I found the culprit killing my Tetras I believe

    Glad you found the culprit and stopped the problem. A 40 gallon breeder is such a great tank with so many options. Depends what you love. Personally, right now I'd put a bunch of fork-tail rainbows (Pseudomugil furcatus), a school of rummynose tetras, at least a dozen Corydoras of 1 or 2 species, a pair of longfin, super red Bristlenose plecos and let it roll. Ask me in another month and I'd probably have a different combo!

    Maybe some kind of barb? Cherry, Rosy, or Odessa? The contrast would be cool, and to tell you the truth I'm mainly recommending them because I think they look awesome and I don't have a tank for them yet so I'm looking to live vicariously lol

      @@FlowstateAquatics it's a big no on barbs I just got rid of all my Rosie Barbs cuz they are plant eaters and we're eating my anubius and other plants so I'm not doing barbs for sure

    I had SAEs in a few tanks, but ended up taking all 6 to the LFS. They became jerks as they got bigger. Blue Cochu Tetras are a pretty tetra that would school for you and stand out nicely.

    Columbian Tetras, Black Tetras and Tiger Barbs all come to mind. They are colorful, well behaved and very hardy - good luck!

      @@thetuninator1885 except barbs and Columbian tetras eat plants..Anyhow I have already decided on what's going on there. I have ordered the fish already but they won't ship until 13 Jan. So folks will find out then what I chose

    Cherry barbs are great
    I have 7 in a planted 29 with some platties
    1st time I have owned them in my 50 years keeping tropical fresh water fish
    Peaceful as can be with so much color they surprised me with how red they get
    I have 3 females and 4 males and, I highly recommend this beautiful fish

    Glad you found the killer! Sounds like the Oscar will keep him in line.
    What's the PH like in this tank? That would determine my suggestion on stocking ideas.

      @@razinfishes1918 Nice! I cant seem to get my tank to stay lower than 7.4. Since yours roughly 6.8 you could try Sundadanio axelrodi or Pseudomugil mellis. These are two I have always wanted to keep but my tap water PH prevents me from doing so.

    Dans had some giant otocinclus. He explained they grow about 4".
    I have a shoal of about 12 regular ones for algae control in my goldfish tank and they do a good job

    I currently have Harlequin Rasboras with my Black Neon Tetras. They get along just fine. No issues.

      @@JGTaylor62 I have some Harlequin Rasboras in a different tank. I had a good mix of neons and black terra for a good long time. Down to just 4 had around 30 in that tank for about 3 years. So now I'm going a different route. Ordered some fish but they won't ship until 13 January so everyone will see once I get them in

    I didn't know that about Siamese Algae Eaters? I knew they would eat shrimp but didn't think they would eat the tetras.
    Angels would be nice..
    Or Kribensis .
    Rams would be nice?

    dans fish shop is a good one to buy from my fish were delivered fast alive and healthy and still going strong.
