In my experience, it’s easier to adjust stroke mechanics/style to generate speed and power than it is to have control and feel. Most so called power paddle sacrifice control and feel to create a paddle that generates more power. Best to make slight adjustments to the ball strike imo.
I've found that this grip will compress and shrink a good bit after some play. Diadem plans to release other versions of this same paddle. A power version and what they're calling a power pro model. Wondering if both or at least one will also be thermoformed.
Really enjoy your reviews, love the straight/analytical approach vs hype and pushing sales. Keep up the great work! Side note, your teasing us hard with those Novas, excited to hear more about those! I’ve been using an R3 pulsar and want to see how it compares.
@@johnkewpickleballAre you going to review both R1 and R3 Nova? I noticed that the R3 isn't advertised as going to be on sale tomorrow on their official website, as opposed to the R1 Nova.
Thanks for the detailed review. I am having trouble returning serves with this paddle to a place I want! With my previous paddles, 7,8 out of 10 I could return the ball to where I wanted to but with the 18k Edge, the ball just weaves to some unwanted directions! I bought a used one, so I don’t know if its a faulty paddle or all 18k edge are like this! Going through reviews to see if somebody else notices this, but so far haven’t seen any!
Educational standard: one has to be exposed to an item of information at least 7X before ingrained into memory bank. Power/Pop definition, Uhh, not ready for the quiz yet, keep up the good work.
I saw reference to the Ronbus R3 Nova on your spreadsheet but don't see a paddle review for it. Is that coming soon? I am very curious about this paddle as I was about to buy the Ronbus R3 Pulsar recently but would like to know where this one stacks up. I do like the look of that Edge 18K,
Great video thorough as usual. The question I have about this paddle is will it be more durable than the first gen Edge. I cracked three of them right along the edge guard. Liked the paddle a lot especially with lead tape. Hopefully for Diadem the 18k carbon fiber will make it more durable.
I haven't had it long enough to speak to its durability, but the build quality does look good, and the softer edge guard seems to be an upgrade over last year's paddles. I'd be surprised if there were edge cracking on this one
@@johnkewpickleball It has alot of power. People I play with notice a big difference in my game. The ball is whisling across the net. Learning two hand with the longer grip.
Do you know what type of Carbon Fiber Diadem uses (manufactures)?? They never state this on their website like others do and when I emailed them to ask, they flat out refused to say.
With a standard peel ply on top of that amazing looking carbon fiber, woukd it be a reasonable guess to asume the spin would degrade over a similar 3 to 6 month period (similar usage depending of course)?
Hey John, how would you compare the Diadem Warrior Edge 18k to the Ronbus R1.16 and the Vatic Pro Prism Flash 16? From what I gathered in your video, it would seem that it’s closer in performance to the two.
Good question. I'd say they're similar, especially with the crazy spin that the Ronbus R1.16 gets. The longer paddle face and shorter handle of the Edge give it a feel closer to the Electrum Model E, though.
Thank you, John. I actually noticed you haven’t reviewed the Vatic Pros. For some reason, I thought you had them already. Are you going to review them too?
Solid review! When it comes to the spin and control categories how does it compare with the 6.0 DBD? Having reviewed both do you have preference? Also how was the feel off the face (muted vs crisp)?
@@johnkewpickleball right. On the list however, I also see specs for the diadem warrior, but I wasn't sure which model it was. I apologize if my question was confusing. I was trying to compare the edge 18k to paddles I know and have used. I noticed the warrior was in the list shown in the video, so I am wondering if the spin, power, and pop numbers are for the OG Warrior or the V2?
Great in depth review. I just can't believe Diadem is hawking this paddle for $80 more than the current Edge with the only real difference being the paddle face. At least the updates to the Icon and Warrior were significant and noticeable, whereas they changed nothing spec wise with this paddle compared to it's predecessor. It's a little disingenuous in my opinion.

All that spin, I want some more power...the 6.0 DBD does that for me so I won't be trying this paddle...great review
Planning on reviewing the new 18K Power Pro which is thermoformed.
Hi John, I see you have the Warrior and the Edge 18k specs but not the Warrior Edge specs on your charts. Can you do a review?

I noticed the Nova in the spreadsheets as well!

Interesting - I haven't heard of this problem. Is the ball curving in unintended directions, or is it coming off the paddle at unintended angles?
Are you going to review the Edge 18K Power Pro?

Curious why the Legacy Pro wasn't on any of lists? Thanks
Bought the Pickleball Apes Proline Energy after your review. I put down the Six Zero DBD ever since. Are you still using it?
Yes indeed, Apes is still my primary paddle. How are you liking yours?

So far, just in the videos
Handle measurements should be taken with the grip off I would think?
Was surprised to not see either Volair anywhere on your spin rankings. Any plans to review the Mach 1 Forza?
Yes indeed, the Volair paddles just arrived yesterday

WTF with that guy in the white shirt making all the weird noises? And no way the Ronbus Nova spin rates are 600 RPM less than the R1.16
Big tease showing the NOVAs with the other reviewer and his sparring partner. 😉
More footage from that session coming with the NOVA review on Friday!
Why are your swing weights on paddles of by 3 or 4 points. Lot are not what others report swing weights at.
It’s not even close to be as powerful as the Legacy Paddle. It does have really nice control, though.
Wish it was a thermo
Grunters, I walk off court. Stopped watching. 😮
