Had a great cross country coach who had us train barefoot. I’m 58 and have been running in minimal footwear since then. 😃

These are facts! I can attest to this. I always wore Nike Free style shoes with no support and stayed very minimal until I started hanging out with running groups. They said I was nuts for running in them and need to run in real running shoes. I gave in a got a pair. It took me 3 years and I started having issues. So many! I haven't been able to really run for 5 years now. Just got into the barefoot movement a rew months ago and I'm already noticing the strength in my feet and less issues. It's a slow process but seems worth it.

Switching to traditional boots killed my arches in less than 5 weeks. I switched back to “minimalist” immediately and am on the recovery

great video 👍 thumbnails a bit misleading though, since the video doesnt even mention how shoes push the toes together

How important is shock absortion from shoes, when walking on concrete or other artificial surfaces?

I've got problems with my feet from running barefoot. Tingling sensations and hotness on the top of my feet. Been running minimalist for years. Injured my feet after a year layoff in 2018. Took three years before I could walk barefoot on a hard surface. Starting barefoot running in January 2022 and built it up to a maximum of 12 km but average run between 7-8 km. At the end of July 2022 got my first calf pull, in August a calf pull on the other leg. Took two weeks off and came back on 1 Sep 2022 and ran 9.44 km totally barefoot. On 6 Sep I felt strange tingling on the top of my right foot. Ran about 5 odd kms. Feet have been sore ever since. Can't walk barefoot on hard surfaces. But can run in shoes for 5km. Not sure what is going on? Stress fractures? Why can I run in shoes but not walk barefoot like I could a month ago. So now Im too scared to run barefoot. Hate running in shoes, 8mm drop "tanks "on my feet. Yet my feet don't hurt in shoes. The science doesn't make sense when it comes to me. Considering an MRI now. Any advice? P.S I stand all day on my feet as well.

Mechanical function if it’s not working there out you could still heel strike like you would have a padding landing
