people that can't afford it . I would suggest throwing in Makindi Patrol instead of the lantern scout. And for lands i would also suggest a couple sandstone bridges because of that extra +1/+1 and vigilance and if you think about it since there are alot of 1 and 2 drops these lands won't slow you down. And you will get a good hit early in game. I actually built a boros ally deck. I can't wait to see what wizards prints in the next set ally wise. Maybe more ally color options will open up for other players
+Ian Burns (The Asylum Collector) Vigilence is pretty bad in "aggro" decks. It looks good on paper but once you try it it's just subpar, I tried it in my BW warrior deck and it didn't do anything. You could just gain a ton of life, plus this deck is a lifegain deck and scout is the best ally for the job it can't really be taken out.
I could easily see this in a mardu deck, adding crackling doom and such. Also would love to see a U/R eldrazi type of deck, but from seeing some of the new spoilers it may only be a thing after the next set drops.
Ive been playingpretty much exactly the same deck (with 2 drana's) the past couple of months and it is really fun to play. I even pulled out a 1-1-0 at modern!
First of all, i LOVE TcgPlayer! It's an amazing site, i get most of my singles there if my lgs doesn't have what i'm looking for. The price integration is a huge plus! If i was looking for an "upgrade" for the deck i'd swap Caves of Koilos for Shambling Vents
My B/W allies deck is pretty similar, but I run Felidar Sovereign and some other life gain cards. I also like to run a couple copies of Bloodbond Vampire (in place of Serene Steward for counters) because they can get huge thanks to Kalastria Healer and Zulaport Cutthroat. Retreat to Emeria is also nice to get more ally triggers sometimes. Ondu Rising and Healing Hands are some decent lifegain cards as well that come with nice secondary effects. I also threw in a Drana Liberator of Malakir because she is a nice ally with a nice ability to pump up everything to make lifelink from the Lantern Scout or Ondu Rising even better! Malakir Familiar works nicely for the life gain as well and gives you some guys in the air. Sadly its not an ally! Otherwise, I agree with every card in this deck. March From The Tomb is so underrated, but its brutal in an ally deck!
I like Bloodbond Vampire. With 12 Cards that trigger its ability, some even multiple times is nice. And Felidar Sovereign is a nice touch as we'll. That makes it a bit slower, but I like it :D
I'd maybe recommend Malakir Familiar since think about a turn: Gain one from the emissary play down an ally maybe, trigger 2 kalastria healers gain another two and look at that you swing with a 5/4 flying deathtouch
Super excited to try this out. Been wanting to play allies for a while now haha. Now my only hope is for a 5 color ally commander in the future. Or at least 4 color ally.
What about Shambling Vent ? it fits the lifegain theme and provide a way to dump your unused mana on the later turns. Also, Retreat to Emeria/Hagra could be interesting to add if you are aiming for a slower version of the deck.
Great video! Wedge I am building this deck. It looks really fun and it seems like a good deck to get into standard with (I'm new to the standard format). So what cards would you consider removing from the deck if you included the Gideons and Dranas?
i like the price thing that you were doing. honestly i would love to see a little more Tiny Leaders, pun not intended, to be honest. i just wish there was more push into that format.
I really like the prices but also I think at the end u should have a picture of the decklist so u could just screenshot it with ur phone... this helps if ud like to go to a local store and buy cards
Would you ever consider adding cliffhaven vampire from oath of the gatewatch to this deck? If so what would you swap out and how many would you put in?
been running this deck since release, and pre release deck was like it, only exception no kor bladewhirlers I play bloodbond vampire, and no lantern scouts I use a Drana and Lilliana, works quite well, between Lilliana and zulaport, killing your things is a bad idea for opponent
this could be a good shell for the leaked bw kor, if it actually a thing. Also, no felidar soverign (the life cat) for an alt win con for top of the curve?
I love TCG Player. I don't shop anywhere else. They always list the best price first, so there's no need to haggle, it's just wonderful. And Cape Fear Games sends you these little Goblin tokens with every purchase. I fracking love them. : ) I'll never go back to Cool Stuff Inc or StarCityGames again. : )
Price on every card is really good way to get sponsors without being annoying. Well done. Keep it up. Consider siding up with European biggest online card market too. For those of us that don't use TCG
why not add a few smoldering marshes with your fetches, i think splash red and use chasm guides, the haste can be a deadly addition when you wanna finish, also it allows you to run kolagans command and crackling doom
Hey so I've been trying to make a budget standard deck for a while now and since I just picked magic up (after a LONG break) during the release of BFZ I have most of these cards. If I were able to upgrade the deck slightly with adding 2 drana's (only have 2) and one giddeon (only have one) would throwing a Sorin solemn visitor in there be any good? Also Shambling vents? I really like the integration with TCG player prices, but for budget decks the this it doesn't work too amazingly, since the cart optimizer doesn't seem to care that the site doesn't let it ship if the price for each seller is less than $1, and it doesn't come up to enough to do TCGPlayer Direct shipping.
The TCG addition is a great idea. Helps everyone. Hurts no one. Except other card dealers. But what can you do? People go where it's most convenient...
+Lulu Emo I have found Serene Steward to be too slow when I have played my version of this deck as well. Used to play with her and Bloodbond Vampire, but stacking the tokens takes way too long (two turns let's say), and then they just get wiped. We're playing March of the Tomb because the board will get wiped, so playing stacking mechanics doesn't work so well. So yeah, Stewards can go.
+Gasuta LP instead take out the scoured barrens. yes they give you life when they enter but shambling vents will give you more in the long rune. i would keep the caves.
+Gasuta LP I use vents in my B/W warriors deck, but only as a 2 of. This deck can run 4 cave and 4 vents since it wants the game to go a bit longer and gets extra value fom lifelink (Serene steward can pump your vent and keep the counters on a "creature" that can only be killed at instant speed.)
I actually really like the price integration in the video itself. It makes it really easy to price out a deck, and it really helps with people who would be only looking to pick up a few of the cards that they might need. All in all, a great idea and I hope that you guys stick wtih it!

7:15 did he really just use "the bee's knees?"... Love it
+Ray Dai ;)
Love this deck! I've been playing it with a splash of Mardu red for Munda and painful truth. I play it now with Gideon and Drana and a Ob Nixilis.

Glad you got the sponsor dude! I've been using Tcg since you mentioned them in a past video.

Do you think you could do a blue/black eldrazi ingest deck, pls?
I have a buddy who runs that. icy blast helps him win way too many games.
+Themanasource good video! Loved the TCG player include, more modern and budget is always good start!
Remember, if you want the deck list, you can check it out right here!
bit.ly/1Ia1kKd
Make it mardu and play outnumber. Value.
+Bradford Young Also, Munda Ambush Leader is great in this deck i think, being able to Filter for Allies is very nice.
+TheManaSource Why didn't you put Rally the Ancestors in this Deck? Look at mtg goldfish's most recent budget standard deck. It's insane
+TheManaSource Thank you so much for yet another amazing deck tech, as always your true passion for MTG is always appreciated, just finished building my b/w allies deck, just need a Gideon or two to finish it off! Happy Holidays Wedge!

brought it up and it came out to right at $22. I'm definitely treating myself to this as a Christmas present.
I remember my allys having Double strike, First Strike, Menece, Lifelink, Vigilance, Indestructable, and Haste :)

I'd probably add a few Blood Bound Vamps, they're a little mana-pricey/slow but they can avalanche into something crazy.

Super excited to try this out. Been wanting to play allies for a while now haha. Now my only hope is for a 5 color ally commander in the future. Or at least 4 color ally.
Thanks for the idea!
Like the TCG integration. Enjoyed the deck.
I think Emeria Retreat is essential for any Budget Ally deck with white. It basically turns a useless land drop into a Rally trigger.
Any chance of getting an updated version of this with Oath of the Gatewatch out now?
What about Shambling Vent ? it fits the lifegain theme and provide a way to dump your unused mana on the later turns.
Also, Retreat to Emeria/Hagra could be interesting to add if you are aiming for a slower version of the deck.
Really like the TCGPlayer pricing and link. Keep it up. Will you try to build a Villainous Wealth deck?
price integration is awesomely awesome please do this forever
I'm running kalastria nightwatch in mine, works very well
Yeah I love tcg I'm building that snake edh deck and u got a gaea's cradle cheap I can't wait for it to get here
Love the price integration
The reason he is running March over Rally is that this deck is messed focused on rally triggers, so having them stay on the battlefield is superior
No mention to Shambling Vent?
I really like the prices but also I think at the end u should have a picture of the decklist so u could just screenshot it with ur phone... this helps if ud like to go to a local store and buy cards
why no bloodbond vampire?
harsh sustenance for a removal? works well because you have a lot of creatures and again triggers life gain
Think splashing green for CoCo would be good?
What would your opinion be for Hero of Goma Fada? He may be able to run it if you were to be more agrressive.
You could look to jam 1-2 Sorin while he's still around also, at least worth testing.
tcg hype! love the prices in the video
this could be a good shell for the leaked bw kor, if it actually a thing. Also, no felidar soverign (the life cat) for an alt win con for top of the curve?
what about shambling vents
allies are awesome, honestly i've wanted to build a deck with them for a while.
Yes Finally! Thanks Wedge :)
Thoughts on Bloodbond Vampire? It gets pretty big with all the life gain, but it is expensive at 4 mana....
i love so much to listen you speaking man
I think I might splash red in for Butcher of the Hord.
I love TCG Player. I don't shop anywhere else. They always list the best price first, so there's no need to haggle, it's just wonderful. And Cape Fear Games sends you these little Goblin tokens with every purchase. I fracking love them. : )
I'll never go back to Cool Stuff Inc or StarCityGames again. : )
Would this deck be better if you added in a couple shambling vent?
Price on every card is really good way to get sponsors without being annoying. Well done. Keep it up. Consider siding up with European biggest online card market too. For those of us that don't use TCG
+Romualdos666 Working on this now :)
Use Captain's Claws... A new creature and rally trigger every turn in addition to what you play.
Could hero of goma fada be a card that you could implement into a side board or even main?
why not add a few smoldering marshes with your fetches, i think splash red and use chasm guides, the haste can be a deadly addition when you wanna finish, also it allows you to run kolagans command and crackling doom
Retreat to Emeria/Hagra? lastly Bloodbond vampire?
+TheManaSource I'm looking for a non-aggro style budget (preferably extreme budget like
i liked that you showed the prices to us
Hey Wedge what do I replace for Drana and Gideon?
what would you take out to put the play set of goz in?
Great partnership - very convenient. I wonder how are their international (EU) shipping rates.
For EU I recommend MKM (Magiccardmarket) :)
Bernergy Hm, an user-to-user trade site. A bit different from tcgplayer then, a bit fiddlier to build a deck from 0 but -I suppose- potentially cheaper, too.
Thanks for the tip!
Been wishing you'd do this (list tcg prices)
You should do a artifact green infenct deck tech
I really like the integration with TCG player prices, but for budget decks the this it doesn't work too amazingly, since the cart optimizer doesn't seem to care that the site doesn't let it ship if the price for each seller is less than $1, and it doesn't come up to enough to do TCGPlayer Direct shipping.
The TCG addition is a great idea. Helps everyone. Hurts no one. Except other card dealers. But what can you do? People go where it's most convenient...
I've played this in draft before and it gets INSANE. I've had 40 plus life, in a DRAFT
if you want to make the expensive version, what would you pull out to add the upgrade?
what should we take out for drana and gideon
all the serene stewarts and maybe 1 or 2 Lantern. scouts
Take out Kor Bladewhirl. It's quite a non-bo with Drana
"Take care of the Jace like the price."-Wedge
I know you my of said it before but for all of us in the uk what's the best site as we work in £ not $
is shambling vent an alternative to caves of koilos? vent is slower but it's another lifelinker.
EDH would be cool to cover more often.
The mtgo triggers on serene steward are incredibly aggravating.
Has this rotated already?! Sorry I've never tried standard before and this deck's my first attempt to enter the format.Would love an answer! Thanks!
Selesniya Ageless Entity life gain deck tech please
