I see that tree looking good in a couple of years. Don’t worry about the rubber bands they will rot away in a couple of years. Submerge your pot in water up to the rim of the pot and that will moisten the soil under the rock. Keep those videos coming 🤙🏻
On the watering, I’d suggest a large enough storage bin that you can submerge the tree up to the trunk for long enough that all the air bubbles stop. Then as you lift it out of the water, gravity & the water exiting the drain holes will pull fresh air into the soil. You can repeat if you think it needs it... Put it back on its tray and your done. Learned this in a class from Hal Susaki in Denver, works great!
Yeah, I mean...what could go wrong? Just keep those partially exposed roots watered until they harden off a bit, let those lower roots grow into the soil, and boom...you’ll be golden! Looks good, good luck!
Pick a net like those green ones that are kinda sturdy, surround the rock and the tree with it and fill with substrate. Time to time remove the net and the soil in it. Good start!

Thanks Mike! I'll post some updates in a few months to show how it's doing.

just found your channel yesterday, i like it :D now i have more bonsai vids to watch :D
Thank you! I try to put one out about once a week or so. Sometimes I'm a slacker and miss a week, sometimes I'll double up. Thanks for watching!
I think it has a good start and the already existing aerial roots will be awesome over time.
Good video, maybe pile soil on the roots near the trunk and slowly rake it off over a few months to lessen the shock .
Great idea, thank you!

Thanks man! If nothing else I figured it would be a good learning experience on what not to do lol. But I think it'll end up surviving.

Well it's too late for this one, it's a goner. but I do love that idea and I'm going to try it again using that technique! Thanks for the tip
Good job sir.👍👍
Thank you!
How did it turn out? I was thinking about trying that with one of the cuttings you gave me.
Unfortunately I was too aggressive too quickly on this one and it died. Slow and steady seems to be the name of the game for exposed roots.
subbed..👍
