Loved John's video yesterday with the Cybertruck teardown. While I'm absolutely not a fan of the exterior styling of the Cybertruck, seeing it torn down and the level of engineering used throughout is extremely impressive and something you can only appreciate in a teardown video like that. Great stuff, hope we get to see more as the teardown continues.

Not just Tesla fans. There are at least a dozen studies out on this topic from widely varied sources and methods. The more factors they take into account, the better EVs look.
I was very impressed with Sean's detailed presentation. Maybe the best I've ever seen for one of these studies.
I was especially impressed that he laid out the very important info that was missing from the study (BNEF should be ashamed for releasing a report that did not include the oil supply chain emissions).
Studies that do include oil supply chain emissions show EVs and ICE having the same total emissions after less than one year of operation. In some cases even before being driven.
If we couple this with the improvements projected by BMW, which can be expected across the entire industry, then we can see the writing on the wall.

You ever notice how whenever someone does an EV tear down the whole area is completely free of grease and oil? Speaks volumes to how much cleaner these vehicles are when they are being maintained. The auto shop now looks like a hospital. instead of something that was blanketed by an oil spill.

BMW is demostrating legacy automakers how to make an ev and has a good profit. There is no "transition platform" The ev (just like Tesla) had to be designed as a 100% BEV with careful attention to cost reduction and reliability, and providing its own software. The ev sector of BMW had the most grouth, and now it will become the most profitable. Congratulations to BMW.

hint: as you see in the clip from the video, if in a year's time you should experience the misfortune of having a bad harness in your expensive Cybertruck because they spec'd the wrong gauge wire, they likely won't be sending out mobile techs to replace these in customer's driveway (not in the rain, not in the summer heat, not in the winter cold).

As for lifespan, dumping a $500 phone that is worthless after 5 years is a bit different than a $40K vehicle. I keep track of when Tesla entered the S&P500 since that time Tesla is down around 22% and the S&P500 is up 42% so the delta is a negative 64%
Tesla does not pay a dividend (gm and Ford do), and S&P500 at least a 5% dividend total over that period so Telsa is down around 69%
Tesla P/E is down around 70%
Not good for all the retirement accounts that have an S&P500 type low-cost index fund (the fund is not equal weight at one time Tesla was around 5% of the index)

Why would you think BNEF would be honest about the emissions specifications? Michael Bloomberg is part of Glasgow National Alliance for net zero. Along with Blackrock investments trying to eliminate fossil fuels all together. You also may wish to educate yourself on the inhumane use of slave labor to mine the minerals needed for batteries.
