The thing is though, you're not really the King. The Giant may have used the title, but you're not the King. After defeating the Giant, he reveals who you truly are. The clone is obviously time-warped, so Time Keeper is the one responsible for bringing the King's past self to fight him. She just doesn't want to let him have his way. I'm not sure why Time Keeper and Alchemist are trying so goddamn hard to save a "kingdom" that's just full of dead corpses.
@@XanderRaidon actually, it's likely you just went ahead before your past self could do it, after all, to reach that point you must let timekeeper teleport you before the king was killed by you, so you just went faster(or spawned before) and when you reached the throne your past self sees you as the king, and wants to kill you
I had a feeling the protagonist was the king when I beat the Giant and he said all those weird things and ending with "My King..." before dying. Cool to see this is actually true.
It hit me that the beheaded was probably the king when I read the statue for the millionth time - 'how could he see with a helmet like that?' (paraphrasing). I wondered at the wording of this, and realized that meant his head was completely hidden. Since he doesn't move at all, and after you 'kill' him it mentions how nothing changed, I figured that meant he was already dead. Now, if you read the chopping block at the very beginning, the Beheaded says he had a 'bad time' with it. It was nowhere near perfect reasoning, but I'm proud to have caught that hint.
In case anyone is wondering the line right before he zaps u at 0:57 - 0:58 is: "Thank you for bringing me more! I was really starting to get the itch there!"

I hope there will be more to the story soon. There are still many unanswered questions and the Malaise is still a huge problem. The current true ending doesn't feel that satisfying imo.

Theory for a new ending:to get this ending you need all 5 boss cells activated and you need to posses the king instead of killing him once you beat the hand of the king Then after you kill the collector You encounter yourself and imitate each other just about when you two are about to clash a glitch in the timeline appears causing weird things to happen Then the time keeper appears floating above you and yourself And says"it appears this timeline is doomed my mission is complete" All of a sudden earthquakes begin to happen all over the island you said"What is going on!?" Time keeper:"isn't it obvious i was sick and tired of losing to a lowly being like you over and over again!" "But now with the timeline collapsing you have to start over and I'll beat you this time!" You middle fingered the time keeper The time keeper replied"why..." "WHY WON'T YOU JUST GIVE UP AND SURRENDER!" ... Time keeper then proceeds to grab the potion that the collector was using Time keeper offered"tell you what if you beat me one last time then I'll fix the timeline" *To be continued...*
I think this ending perfectly sets up a sequel, like we have the bad guy who is the mc and the time keeper is supposedly good so maybe for the next game we play as her trying to defeat the king
I really hope that is not the case, they have kept the game updated frequently and with more lore at every patch, so I guess the end is still not really the end, or at least I hope so!

This story deserves a episode series. They can expand the plot , include many things in additional content like who started this, corruption, politics, other kings or kingdoms, time loop breaker.
This is some Prince of Persia shit in this ending, are they gonna add a new boss fight against yourself from the past (or the other way around aka you vs the King in the future)? I'd assume so. Also there's the statue of the Grim Reaper near the entrance to the Caverns, I'd assume that he's going to have some relevance to the story after because of what the Time Keeper does everytime with the time.
I wonder if the future story would be like, at that final battle between the king (current you) and his dead cell self (the glitching one), what if it turned out that it was a tie, but the King's body gets destroyed, so he gets to go back to his dead cell self... And now, he will go on a quest to find and fight THE TIME KEEPEER, which is the real last boss of the game, to stop the cycle and the glitches in time... And along the way, we actually get to see how the malaise really came to be, it's origins, and find the real cure (which would probably be endless supply of Panacea stolen by the Time Keeper in different time repetitions on the time the Alchemist made it (hence, the glitch's origin). In the future adventure, the location would probably be different and it might involve time portals or even dimensions, even the MOON and we would probably see why it was hinted at astrolab telescope about the moon.
I would love it if it turned out like this! Especially if the last boss was the time keeper, since it's the only boss that we technically never kill and gets away always

I love this idea, a second timekeeper fight, maybe with even some mechanics in which you loose your current weapon and you get the weapon you used in the previous run

sei la this is what i was thinkin when i started the game...There are many ways u can make a multiplayer version of the game.. like a co-op first of all,and then a fighting mode.. in fighting mode you start behind a locked door like the main version of the game and there you have many choises of weapons and skills,you choose and then the match begins.. or you can start with only one weapon and when you take kills some random weapon/skills throw to the ground...i would love it...

someone translated the scene from the original french on reddit and confirmed the translation is just bad, the french uses the word for "body", not "host"
What do you think the story behind the clone is? Like is it basically you killing the king for the first time...? Or is it something more? Because you can see that the clone is a “glitched” since it moves like everything else involved with time keeper
in my opinion, since we (the king) have no recollection of what happened, it must have been that by loosing our "body" we lost also our memory, therefore combining this with the time travel, we are fighting ourselves without knowing it
@@gamingwithacm this time it's a paid dlc, the first one to be paid, but it seems great and with all the free dlc we got until now. There's a new trailer with lots of new weapons, enemy and at least one boss (but I would suspect more, but it's just a hunch)
There are also hints in the second to latest DLC that the king is not the king, and that the detaching rune/body is an experiment gone wild This game never ceases to amaze me
You need to beat 5BC, and then the time will be reset, you will then use the homunculus rune to possess the king body and proceed to kill the collector again, with the king outfit equipped
So this ending (also seen in the artbok "the heart of deadcells") made it into the game, Are there any more interactions with the assasin past this? Can you really go through without spending cells though... in the rest room, you can't go through the door to pass the cell room until you give him what you have...i think he even says it..
You need to unlock 5BC and kill the Collector Boss (after the hand of the king) after that the TimeKeeper Boss will kidnap you and the time will be reset and the King corpse will respawn

how?? you can only throw off your head when you have defeated the hand of the king for the first time and then the throne is broken, that means the king is no longer there
Yea, the unlock this you need to kill the collector in 5BC, then the time keeper will reset the time and make the king respawn, and then you can possess his body

I kept dying while playing this game that I decided to search up the ending lol
There's this feeling that you are actually not the king (he said that the king was your "First Host"). Hmmmmmm I might be wrong though
i am not really a lore master but yes i still feel like somethings is up
someone translated the scene from the original french on reddit and confirmed the translation is just bad, the french uses the word for "body", not "host"
What do you think the story behind the clone is? Like is it basically you killing the king for the first time...? Or is it something more? Because you can see that the clone is a “glitched” since it moves like everything else involved with time keeper
in my opinion, since we (the king) have no recollection of what happened, it must have been that by loosing our "body" we lost also our memory, therefore combining this with the time travel, we are fighting ourselves without knowing it

@@gamingwithacm this time it's a paid dlc, the first one to be paid, but it seems great and with all the free dlc we got until now. There's a new trailer with lots of new weapons, enemy and at least one boss (but I would suspect more, but it's just a hunch)

To get this ending need to kill collector then time keeper will teleport you and say smth bad will happen also npc you saw death will be alive
I am now very curious what the head detaching rune looks like on this
There are also hints in the second to latest DLC that the king is not the king, and that the detaching rune/body is an experiment gone wild

can you do this even if you killed the king beforehand? cause he doesn't show up after you beat the game once
if you beat 5 cells, the timeline resets, then if you beat the giant, the king will respawn

You need to beat 5BC, and then the time will be reset, you will then use the homunculus rune to possess the king body and proceed to kill the collector again, with the king outfit equipped

The artbook shows that the beheaded and the assasin meet outside the clocktower, in a area that seems to be between the astrolab and the clocktower (caverns perhaps)?

The collector doesnt spawn in 5 cell mode until the final boss
Can you really go through without spending cells though... in the rest room, you can't go through the door to pass the cell room until you give him what you have...i think he even says it..

The timekeeper reset the timeline
Time keeper did reset the timeline but we didn't die because of king's body
Sometimes i forget dead cells has dialouge
And sometimes I forget that Dead Cells has a lore, but we can't figure out the main points: where, why and how ahahhahaa

You have to kill the collector at 5bc and then go back to the hand of the king in a new run
If u had to kill the king the first time hin order to unlock the skill, how do you get the King's body!?!
You need to unlock 5BC and kill the Collector Boss (after the hand of the king) after that the TimeKeeper Boss will kidnap you and the time will be reset and the King corpse will respawn

Ok wow i am actually dumb, i just defeated the HoTK and killed tke king (obv on 5BC) and later the Collector and didnt get why I wasnt getting the "real" ending... where the hell should i have known to posess him...? Well, thanks a lot for this! Gonna try it tomorrow

you need to kill the collector on 5 cell to unlock the glitch ending, then the king will respawn, you posses him and then you kill collector again

Yea, the unlock this you need to kill the collector in 5BC, then the time keeper will reset the time and make the king respawn, and then you can possess his body

It's a paradox with the time travel, so you are the king and you fight yourself

The skin is unlocked the first time you possess the king body, if I am not mistaken
