    Nice work, like the wood, is that red cedar? Difficult to chisel, but verylight weight

      Thank you! I think they’re red cedars.
      As you said, they are lightweight, which is great for a kitchen stool.
      As rough leftover lumber from my grandma’s yard fence, the sapwood between the annual rings is kind of soft and not dry enough. So it’s hard for the chisel to get a smooth surface on the end grains.
      The joints make the stool really sturdy. We can stand on it with no worry. The only problem so far is the stool is a little slippery on the tile floor. Still trying to find a solution here.
