Great Day in the Fish room We got Uaru Fry!
My Uaru's lay eggs all the Time but I never get any fry. So I decided to remove the rock they laid eggs on and try to hatch them myself. I didn't get many but i did get 7 or 8 live fry

Thats really awesome. I still would of rinsed the sand but im sure it will be just fine just take a long time to clear. Anyways it will be beautiful. Im jealous been wanting a pond for awhile come spring im doing it. Thanks for sharing
@@markfranklin8831 yea I'm not worried about the dusty sand. It will be ok
Super cool
@@markfranklin8831 agreed
Awesome. Been thinking about doing this myself. Thanks for sharing
@@markfranklin8831 thanks for watching appreciate that
Looking good Scott, wish I would have seen this when I put my summer tub away. May need to build a stand with wheels. For me it would be more just for moving with the substrate to the garage. I didn’t use dirt because I drain it for the winter. Can’t wait to see more 😁
That is cool work Scott, does it cycle sooner ? Thanks
@@josepolanco1228 it will cycle fairly quickly as I have the temu filter on my small tub and a large sponge filter to put in it. And plant it with a bunch of plant that I'll propagate from other tanks
Very nice Scott looking great.
@@dannyaquatics thank you Danny
That's so cool. I can't wait to see them make it. You're a Grandpa. Lol congratulations Scott.
@@dannyaquatics yep hopefully they make it
Wow... Congrats.. hope they do well... Happy for you
@@stubbsaquatics6080 time will tell
Love the pond on wheels. That is brilliant btw. Great looking substrate.. I know the feeling about the shoulders.. I have a MRI later today on mine The drain is going to work so well. . Gravel around the drain is another smart move
@@stubbsaquatics6080 I appreciate your kind words not sure I'm that smart I just think I a common sense kinda guy or it's pure dumb luck putting this thing together haha
Hello, Like your video very mutch. And that you compare the different substrate is very informative. I have also done many dirted tanks but also had Good results with just sand. Even better results if i have put a undergravel filter and using sand. The undergravel filter will pull nutrient ritch water down in the substrate to feed the roots. You should try that sometime, sorry for my bad English😊
@@jon-arildolsen8178 lol no worries about bad English I'm not good at it either lol. I have used under gravel filters in probably 40 years now
That wheeled platform was such a smart idea. I relate heavily to you on the wheels going anyway they want to though lol
@@FlowstateAquatics yep gotta change 2 of then out that don't swivel
At 1251 lbs possibly all off them.
@@unleashthekraken7548 So are you saying you don't think the wheels can carry the weight? Each wheel is rated at 2600 lbs they are heavy duty. So I'm not concerned about the weight. I just need 2 that don't swivel and 2 that do.
Hey man! I just watched the current series of videos and I was curious about the gravel. What type of gravel do you have and have you done the vinegar test to see if it excessively bubbles in the vinegar? Other than that, I am excited to see how this ends up!
@@ninjakitty7115 So I'm going to use a dirted base, then black diamond blasting sand to cap the dirt. And the gravel I have was bought at one our local fish stores many years ago. I switched all my tanks to sand or planted substrates. I don't like to vacuum my tanks. So all my tanks are planted minus my 180 Cichlid tank as the just eat any plants. The only time I test any rocks is if I gather them from the river. And none of this gravel is from there
Loving your take on natural aquariums. Thanks so much for sharing your learnings, very cool!
@@FlowstateAquatics thank you appreciate your comments
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks for sharing! Its good to see that I'm not the only one who feeds several brands and kinds of foods. My other half jokingly complains that the fish eat better than us when I cut up tilapia and shrimp for the big guys in the 7ft tank😂
Love the 180 and 125. Really cool filter set up for the “hot tub”.
Thank you Scott for sharing all your tanks. Have a “concept of a plan” 😁 for a 20 gal planted to include cpds . Never really kept them before. Want to also use a rich substrate, never used either will try stratum. Have a great day
Looking great Scott.
Thanks 👍
That’s great Scott! I absolutely love the rolling cart idea. Makes it so mobile that’s perfect 😎
@@pattys_aquatics yea I'm all about making life easier.
Love it. I want to do the same thing come spring around here. Thanks for sharing
@@markfranklin8831 appreciate that. I'm going to get it up and running in my garage then just roll it out side once the weather warms up
Your getting close buddy.. That hose will definitely come in handy
LOL, that is more work than I did for my tubs, but it looks great. Thanks for sharing, and I am looking forward to seeing it all set up this summer.
@@MerbeastsFishRoom-s7e yep I am too. Working on the drain pipes now cutting to size
Great job Scott. Looking great.
That looks great Scott 😁
Oh wow.. a new hot tub 😅 You can buy metric up here lol That drill cleaned that up nicely I like the drain.. That will work slick Swordtails will be awesome in it.. or platies
@@stubbsaquatics6080 sword tails can they take the heat?
@razinfishes1918 they are originally from Mexico I believe
Iam not sure of the video I watch a woman kept a species of her tetra spawns covered so no light could hit the eggs in the first few days of development. She was saying light has a adverse outcome if the eggs are exposed to it, being a rain forest fish this could be issue your might be having with you hatching. Just a shot it dark , but could be worth a try.
Oh I can't wait to see the results. Ouch lol
@@stubbsaquatics6080 we will see. I don't hold much faith that it will work but I gotta try
Good luck Scott! I look forward to the progress
@@pattys_aquatics not sure if this will work but I had to try
Good luck
@@markfranklin8831 thank you I hope it works but I don't expect much
Beautiful ❤😂😂

Continuous drain system?
@@MerbeastsFishRoom-s7e you are close. It is a drain system but not continuous. I'm still waiting on some other parts I need. Once I have every thing I will start working on getting it all tog5
I had all the best stuff for my African Cichlids back in the 90's but a fresh trout fillet skin once a month did great for health and color
@@Bloomcycle wow never thought that would be a food for African Cichlids thanks for sharing
@razinfishes1918 most of the lake Malawi cichlids are nibblers. They take bites of scales and fins and eyes. Opportunistic feeders
@razinfishes1918 use a tiny skin from a Rainbow trout or a Brook trout. The scales are small and they can swallow easily and they gobble them down like crazy.
Have you ever seen a tiny bass caught on a big floating minnow bait? It's nipping it's fins for a easy meal because it thinks it's real. It's obviously not trying to eat it because it's 10× the size
nice!
Your tanks look amazing. How old are they ? Planning on starting my first dirtied tank. What kind of sand do you use? Do you rinse the dust from it before capping the dirt? Thanks
Thank you. So my dirted tanks are maybe a little over a year old not exactly sure. As Far as sand you can use just about any sand mine just happens to be 20lb bags from Petco. but you can use pool filter sand or Black diamond blasting sand those are way cheaper. My sand didn't need to be rinsed its pretty clean. but pool sand for sure will need to be rinsed. Thanks for watching I appreciate your comments as well
@@razinfishes1918. Thanks for your response.
Nice video. Im going to try and setup a dirted tank in the near future. Thanks for sharing
@@markfranklin8831 awesome you won't be disappointed. But be patient and you will be happy with the results
I also mix my flakes and pellet food and make it into powdered for my fry
I used to keep several foods, but I'm down to just 3 different brands. I also give them greens and vegetables on occasion
I certainly feed them a variety.. northfiin community flakes and micro pellets but also use omega one plus frozen foods... I also use freeze-dried shrimp and krill as you do
Looks to be an auto water changer or diy sump
@@brantonlightcap good guess but that's not it.
Looking forward to it Scott 😁

Very nice Scott great idea. I'm probably going to try a few of those on a few aquariums.
You did a real nice job cutting and olacing the crates in... All the tanks look good with them... They are awesome to have pothos and other plants coming out of them
