Same. I so wish I could do this, but I have pretty bad health issues that keep me from doing heavy manual physical labour like this. I'd love it if I could meet a man who knows how to do this stuff and get married and I could cook, preserve foods and clean and stuff like that while he does the construction and stuff, but I don't envision that happening anytime soon. Not many men would want to be with me because of said health issues. So instead I'll just watch Nate & live vicariously.

If you have a yard or patio, you can get some big tubs, and drill holes in them, fill with growing medium and start with a few tomato plants. And continue to expand as you are given opportunity. You don't have to be married to do that. If you have a patio, or even a small yard, you can make a start. So many wonderful you tube videos on how to do things these days. It's amazing. It's a God send because the world is running towards madness more and more. I pray you can make steps towards getting healthier, and maybe get a place our in the country and see what you can do! My house is 720sq ft, & I'm building a shed, because if you are frugal & believe in "waste not, want not", you will always have things you've found for future projects. Well to be entirely fair, hard to say this is the same as it was in olden times. It's still extremely impressive but there's a lot of modern innovations to smooth out the process.

Hey Nate, we have quite a bit in common. 20+ years off grid now and I started in a small camper with 2 rescue pups. Saved some money and built a small cabin, coops, garden and sheds. Started a local pest control business and with no house payments and no utility bills I was able to retire at 49. Now I just write off grid books and design cabin plans for other people to build and do adventure vids with my dogs. Life is good! Best on your adventures!

I've always liked the look of A-frame cabin homes with their simplicity of design and construction. I've often thought of building one if I ever got a plot of land outside the city maybe near the water. I'm here for your journey brother. As someone who just hit 25, I've only just very recently begun to look inward and question the things that I really want out of life. I've never had goals, aspirations, or dreams really, just a drive every day to do the best I can in that moment, regardless of what I was doing. As well as that has served me to this point, it also left my perspective extremely narrow and thus here I am trying to find answers to these enormous questions. All this to say that these videos and shorts truly make me feel at ease and a little less anxious about finding the answers. I moved out to Washington in the big mountains with dreams of homesteading. But something I didn’t realize was how expensive it was going to be. So I bought a house and suffered a 2k mortgage for 5 years. But before I moved here 10 years ago I was from WV as well. But cancer got me now so my homesteading dream is on hold, maybe forever. But you’ve got me thinking about returning back to mountain mama. I love your videos bud Ne I miss the people back there like you. Some of the best folks come out of Appalachia. Thanks again bud I know these videos take a lot of time to make and I’m very grateful for them. Living vicariously through you while I’m stuck in a hospital bed all day. Live king and live now. Time is never on our side. I’m 35 years old and I’ve had colon cancer twice which I did not cause myself. It’s on the rise in people my age. 20s to 30s. Take care of your body good buddy.

I'm sure many people comment on your videos every day saying how they wish they had this life and how their life sucks etc. We are all on our own journey and in due time everyone can live similar lives away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. I think sometimes we look at others and think that we will finally feel better once we reach that point but sadly it's not the scenery and lifestyle that will make us feel much better, instead it's probably just what goes on in our mind and heart that matters more. This is the first video I've seen so I subscribed. I always seen the shorts before. I absolutely love what you've done and of course Minion too. But what you've done is something I always wanted but there's so much building to do and I failed math in school never had a man in my life that was worth his salt so now I'm a single 62 year old woman.i love what you've done God bless you and animal friends.

Good for you sir. I'm sure many people comment on your videos every day saying how they wish they had this life and how their life sucks etc. We are all on our own journey and in due time everyone can live similar lives away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
I think sometimes we look at others and think that we will finally feel better once we reach that point but sadly it's not the scenery and lifestyle that will make us feel much better, instead it's probably just what goes on in our mind and heart that matters more.

Her unit is on reducing waste and she is using this video rather than the one that came with the lesson to show living off-grid and using resources wisely. I think that’s so cool! How much is acreage in your area if I may ask? I think nate said he paid about 1K per acre. I think that's pretty reasonable. I went thru IN a long time ago and the ppl there were really nice.
