Wondering if you have had any burning pellets fall through to the ash tray? I seem to have a lower and upper fire now😅. Thanks for the info and advice!
Good idea to do this review, what is it 3 weeks after your assembly? Looks like it fits your needs perfectly. Off hand, how are the pellets metered, just by gravity filling up where the pellets have burned? Also, do you know how you would start it if you didn't have that special starter of your's?
You could probably hold a bbq lighter for a long time to light it. Yes, there is nothing that feeds the pellets other than gravity from the space created from the burnt pellets. Yes, this works great for me, especially my fireside brew reviews.
How hot does it get at the top? I see at one point your umbrella looks to be almost touching it. I am considering placing it under an aluminum enclosed pergola, but it would only have about 5-6 inches clearance to the top.
I use it in my gazebo all the time. I will have to see how hot it gets next time I use it. I will probably do a future video to cover more questions I have received.
Wondering what stops a back burn on this unit considering it's gravity fed? I get back burn sometimes in my pellet smoker and it has an electric auger forcing the pellets through to the burn pot. I can see a huge hopper fire on this unit if you don't close the little trap door back there while burning no?? Thanks for any info.
I would think as long as the hopper door is closed it would deprive the pellet hopper of oxygen. I have never had fire travel into the pellet hopper but I suppose it is not 100 percent. An auger fed pellet grill and you had this happen, that is unusual I'm sure.
I no longer have my manual. You can google this to find one. Not sure if this link works. images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/b7/b7f0a770-00b5-4cf1-a1da-7610040c100a.pdf
You can use different methods to light the pellets. I am partial to Instant Fire staters. instantfirestarters.com/ . They give employment opportunities to adults with Autism. My son is currently working with them.
We purchased this product, front door didn't line up or close completely. We shorten the fire stack. All knobs get very hot, burnt side of finger. Ended returning after a week.
Great Video Greg, thanks.

Sometimes whatever can fall through the grate to the ash drawer is still burning. I found that it doesn’t affect anything.
Thanks for the review it does have a beautiful flame!

@@GregRocheleau how much clearance to the top of your gazebo? I was surprised to see how close your umbrella was to it without burning.
@@DanielSnyder-x6i There is about 18 inches between the top of the heater to the underside of the roof.
I saw it on the floor of Costco for 200 I waited a while there was only one left after 6 months and it was for 99 USD had to pick it up
I just got one for 50.00!! Floor model.
Damn. Still 250 here in Ca L.A.
How long does a full pellet hopper last you?
I would say about 8 to 10 hours. I have never burnt a full hopper in one burn.

@@GregRocheleau Doesn't look like I have to worry.. Can't seem to find one of these units anywhere out here in Calgary.. shitty.
@@jgpretty2012 I have to say, this doesn’t give off much heat if you were buying to use as a heater.
Looking at buying this, would it be fine on a wood deck ? Also when you’re done do you just close the trap to stop feeding the pellets and that’s it ?
Yes, there is no heat at the bottom part. Yes, just close the slide and it burns what is left in the burn chamber.
Can you tell me the diameter of the flue pipe? I can't find it listed anywhere. Thanks.
The diameter is 5 inches.
Thanks for the video. I purchased one that didn’t come with a manual. Would you be willing to pdf and share yours? Thank you

Will this damage concrete with the heat at bottom?
Not at all. It does not get warm at the bottom.
What's that fire cup you use for starting? Where do you get them?
You can use different methods to light the pellets. I am partial to Instant Fire staters. instantfirestarters.com/ . They give employment opportunities to adults with Autism. My son is currently working with them.
Can this be anchored to a wooden deck
I have not had issues with wind. I don't think there are anchoring spots on the unit. It is very heavy at the base.
@@GregRocheleau ok thanks, that’s my only worry, but it looks like a nice heater
Hmmm. Doesn't seem practical.
It works perfectly for my fireside brew reviews. Lol
