They should have had a price point for current users and new users. I have all the gadgets and love them. I don't see why I would by them all over again especially if you can export stems to your DAW.
Got it for Mac. Got the Komplete Kontrol S25 and Maschine Mikro too. If u use the Gadgets inside the Maschine Software as VST's or AU's, u have up to 16 pages predefined on the KKS25 for all Knobs and Faders. Its very usefull, because the Mac got not a touchscreen.
I'm a bit late to the party here, but not only are there no in app purchases for the OS version but you also get all the extra sounds for each gadget that sells in the store. I had the IOS version first and purchased all the gadgets and many of those extra sound packs. I've probably spent well over $300 over time for the IOS version and I still don't have everything included with the OS version. It also goes on sale often for $199. A bargain!! thanks Jakob for years great videos!
I love Korg Gadget on the iPad and over the years and different deals and discounts I have bought all gadgets on the iPad. Knowing that it comes with all gadgets from start aggregates a lot of value for the Korg Gadget on the Mac.
Your videos are awesome, you bring an amateur like myself into the fold. Showing me how much is possible ,even at professional levels, with gear that doesn’t require professional dedication to acquire.. it’s a real blessing,, thank you for all your sharing!
Yes and no, even though you get some of the more expensive gadgets, it does not include all sound packs for them in the MAc version, so there is that. Just got it for $150, I have it on IOS but want to use some gadgets as plugins. I think the price is fine at the full. People want things for nothing now days, software designers cost money, this is a mini daw too, plus youre getting all those classic Triton sounds etc. Imagine what all the samples cost to produce alone.
I think it would be better if they included a couple of gadgets for a startup bundle for the macbook say £30? then allow you the option of adding gadgets at your own leisure. It works for me on the ipad.
Bricolage is a video app that needs some more attention, the last update was back in january 2016, i don't think they are working on it, because no one has noticed them, please show them some love, they made a really cool way of video editing with nodes just like a professional video editing software for a computer
as someone who has Omnisphere, Kontakt, and falcon all running within Logic ..I'm trying figure out what Gadget brings to the table. if you already have the IOS version just route your iPad to your mac as an external device .....which is what I do ...
Except for the remarkably powerful Logic at $200, I don’t have all that expensive software. I got an iPad mainly for the relatively affordable iOS music apps. I love Gadget, and now I can use it on the Mac. If one has a bigger music app budget, and Gadget isn’t a main tool they use anyway, then I can see why the Mac version would be of little or no interest to them. Seems obvious that isn’t the market Korg is selling to. I’m in the market Korg is selling to.
iOS music apps are the reason I bought an iPad. I got the pro for the larger inter face for synth switches, etc...like having the real machine. Great instruments, and innovative tools, for $5 or so, and up. Me like!
+Robert UASF Yes that's correct. When buying the Mac version on gets access to all existing gadgets which is nice. But it doesn't give you access to the iOS app version. . . When buying the app on iOS, you have to purchase extra existing gadgets on top and doing this doesn't give you access to the Mac version. . . Sorry for over explaining, but I want to be clear for anyone else whom might be reading this, wondering the same thing. 😅
Thanks. I appreciate how quickly you get to the main point. I, too, plan to stay with iOS for now and ponder the future. QUESTION, suppose I want to move my iOS gadget tracks to logic, could you recommend the most streamlined path? You are, and forever shall be, our Guru.
+John Deggendorf Personally I would export stems in wave and then grab that into whatever DAW I am using. That's basically how I always work when I want to "move" my projects. Others might do it differently. I just like having my audio with all the fx glued into it.
Thanks again. I've still got the mini 2 but now have an air 2 (couldn't afford the fancy ipad pro like you 😣😣) I'm looking for a sequencer that's reliable and works with hardware. I may have missed a video of yours recommending one so I thought I'd ask you here if that's ok?
+Elliot Davidson Have you checked out MODSTEP? It's a very competent sequencer with loads of features. They hired me to make tutorials for it and you'll find those videos on the MODSTEP RUclips channel. :)
Thanks for this video as always good stuff. Can you do a video or answer the question I have : how do AU units from the ipad work on the Mac as AU plugins in say Ableton? I'd love to be able to pull up the apps that support AU that I have on the Ipad and use them in the DAW if possible. Cheers!
I’m actually looking into this since I’ve got access to a MacBook now, however I’m a long way away from making any headway with it. I’ll most likely make a video about this topic at some point but I’m very thorough in my research so that video won’t be coming out anytime soon I’m afraid. 😅
Hey Jakob heard through the Grapevine a new Gadget has dropped on the MAC version. “Stockholm” and it’s made by Propellerheads, any news is that true. Could be the start of something big if the building for the Gadget platform.
Hey Jakob I was wondering if you or anyone new of a fix for z3ta iOS??? Cackwalk has been dead for a while.. my z3ta worked for a long time but recently haven’t been able to get any sound anymore... I read audio bus forum but can’t find any valid links or anything??? Bummed... I loved that synth...
I do not now for sure as I haven't spoken to anyone at cakewalk, so all I have is speculation. This looks like a case of "abandon ware". There haven't been any updates to Z3ta for a long time and so there's really not much to do about it from anyone's end. Cakewalk need to update the app, however it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. I highly suggest you look for another synth which can fill your needs. A good option is Propellerheads Thor. I'm sorry but these things happens on the AppStore. All we can do is hope for an update.
Hey thanks for the reply, i appreciate it, and it sure does seem like cakewalk is a dead company now. i couldn't even reach support. i really enjoied being able to swap patches back n forth between ios and mac. Thanks for the suggestion, thor was the first purchase i ever made due to the sound test rooms recommendations. i love its ui, but for some reason dont really use it that much, i think mainly because so many other synths integration capabilities seem more fluent.. any other rec.'s or personal (most used) favorites??
I won't buy it on Mac. Windows user here! But I've bought Korg Gadget for my iOS device and it's great. Besides Gadget, I own another 4 Korg pro music applications. Korg addict you say? Well, I don't know. I prefer Roland but Korg does a great job on the App store while Roland is lacking in my opinion. Sure, the old Sound Canvas on the app store is nice but Roland can do a lot more than that.
Nailed the questions floating around my head. Also can the whole korg gadget program be loaded in a daw as a vst like maschine? I get that individual gadgets can. Thanks for all the fun videos.
Thank you! To anser tour question, no the Gadget software can not be loaded as a plugin into DAW’s like that. I do admit that it would be pretty cool if it could be used that way.
Still over priced for existing users IMO. No way I'll ever buy this at the price point, and that seems to be similar view from existing gadget iOS users.
That's how I feel. I have Gadget and every IAP already on my iPad Pro. If the only bonus is resizing and using the Gadgets as plug-ins, I see no real incentive to blow $200 on the same software for my Mac.
No. To get sized is a passive sentence. It uses the past participle "sized" with "it gets." It's the passive voice though, but that's not an error. Whenever you use the past participle with a "to be" verb, it's passive voice. "I was robbed." What makes it passive is in essence you don't know who did it. Active voice, the opposite, would put the subject in there actively: "Korg robbed me." Or "I sized the Gadget window."
Damn, would love to have used this on my iMac.... };-> The problem is the price. $399 AUD is just ridiculous for what is essentially a split-screen version of the IOS app. You also didn't mention the big problem with the sync, which is that although you might get (almost) all the gadgets with the MAC version, you have to then buy all the in-app ones again individually just to get sync-ability. That's nuts. This, and the fact they avoided the App Store for the MAC version underly some very big problems with the Apple store. Speaking of which, the initial 'sale' price is essentially the 30% they would have lost with apple store... coincidence? I don't think so. So let's look at this again.. what you're buying is essentially the VSTs with a direct functionality ios->macos port (probably the laziest thing they've ever done?). Suddenly it doesn't look like value.. it looks like a cash-grab and that's why the response has been so poor.
People these daze expect software to be incredibly inexpensive and will often make a huge issue as if they are insulted as a result of prices higher than they can afford. Funny that hardware musicians don't complain about having to save up thousands for a single piece of gear. On the flip side(first time I ever use that expression "on the flip side") software people or "in the box" people go bananas when an IOS app costs over $10. Often the $20 app is capable of the same sounds as the hardware costing thousands. We live in a very strange world where people are like sheep in so many ways. They do things and feel certain ways because it is the cool thing at the time. Individuality is lost. I don't like it at all. It's not interesting. It's not fun. I ask some people if they like something and they have to do some research to answer. Hey dude, I am asking you if you like it. What do other opinions have to do with the answer to what your opinion is. Do you have to first find out what most people like or what cool people like so that you don't like uncool things. I'm not exaggerating. Isn't it funny that so many people like the same fashions at the same time? I like aviator glasses. Some people laugh at me when I wear my aviator sunglasses. But those glasses are coming back in fashion. So suddenly those who laughed at me for that will say how cool I look the next day when the fashion police let it be known that aviators are cool. Isn't that incredibly ridiculous? Of course it is. But that's who most of us are. Ridiculous people. Soon expensive software will be cool and Noone will complain about gadget. They will rave about how cool it is being more expensive and run to buy other expensive products. "He is so cool. He just spent $2000 on a soft synth"
They should have had a price point for current users and new users. I have all the gadgets and love them. I don't see why I would by them all over again especially if you can export stems to your DAW.

I broke down and bought it for mac....it wont get cheaper so. Works great so far. Gadget is just so easy to use.
Your videos are awesome, you bring an amateur like myself into the fold. Showing me how much is possible ,even at professional levels, with gear that doesn’t require professional dedication to acquire.. it’s a real blessing,, thank you for all your sharing!
Thanks you taught me how to use this on iOS and i just got it for mac in the sale!!

Do you know if 3rd party Modules like "Far North" will be available for the Mac version?
Hello. So helpful,thank you 🙏🏻

+Ponk 80 I've never heard of it. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip! =D
You are welcome
They said that they are working on an update, so that's good news
Hired by Audiobus 🤩 BRAVO! You made it Jakob.
+Rafik Djadi Thanks man! 👊🏼

If you buy the full Mac version, do you still have to buy the iOS version and all the missing gadgets on iOS if you want to work on both platforms ?

That Stockholm Gadget is available inside Gadget both on Mac and iOS now. 😉
Thanks, very informative.
My pleasure, I'm happy you found the video useful! 👊🏼
There's no confusion here Jakob, just a sizable number of people that don't feel it's value for money.
Questions is there anyway to turn off the appreggiator in korg gadget
Great video. You're hilarious :)
+Maxwell Millermaier Aw, Thank you! =D
I was trying too Bluetooth my MacBook to speaker and it didn’t work. Any suggestions?

I am wary of Korg's software licensing, which has always been needlessly complex imo.
edit: it's pronounced Mill-Pee-Tiss
+Robert Syrett Thanks! I tried finding videos on how to pronounce Milpitas, but again all I got was these text to speech algo's.
No problemo. It's named after a city in my neck of the woods where Dave Smith made the original wave station.
+Robert Syrett Ah, now I understand the name choice! Thanks again! =D
But hey Jakob, its not for Macbook... its for MAC.
Ralf Kunze ops... 😂😅
ABLETON RULEZ!
MILLPĪTUS XD OMG
