As somebody who has owned a Terror Drome since the age of 12 (I’m nearly 50 now), I find your ginger handling of the fuel sleds amusing. Conversely, as someone who purchased a Defiant 10 years ago, I totally understand your trepidation. 😂

I spent three months restoring my TerrorDrome and I encountered all your points of concern. I’ve been very eager to see what your approach would be. The fragility before and after restoration makes it purely a display piece. Can barely move it without something wanting to either fall or break off. I’ve had mine on an electric lazy Susan. Put some leds in it. Looks cool. But won’t go anywhere near it 😂 Thanks for doing this series!

    • @tylerjham

@@tylerjham You’ll find out when you think you are close to getting fully assembled. Thankfully, for most issues there is either a 3d part available (like the hinge pegs) or an ample supply of parts. So many people just gave up and parted theirs out.

Looks great so far. Very nice job with the Cobra logo!
Clear-backed stickers are the bane of toys, especially large stickers. To expect most parents, never mind kids to get everything applied perfectly and without getting dust or air bubbles under the stickers is folly. This is a big problem with LEGO, which I collect. I really wish that when possible, opaque stickers could be used, at least with such a large and complicated sticker such as the Cobra emblem here on the segments of the launch bay cover. Ideally, of course, silkscreened or other printing would be the best thing.

A lot of people have said that the yellowing returns pretty quickly. Not sure if maybe that depends on the type of plastic, but I did deyellow an Ecto 1 with Salon 40 and the yellowing returned a few months or more later. Joe vehicles I feel are a different plastic than Ecto, and I have yet to try Salon 40 on a Joe vehicle.
